I have a 7 year old daughter and 2 year old son - we visited today (Dad too) and had a spectacular time. Definitely recommend on a hot day for the splash pad. Only concern with the playground is it doesn't have a fence. The playground surface is accessible - almost feels springy under your feet.

It's a pretty quiet beach for the most part -- not too many people to be found. We found ourselves spending quite a bit time of here, in the early-late evening, and also in the morning. Let me say, the sky was beautiful, and nothing gets better than that. I noticed a couple of rock walls, at least at this location, and more going in each direction. Take caution, and don't get hurt. Enjoy and take every moment in. There is no lifeguard on duty at Sagamore Beach.

I called the parking dept and the lady was just plain nasty. so my suggestion is don't vacation there. how would I know you need a permit my first time there. I'll be going back to Maine.

The trails are mostly packed sand with a good amount of leaf accumulation making it a bit slippery on the wet day we visited.

Many people walk their dogs here, so poop is common but its not so bad that I don't come back. They let the grass grow tall throughout the summer allowing many birds and other small creatures to live there. Then they cut it short for the winter. Paths stay fairly clear, though they can get muddy after rain. Don't wear your best shoes here! Some paths head into the woods around the edge, so bring your bug repellent. My favorite part of the park is the rocks by the water and the grand view of the bay and the Standish Monument sticking up out of the trees in the distance.

As I write this (July 2024), the cost per vehicle is $25 for the public portion of the beach. I'm only familiar with this public portion of the beach, but it's a mixture of rocky sections and sandy sections mixed together. It was pretty busy when I was there, so I didn't want to make anyone feel uncomfortable by snapping pictures. I did capture a picture of the walk up over the sand dune, as well as some pictures from the awesome wooden bridge that leads to the entrance. There's an old-fashioned snack bar/ seafood joint near the parking lot entrance. Bonus: Very close by is Island Creek Oysters!

There are basketball courts, a baseball field, 2 tennis courts and a pretty nice playground overlooking the beach and ocean. It's a fantastic place to take a kayak out or do some fishing. There a slightly rocky beach that gradually goes into the ocean. This is clearly a local spot and even though it is less than 5 minutes from Plymouth Rock it was nearly empty on a Sunday afternoon. It's pet friendly and there were multiple dogs jumping in the ocean and running around. There are also some restrooms if needed. There was no parking fee either.

The parking is by meter for 2 hr limits. If you have handicap plate then it is Free parking. It's a very nice traditional Cap Code Town! I enjoyed the area quite a bit.

You can take a photo but a selfie is very challenging. We had a brief stop here on our organized tour after leaving Boston. We ate lunch nearby and walked down to the park. Nice restrooms and plenty of seats where you can enjoy the water. There's a replica of Mayflower II built and sailed from England. It's a working vessel. Its last voyage was in 1957. It's in the National Register of Historic Places.

We recently stayed at Myles Standish State Forest on site J26 in the Barretts Pond loop, and…read moreunfortunately, it wasn't quite what we expected. The site itself is situated at the top of a steep hill, which is not ideal if you have a car that sits low to the ground, our vehicle bottomed out trying to park, making it basically unusable for us in that spot. To make matters worse, the path to the site doubles as an access point to another campsite. So even if you could manage to park there, chances are high that your neighbors will end up parking in that same pathway, making it extremely difficult--if not impossible--for you to get to your site conveniently. It definitely felt like the layout of this area wasn't thought through for ease of access. The bathrooms in this loop left a lot to be desired. During our stay, they were extremely dirty and, at one point, there were a few hours without water or electricity. That said, there were a few positives. The small swimming pond in this section of the campground was actually quite charming. It's private to those staying at the loop, which makes it feel peaceful and far less crowded compared to other parts of the forest that have public access. It was nice to be able to relax there without the usual campground chaos. Overall, the serenity of the area was nice, but the site setup, parking issues, and bathroom conditions really took away from the experience. If you're considering this loop, especially site J26, I'd recommend looking into alternative spots within the forest that might be easier to access and are better maintained. I've been coming here for years and have had many experiences both good and bad. Check-in can take awhile, and lines can get long which is brutal in the heat, then your met with some people at the counters with attitudes that leave more to be desired. I'm sure there are better places to camp, but it is a staple.

The camping sites are deep in the forest, in fact it's bout 5 miles from the entrance to camping sites. Roads are paved and my own problem is having to constantly contend with bicyclists. (Read up on MA state law regarding bicyclists -- they have more right of way than I thought they did!) Be cautious of Masac. I saw the signs and didn't know what it was until I stumbled across the building one day. Yes, there is a prison facility in these woods!! Maybe that's why they have state park rangers at each camping "gate", and I fully appreciate that!
