I will say we got here early by around 9ish and the parking lot was still pretty empty. We were only coming for like 2 hours so I do wish there was some sort of a different rate if you're not here for a full or even a half day. It was super chilly and windy even though it was the end of July, but we did enjoy laying down and getting some salt water breeze and just the sound of the water was enough to be able to enjoy. Some parts of the sand are rocky but we landed in an area that was pretty flat and sandy. As we were leaving, the parking lot was packed and I can imagine this being a place that gets filled and booked up if you don't come by a certain time. Pro tip: If you hike/walk/ride into the park, you can avoid the $25 parking fee. Other than that, be sure to bring your coral reef safe sunblock, pickup after yourself (and others if you love turtles), bring plenty of snacks and stay hydrated. Would I come to this beach as my main destination, probably not. For sure a one and done but absolutely enjoyed getting some beach and relax time.

There is one parking lot located across the pond that has a decent number of parking spaces. There is a trail on the other side of the parking lot that leads to the sand along with benches and picnic tables. In front, there is a big pond that is long, hence the name Long Pond. Looking on Google maps, you'll see why that's the name. Some changes have been made since we came this year with the main dock to dive from being moved to the side, with a note on it saying private property (I have a photo of it). Back then, anyone could dive from it. Another additional upgrade that was well needed was providing more benches in the sand. I find that to be very helpful for people who do not like sitting in the sand or just don't like laying in the sun. The beach has a decent size but most of the time, especially in the late afternoon to early evening, it will get packed. There is usually enough room toward the pond but may have to go into the back toward the woods. Motorboats are not allowed at this pond, in fact, any. However, paddle boats are allowed or in general anything nonmotor related. With that, have fun at Long Pond!

The one parking lot is very small and usually crowded but if you don't mind waiting 5 or 10 minutes, somebody is usually pulling out. There is also handicapped parking right next to the beach. There are two portopotties, no showers, no running water, and no food concessions. A no frills beach. The water is super clean in this kettle pond formed by glaciers thousand of years ago and no motorized boats are allowed. There is a decent sized wooden raft to swim out to and hang out or fool around, throwing each other off. This second option is popular with kids. The actualy beach used to be mostly grass which has slowly diminished over the years and is now mostly sand. There are two wood benches. There are shade trees in a few spots. Great for large groups up to maybe 15 or 20. You can access Long Pond Road from the center of town or Route 6 or Ocean View Drive. If you do not have a beach sticker, you will either get a ticket or be towed. I am not sure. Beach stickers are available on the town pier for those folks who have proof of residence, either as permanent ie own property or vacationers with proof of stay from the establishent where they are staying. Small sailboats and canoes are OK for this pond. There is a small connecting pond to the left of the beach.

This locale was getting towards the north part of the island where it turns towards the bay, but…read morethe beach appeared to be blocked off slightly before that turn came up. I was a bit worried that it seemed to be near the airport, but it's not some huge commercial airport and I did not experience a ton of distracting plan noise or anything. The beach here had a sharp dropoff and a lot of photogenic waves. I came because research suggested to me that this was a good area to see a seal, and while it was a bit before I spotted one, I ended up seeing quite a few. They were not sitting on the shore but were swimming in some pretty choppy water. Notably, seals are literal sharkbait, and so there was a lot of commentary when I read about the area on the risks associated with the seals' presence as their rising population has apparently attracted great whites to shallow waters near the beach. I am not a surfer and I like wildlife, so as a non-expert, this seems okay from my perspective but the whole issue is important to think about. There were plenty of other things to see, both in terms of wildlife and stuff watched up on the beach, and this was certainly top quality walking territory, even in dodgy weather.

I walked down to the beach over a blue mat laid down on the sand which made for easy walking. I little shocked to see warnings posted about sharks! As I neared the beach and the waves rolling in, I could see some people watching something out in the surf and was excited to see a seal swimming along in the waves, its head popping up occasionally. Spending time at Race Point Beach was one of the highlights of my trip to Provincetown and Cape Cod.

They closed off the parking lot 2 cars ahead of us and we arrived @ 10am, so heads up... you definitely gotta be there by 9! We were told they still had spots at Howes, and so off we went.. less than a 2 minute drive down the road, and we did secure a spot in the tiny parking lot. There is a steep inclined hill up to the beach, so be mindful of that if you're lugging a lot of stuff/kids. This is essentially the same beach as Corporation! Literally connected, which was great. You can also visit the facilities located at corporation if you wish, but there is also a porta potty available in the parking lot for those who don't wanna make the hike. The sandbars here are great! Lots of kids playing, perfect for toddlers and our 3 year loved making new friends. The water was cold but clear. We really loved our time here! $30 fee for those wondering. And not a far walk to the sandbars unlike Chapman. This is my newly appointed second favorite beach, the first being Corporation. (Maybe we will have better luck going there tomorrow...)
