So he ordered a pulled pork sandwitch, about 3 or 4 sausage links, and some brisket...total bill -more than $80!!! I should have learned from that experience. But yesterday, I ordered a 1/4 chicken and a pulled pork sandwitch. Meat was reasonably priced. But, I made the mistake of including pint of their "homemade coleslaw" to go with the meal without asking the price. Contents were chopped cabbage, with a little bit of something added - cost $14!!! For that much money, I could have bought more than 16 lbs of cabbage at WalMart! So, IF I return, I've learned to order only meat, that's expensive enough.

Earlier in the day, bae out of the blue messages me to pack our bag for a surprise roadtrip! He doesn't tell me where we are going but that he booked a hotel and has a place in mind for dinner. We ended up in Lake Charles for a 7pm reservation at La Truffe Sauvage. We were warmly greeted and sat down at a corner table topped with a single yellow rose for the evening. If you didn't know, yellow roses are my favorite! It was definitely fate that brought us there. We began the night with their warm complimentary bread and an order of their beef carpaccio with the fluffiest truffle potato chip I've ever had. What came next was their breadcrumb crusted goat cheese laying beautifully on a bed of spinach. Followed by their creamed artichoke soup hidden under a cloud of puffed pastry. For entrees, we shared their crispy snapper and fresh tagliatelle with shrimp. All in all, an incredible meal. Everything was perfect with the person sitting next to me, all the love in the air, combined with an impeccable meal, a girl couldn't ask for more. The only letdown of the night was that we were too full for dessert. I'll just have to meet their soufflé in my dreams tonight. -Sailor out

Atmosphere - Clearly I sat at the wrong bar tonight. I did not even see the second bar until I left. I pretty much had the whole section to myself. I think the place is made up of a few old homes. They have a beautiful out door area but it was raining on and off all day, thus I sat inside. Food Drink - I had a pint of the GLLRGA, a solid double hazy IPA, by Rally Cap Brewing Company . I also had a sample of Red Nose Reinbeer, the bartender tought I would like based on our beer discussions. This was a seasonal beer by Urban South Brewery Dinner - Boudin balls caught my eye off the app menu. So I started with those. I also did not order more after that. The dish had five balls on it. I felt these balls were closer to hush puppies as I was not getting much of the boudin sausage vibe from these bites. Service - When your name has the word Brewing in it, I feel the place should have beer that they produced at the location. Not here, that is why they lost a star on service. They do focus on local beers, which is cool. My bar tender was great. Future - Sure, knowing this is a beer house instead of a brewery.

Maplewood Burgers is amazing a local place I discovered in Sulphur, and I'm really glad I did. This…read moreis the original location on Maplewood Drive that gave it its name. This location seems like a cross between a restaurant and a convenience store, but don't let its humble appearance fool you. There's some great burgers to be had here! I guess we should start with the headliners, which are the stuffed burgers! These hearty creations have a variety of fillings stuffed into the center of the hamburger meat itself, making them a huge moist juicy and delicious handful! The variety of fillings includes mushrooms and Swiss; boudin; BBQ brisket; and even macaroni and cheese. These are a great choice, but one can also get a plain old fashioned hamburger or cheeseburger with toppings outside of the patty if one wishes. There are a choice of breads for these, so if you want it on Texas Toast or a Jalapeno Bun, it's all good! Then you need a side. There are of course fries and onion rings, but also tater tots and sweet potato fries. If you have any room left they have a pretty nice selection of ice cream and frozen treats. This location is just north of I-10, so it's convenient to stop into for a quick lunch. If one is so inclined, you could get an order to go, and enjoy a picnic at the nearby Maplewood Park.

I started with the Xpresso martini, and Honey had That Smoke which more or less is a smoked Old Fashioned. I'm an Old Fashioned snob, but boy did they deliver... The presentation, smell, and taste.. it's off the charts. The martini is rich in color and taste. I haven't EVER had a martini taste this amazing! We started off with the meatball appetizer. It came with the most amazing bread and red sauce... this was amazing we inhaled it. Our dinner, we chose the ribeye, but cooked like the smoked pork rib eye style, was over the top. He chose a Caesar salad, I chose the loaded baked potato soup that was offered as today's special. Oh My Lanta and stomach. I have NEVER and I mean NEVER had such an amazing soup! This was so rich and lovely to my taste buds! The main course came out exceptional and quickly! We couldn't even eat it all! The sear, the flavor, 10 out of 10! Blake and his crew have everything on point! We chose to have the chocolate chip cheesecake for dessert bc why the heck not? I added a cup of coffee with cream and sugar bc I was gonna need to stay awake to drive home... Oh My SWEET STOMACH AND TASTE BUDS..... We inhaled that cheesecake... loved it so much we got some to go... Please come here!!! I absolutely Iove this place!!!
