We happened upon this restaurant basically because of our self claimed foodie tour guide. I did check the reviews and every one gave them good reviews so it had to be great, right? Unfortunately the restaurant did not meet the expectations we had going on with the raving reviews. First, we usually don't go to restaurants which line public squares and opt for those off the beaten path instead. We ordered pretty safe dishes that we know we usually like and have enjoyed many times at other restaurants in Rome. Our dishes included calamari, spaghetti cabonara, spaghetti pomodoro and lasagna. My daughter eats the cabonara all the time since she lives in Rome currently. Her pasta was undercooked and was slightly crunchy. The flavor of the sauce was tasty though, she said. The spaghetti pomodoro was good and the pasta was perfectly cooked, but the the cost was much more here for the same dish at other restaurants. My daughter and husband both love calamari, but they did not finish this appetizer. My son loves lasagna and usually eats it all up so fast! My husband kept encouraging him to eat it but would refuse. Finally, I had to try a bite even though I don't eat meat. Once I put the bite into my mouth, I immediately knew why he was refusing to eat it. The lasagna and the meat sauce was so terrible I don't think I could force him to finish it even if he were starving. The meat tasted like the smell of wet cat food and was not tender at all. Almost like the dish itself was burnt. The staff here was friendly though so I think if we come back here, we'll just get drinks. The hot chocolate was great! read more
