Taking the creole nature trail from Houston to New Orleans was worth it. This food truck is an oasis in the middle of no where. All the local workers come here for lunch. They have daily plate lunches that seem very popular. I got the famous kickin' shrimp Po boy. The shrimp are fresh and grilled perfect. Add stringy cheese and crispy bacon. Throw on a creamy mayo type spice sauce and you are in heaven. The heat in not to spicy but just right. I got crinkle fries with it and they were so hot and crispy. Over all I highly recommend you taking this route to New Orleans if only for this meal. read more

So happy we stopped here for lunch. 24 ounce soda and sweet tea. The kickin shrimp were great. Smothered in melted cheese and served with two pieces of bacon and an hard boiled egg. Watch out cholesterol! Served on a bed of shredded lettuce. The shrimp basked came with fries. Christ and tasty. read more

This place is a great little place to eat along the side of the road. Their kickn shrimp poboy is amazing, definitely gonna go back with the family next time we're down in that neck of the woods. You could definitely taste the freshness in the seafood, didn't have to wait long for the order and there was ample seating. We took the creole nature trail from Texas through Louisiana and Anchors Up was along the trail. The building itself didn't look like much but the food was great and the staff were super friendly. We felt very welcome here and like we were part of the family. My father had the burger and he was very impressed, I had the BLT it was loaded with bacon, my husband had the po boy shrimp sandwich which was full of flavor, my daughter and picky eater had chicken tenders she ate every last one. It was a great stop on our vacation from Indiana through Louisiana. read more

We stopped here for lunch while driving along the Creole Nature Trail. We got friendly service while we placed our order, and the food came out quickly and hot. We had a Kickin' Shrimp Po Boy and a Shrimp Po Boy. These were both absolutely delicious. It's hard to say which one was better! The seasoning on the Po Boy was amazing, the bread was fresh, and they were loaded with shrimp. Even the tea here was good. In fact, our lunch was so good when we took a second drive on the Trail on a different day we made sure we waited to eat so we could stop here a second time and have lunch. we travel this route once a year, and wanted to stop last year, this year we did stop to eat. The Kicken Shrimp PoBoy is literally off the charts, the wife had a cheese burger with everything, and it really looked good, and she ate every single piece of it. Had fries which were perfect. Highly recommend stopping here, the line of workers eating there is a huge testament, it's really good, they give you plenty! read more

What a little hidden gem. We passed by it on the way home from the beach & I am so glad we stopped. I got the kicking shrimp poboy and it was the best shrimp poboy I've ever had. My daughter got the grilled chicken salad and it was huge. She made 2 meals out of it. We will definitely be stopping by whenever we go to the beach again. read more

First: Let's face it. There's not much to choose from here. So..... Let's overlook that this place is minimalist at best when it comes to shelter from the elements or service. The food was great. The people were nice. It was the last-choice stop on the way to the ferry. It's a good place to stop for some satisfying food, and even a milkshake. I had a kickin' shrimp Po'Boy. It was awesome. I will overlook that the bread was just a hot dog bun, because the contents were delicious. read more

Yum! Not a fancy joint, but the food was delish. Shrimp po boy was generous with the shrimp, not the bread like most places. Shrimp was crispy and well-seasoned. Onion rings were perfect, and we washed it all down with a big cup of Coke. read more

Great food and friendly people. There isn't many options in Cameron Louisiana when it comes to grabbing something to eat, however this little place is a blessing. We had shimp poboy with curly fries and a cheeseburger both were great and the serving size was more than enough. The shimp is purchased locally and it shows because my poboy was delicious. When I woke up in Cameron La. this morning, I thought " damn is there anywhere to have breakfast in this intercoastal crabbing town.?" after asking Yelp the same question, I was directed to the only establishment open.. Anchor's Up.. breakfast quickly slid from the table when I asked the owner what she suggested.. immediately she said the kicking shrimp poboy is their biggest seller.. kick, slap, punch ,and suplex is more like it.. what a surprise this one of a kind poboy delivered. I hope to never have any reason to return to Cameron La.. but if I do.. you can bet your last dollar I'll be returning to anchor's up for the kick ass kicking shrimp Po boy read more

I had seen this place many times but never stopped in because I really didn't want stadium style food. I couldn't have been more wrong. I ordered the chicken fried steak sandwich and what a whopper! Big ol chicken fried steak poked out of every side of the bun. It will really fill you up. Staff was very friendly and definitely worth the stop. Two day fishing trip in Cameron and I ate there both days, as well as my brothers on day two. One had a burger and the other the CFS sandwich. I will eat here on every trip now. read more

Stopped around 4pm to grab a burger and fries while in Cameron. The cheeseburger was fresh and delicious! The patty was good sized and had not been frozen. Had the perfect pickle, tomato, onion and lettuce (green leaf) ratio. Loved the jalapeño mayonnaise! The crinkle cut fries were hot and not heavily seasoned. Great for me since I prefer less salt anyway. Very filling and a good value. Appreciate the free refills on the iced tea. read more

How does one justify driving nine miles to the ferry, only to just miss the scheduled departure by a minute, and then wait another half hour for the next ferry? Having visited Anchor's Up Grill a year earlier, it really was a no-brainer. Forget that I was in Holly Beach in January, and there were no other options but to eat a home prepared lunch. I knew what I wanted and was not disappointed. The Kickin' Shrimp Po'boy was on my radar, and I was not to be deprived of it. An eight inch French roll, topped with lots of large shrimps, cheese (Monterey Jack?), spicy mayo, and lots of well done bacon. It was a delish! My companion, being gluten sensitive, settled for the meat loaf with red gravy. Perhaps that is more of a local thing, because she did not expect there to be green peppers in the meat loaf, which really detracted from the meal. The French fries that accompanied the Po'boy were nicely fried crinkle cuts. I am a Heinz ketchup person, but the Red Gold ketchup supplied had a wonderful almost sweet flavor that was far superior to the generic food trade packets that proliferate the backwater food stands. Po'boy gets an A. Meat loaf gets a C-. I would return for another Kickin' Shrimp Po'boy. read more

I had my first Po-Boy sandwich here!!! Small place, you walk up and order at the window...outdoor seating right next to the water. Wow! My sandwich was HUGE!! Upstairs for counter service (elevated like most places in Cameron for the storm surge). Open but covered dining area down stairs in front. Fresh food. Had a wonderful roast beef po boy. Great gravy flavor. As them to add the veggies if you like a more traditional NOLA style take. On a soft bun, a bit different from the more traditional crusty french roll, but works real well. Partner had their cheeseburger and was certainly not disappointed. Nice stop and a good thing, because there aren't a lot of other places to eat in Cameron since Rita. read more

Stopped by on a drive through the creole nature trail enjoyed a shrimp poor boy and a shrimp dinner with fried okra and some fresh tasty iced tea. It was all nicely fried and not greasy. Service was friendly and we enjoyed eating on the patio. Nothing fancy but good for a beach roadside stand. read more

We were both immediately impressed with the transformation! It was dark and moody but the lamps were still bright enough to read the menu. It was elegant but still comfortable enough that we weren't afraid to have conversation (some restaurants we have visited with similar ambiance makes you feel like you have to be quiet, Augustine was not like this which we appreciated). We ordered drinks, me a thyme sour; delicious and refreshing, him a sweet tea. We were given the freshest, fluffiest, softest bread with a surprising no herb butter. We both gave it a 9/10 We ordered the crab cake appetizer. We are crab cake snobs so it was only right we did. We both instantly agreed that these were the best crab cakes we have had in a restaurant setting by far! They were full of actual crab meat, lightly fried with what I believe were bread crumbs and not a thick flour batter. The best way to do it in my opinion. They came with the tastiest, citrus remoulade sauce. I could've put that sauce on everything. We both also gave these a 9/10 only because as much as we loved the sauce they drowned our cakes in it and we had to scrape some off. For our entrees we ordered the fish Augustine and the duck breast. Normally cooked medium we asked that our duck be cooked medium rare (that's how we like it) and the kitchen knocked it out the park! Again, the best duck breast we have had in a restaurant setting to date (even better than the duck breast we had a Michelin star restaurant for my birthday previously ). They paired it with the crispiest soft roasted potatoes and a blackberry sauce that was perfect in my opinion. I gave this a 10/10 he gave it a 9/10..-1 for no reason. The fish Augustine good but not great especially compared to the duck dish. The fish, grouper was cooked perfectly in my opinion and was soft and flaky however it lacked flavor. It comes with a few shrimp that are listed as gulf shrimp but these shrimp immediately tasted imported to me..rubbery and the taste of freezer burn. The asparagus were my favorite part of the dish only because they tasted normal to me. The sauce on the bottom was good but I found myself dredging the fish and asparagus through it in order to get some kind of flavor in my mouth which is disappointing. We both rated this a 5/10 shrimp being a 1/10. There was a little hiccup in the kitchen with our courses that resulted in us waiting longer than average for our entrees but our server, Corey, more than made up for it with dessert! We got a regular crème brûlée and a strawberry champagne layered cake. Both desserts were exceptional and the perfect ending to our date night. Overall we gave our experience a solid 8/10 and will definitely be back even if it is just for the duck breast

He is an exceptional guy; he made sure we were taken care of from seating us to making sure our every need was seen to. The food was great. My daughter had the seafood nachos, my husband had the smothered steak and kids had hamburger and chicken strips. Everything was seasoned well and came out quickly. We really enjoyed the atmosphere. I reminisced about my grandfather being a tugboat captain as we watched the boats going by. It was outdoors but it is covered and they had lots of fans.
