Up until a few years ago you really couldn't find macarons in any local bakeries, so I would only indulge on my trips into larger cities. Now, you can more readily find them but quality differs. I've been wanting to try Moonflower for many months now and had a chance the other day. Their marketing game is on point, beautifully packaged and presented product. The shop is set back from the road so you can easily miss it, maybe some additional signage would help. The shop is consistent with their refined aesthetic but is tiny, maybe only two customers can be in the shop simultaneously. The younger staff who helped me was very nice and knowledgeable about the product. The macarons are sublime, gorgeous and authentic (crisp on outside, proper feet, slight interior chew). The flavor variety is delightful. I love that some of the flavors are unique and unexpected such as frosted animal cookie. My favorite was the pistachio raspberry, there was an actual raspberry in the center. They change up their flavors every month. Truly a one of a kind bakery in the area. Clearly a lot of care goes into the product. I will return again and again. Merci!

They have a wood fired pizza oven and the tables were brought out several different pizzas to start our meal. They were perfectly cooked, thin crust and various toppings. Our buffet started and it was a crispy, fresh Caesar salad with 2 kinds of dressing. There was Italian bread and the main course was Chicken Francaise. The chicken was thin, tender and had a beautiful egg coating and the lemony sauce was full of flavor. I ended up putting my chicken on the Caesar salad and using a little of the balsamic dressing.... perfect. They served cannolis for dessert and they had crisp shells and a creamy filling. As we were leaving, one of the servers offered me a takeout container with some slices of leftover pizza.....it was perfect for lunch the next day. Hollenbeck's is my go to for cider and donuts in the fall…read more The line is almost always out the door in the fall so be prepared to wait. While you wait you can select a peck or bushel of apples, or maybe send a scout out to the baked goods and fudges, or watch the old cider press in action. When you reach the donuts you can pick from powered sugar, cinnamon powdered sugar, or plain. Personally I think plain is the best because they are hot, crispy, pillowy delights. There is a limit in that you can only buy 4 dozen donuts per person. The cider itself fresh pressed right before your eyes. Two people work together to layer the mash and wood pallets on a very old and incredible press. The cider is well filter and not as sweet as other ciders but very good! One note: you cannot buy cups of the cider- you have to buy a half gallon or gallon and then open it outside. On the pie side you can actively see and smell the pies being made. If you would like a pie for a special occasion you might want to call ahead to reserve one as they sell FAST. In the cold cases on the pie side is also where the cheese curds, summer sausage, and some meets such as elk and lamb are available. The great thing is the baked goods are available all year, so Hollenbeck's is a great stop even in the spring and summer. Also of note it smells like pressed apples ALL YEAR! Parking- one entrance, one exit. There is parking in the front and back, and some street parking as well.

Stopped in to buy cookies with a friend. The girl behind the counter waited on the friend first…read more The girl was wearing gloves, reached in an grabbed the cookies, put them in a box and rang the friend up, taking cash and counting back the change. Then came my turn for my cookies, I told her what I wanted and the girl proceeded to pick my cookies out, without changing her gloves. I ended up paying for the cookies because I didn't want to embarrass my friend, and when I got a chance I called the bakery and complained. It is nasty to handle food after handling money! It's disgusting and when I received a very nonchalant response from the bakery, I reached out on Instagram. The response there was that they were, too, disgusted and would be addressing this with that employee, and would refund the $16 I spent on the cookies. They never did and I will not go back. They may have really good cookies, but their hygiene policy sucks!
