I looked at this place as a wedding venue. We didn't book there, but overall thought that they were a great place and would be a good choice for a lot of couples. Ceremony area: Absolutely gorgeous view and backdrop. Best suited for smaller weddings, but they can probably do 150 people. The only downside is that the space for the couple and the celebrant is not a lot, especially if you have a lot of guests. There isn't any space to do a chuppah or some sort of archway or anything, since you'd be standing right above the stairs that go down to a little platform. (Which would be an amazing place for pictures.) There's a small room in this building where the bridal party could get ready. Reception area: In same building as the ceremony area. It's all hardwood, with a wall of windows looking out over the lake. There are bathrooms in this building and they are nice and clean. There's a full kitchen as well. There are some decorative items that are not allowed to be moved (some wiring across the hall which actually looked pretty nice covered in white christmas lights and a quilt which I didn't love but could've lived with). Booking the ceremony and reception site is $2000 for 5 hours of usage and 3 hours of set up. This doesn't include tables, chairs, or linens. Receptions must end at 11 pm. Cabins: There is a couple's cabin near the lodge (where the ceremony/reception is) that has its own bathroom and mini kitchenette. Less camping, more cabin-ing. You can rent a whole cabin area and a pavilion for $600. The cabins have beds and mattresses, but no linens or sheets. It's pretty rustic, and the bathrooms are across the way. Overall: It's a great site, and the manager is very nice-- laid back and reasonable. They're good people and this would be a great location for a couple that's outdoorsy, frugal, simple, and easy going.

My [now] husband and I fell in love with Camp Kiwanee's Needles Lodge as first sight. The camp and lodge were a perfect combination of rustic woods and historic charm for our wedding day. The natural beauty that surrounds the camp instantly gave a sense of ease and we knew that this venue was exactly what we had been looking for. One of our favorite aspects of the venue is the wrap around porch that leads to a double deck overlooking Maquan Pond and tucked under towering pine trees. With that view, we were sure that we would end up with some lovely photos. We had approximately 140 guest, which Camp Kiwanee was able to accommodate comfortably. There was more than enough space for the DJ, guest tables, sweetheart table, buffet tables, dessert tables, and dance floor. We also had close to 50 of our guests stay overnight in the cabins following the reception. The cabins and bath house on the campground are kept clean and most cabins sleep up to 6 people. We also rented the camp pavilion for an after party spot, which was perfectly complete with a fireplace and picnic tables (and yes, electricity) set up inside. Our friends and family were able to stay and party with us in the pavilion as late as they wanted and when they had had enough they just walked over to their designated cabin for a cot to crash in! It was perfect! The staff at Kiwanee is amazing.Jim is the man! They have a list of recommended caterers, but were flexible enough to let us bring in whichever vendors we chose. They answer questions quickly and really work with you to make sure your wedding is perfect. We had so many special accommodations and they were always very supportive and helpful with everything we asked them. Part of the fun of having a wedding at Kiwanee is you can decorate the ceremony and reception site exactly how you want it, and they give you plenty of time to do that. Don't underestimate Camp Kiwanee because its a campground. The setting was beautiful and our wedding turned out to be perfect, everything we had hoped for, and more!

Enjoyed a great wedding at this camp. Grounds are gorgeous, view of the lake was excellent. The space worked well for a 150 person event.

"Permanent" constructions aren't allowed. You can put campers and tents there, and build frames of 2x4s, canvas, mesh netting and fiberboard that have the appearance of a cabin. People park refrigerators, tables and appliances there, and generally stay throughout the season, which runs from Memorial Day to Labor Day. There's a pond for swimming, fishing and sailing, forests in which to hike, a recreation area with a basketball court and other amenities. The sites are seasonal leases (no short term camping) and can roll over year-to-year, and Site #12 isn't the only one that's been in the hands of one family for fifty years or more. Contact the owners to get on the waiting list for an opening, but understand that preference is often given to the families of current or old-time campers. Times have changed, some, and now water and electric hookups have replaced the propane-fired refrigerators and send-the-kids-to-the-public-taps-with-jerricans of my youth. More people are there weekends-only and fewer live there all summer long. But it's still the home of my heart, forever. And if you can get your own site, thank your lucky stars. It'll be one of the best things that ever happened to you.

Lots of waterfront camping space, but if you actually want to be able to sleep in on those hot summer mornings there's also lots of space in the wooded areas to camp. Everything was really clean upon arrival (as clean as it can be for being a camping area) and was kept as such throughout the weekend. Not an easy task when you have 500+ people traipsing around. There's two sets of restrooms (with running water) and the ones at the front also have 2 showers in each bathroom (mens and womens). The showers were much great, hot and good water pressure. There's also a concession area right as you arrive at the campground which carries smaller items (sunglasses, waters, etc) and are super reasonably priced. The only downfall is that you can't swim in the lake (at least not when I was there), but it's a bit murky so I'm not sure if one would want to. They do rent out paddleboats and canoes though for $50 a day with a $50 refundable deposit. There's also some pretty good fishing in the lake. One of my favorite things about this place was the fact that the owner, John, was always on hand. Interacting with patrons, making sure things were running smoothly. He really did a great job of making us feel welcomed. I'll definitely be returning next year :D

As I entered the office to register I was greeted by Jody who said to me "welcome Hime". That picked up my spirits quite a bit. As I was driving here I thought about my site and how to back in was a hill which I thought could be a bit muddy which it was. As I was guided in by Geoff one of the great crew and an RV tech I got stuck and bogged down in the mud. Things look bleak at that point and we talked about getting a tow truck to move my 45' coach. Suddenly the Calvary arrived and we and they devised a plan to free me up. Oh did I say it was raining quite hard. After two hours using planking and more digging I was freed. Now they decided to put me in a pull through for the night which I did. Now the plan is to wait until the ground dries a bit and go back to the site I love. Bottom line I e traveled all over North America and never had the service I get here and always with a sincere smile. They always seem to know what to do to make the customer feel happy and satisfied. The main difference here I believe is the fact it's a family run facility third generation and it's not the same as being a name and number in a corporate campground. The point I'm making is recommend anyone to stay here at Pinewood Lodge. I'm here and hope to be for time to come. The amenities and activities are wonderful. So I hope this review helps people looking for a campground close to Cape Cod and convenient to travel to Boston would consider them. Happy Camper

It is unfortunate I am writing this because the mission of Camp Wing and crossroads as a nonprofit is a good one but the mistreatment and unprofessional in the workplace they allow is not a cause worth supporting. It is 20K to have a wedding here and it could not be less worth it just for the price point alone. There is nothing special about this venue and there are many that look the same if not better for less money. Is a longtime member of the Duxbury community I feel it is important to have it be known what has happened to this place. I know many people that have worked here and have been a part of this Camp short and long term. I am even someone who sent my kids here for years but there has been disturbing things I have learned about this place. The cabins in which the overnight counselors sleep in are cramped, filthy, and uncomfortable. The food they feed to the counselors from the dining hall is absolutely awful and left multiple sick from not eating. There are many allegations from day camp employees about the unprofessionalism as many of the directors and coordinators of the day camp. I know multiple kids in the community that have worked here and said no one they worked with that summer was planning on returning the next summer either because of how awful their bosses were. When I sent my kids to this camp, it was a community and now it has been ruined. I know there has been a recent turnover in the past couple of years of a lot of positions at this camp, but it is unfortunate to see what they have done to a once great place.

Charcoal grills are available in the yard; you provide the charcoal and maybe some aluminum foil for the grill. There are several two bedroom houses and a few 3 bedrooms. The houses have full kitchens. We usually bring plenty of food: prepared if we are staying in an efficiency so we can heat them up in the microwave. The kitchens have a table large enough for the number of guests each house sleeps. The living room has sofa's, comfy chair, end tables, coffee table and TV. In the summer there are fans. In the winter there is a gas fireplace. Most everything you would need in the kitchen is provided: plates, cups, flatware, coffee maker, toaster, pans, spatula for cooking, mixing bowl, cutting board, etc. It's often mismatched, but it's all there. Sometimes there are a couple of wine glasses too. I usually bring a few items of my own, like my coffee cup, just because I prefer my own, as well as storage items like aluminum foil or plastic storage bags and paper towels. If I haven't pre-prepped food I plan to cook, I'll bring my own chef's knife as those are not provided. Basically anything I want to be sure of, I bring. They provide dish towels, sponge and dish soap. The bathroom has soap and toilet paper. The office provides sheets and towels. The guests are required to clean before leaving: sweep floors, vacuum carpets, wash dishes and put them away, strip the beds. The staff will clean the restrooms and leave new linens for the next guests. Towels can be delivered daily if needed. Just call the office. The cliff face is eroding and some of the RV parking spots have fallen into the ocean as has the roadway, which once made a loop along the cliff, creating two dead-end streets. The beach on the river side is stones that have been placed there to help reduce erosion. If you walk toward the river on the left side of this beach (it's a 'cove beach'), the area becomes more sandy. If you continue around to the left, you can walk along the river and marshlands. There are picnic tables 'here and there' provided by 4th cliff. We sometimes bring our coffee down here in the early mornings. Additionally, you can walk along the beach, around the end of the cliff, to the ocean side of the property. Once you get past the cliff face, the beach is sandy, although there may be a number of rocks in the water. Because of the rockiness of the beach areas in general, do bring your water shoes to save your toes. This ocean facing beach is used by homeowners along Central Ave. and there is plenty of space for everyone. At low tide, you can wander around the rocky areas and find all kinds of sea creatures in among the stones. The recreation area includes a small shop in the office building for things you may have forgotten and souvenirs, however, during the pandemic, the office is not open to guests. If you are military, this is a pleasant spot for a vacation along the water. Located in the little village of Humarock, within Scituate, there is a small restaurant where Central Ave meets Marshfield Ave. You can grab a morning coffee, breakfast or lunch here. A small 'beach shop' to get the floats, souvenirs and other things you may want is locate across the street on the other side of the intersection (think diagonally). Access to the public beach is here, however parking is not abundant, so maybe bring your bikes and take the ride down if you'd like to use this beach access. There is an Irish pub just a little further along on Marshfield Ave and a larger restaurant on the other side of the bridge where Marshfield Ave turns into Sea Street. (Check their policy during Covid - they may be 'take out' only) There is a convenience store/liquor store in this area. A grocery store is on Rt 139 at the intersection of Furnace St. And if those restaurants are not enough for you, drive into Scituate for one of the many food options they have available. We also make it a point to stop for a walk at one of the many Audubon or conservation areas nearby. There is a lighthouse in Scituate, and a marina on the North River where you can stop for a beverage and light meal while sitting outdoors on the river if that appeal to you. Plenty to keep you busy.
