I walked out of there feeling like I just had a one on one lesson. The prices were reasonable and comparable with other camera stores along with the warranties. I feel there is a huge difference purchasing camera equipment from an experienced teacher/photographer then going to a local store and dealing with a sales clerk . What a great buying journey I had with Jeff and his staff. My first visit, I was treated to a tutorial on how to select a telescope that was right for me. They spent a good hour with me, answering all my questions with no pressure to buy. The next day I returned and made my purchase. Excellent astronomy purchase experience for a novice astronomy enthusiast. I had just received a telescope as a birthday gift and was looking to upgrade my eyepiece and/or get a Barlow lens to improve planetary viewing. The owner Jeff was extremely courteous and helpful from the moment I walked in and took the time to calculate the appropriate eyepiece for my equipments focal length. The piece I purchased proved to have excellent optics and the price was competitive with online pricing especially given the paucity of availability of astronomy gear during the covid-19 pandemic. The owner Jeff is an ignorant and rude human being. Don't go to this place unless you absolutely feel the need to be insulted and put down. He doesn't sell camcorders so, go figure that one out. He is nasty and impatient so don't waste your time on this dump. Go to a Legit camera store. It was 6 months later not 5 years later as he states in his reply. Great service! I walked in with a hand me down telescope and a Jeff and his staff treated me as if I just spent thousands of dollars in his store. What I thought was going to be a costly repair turned out to be an easy fix. My son has been collecting cameras for over 15 years and we had what we thought were vintage cameras from the 50s and 60s...we were recommended to cameras concepts and brought the box of cameras in today. When I told the gentleman that we had vintage cameras he looked at our cameras and laughed at us, he was very condescending and basically told us what we had was what everyone had. I have been getting my film processed here for years. One of the only places locally that can develop both Black & White, and Color 35mm, and medium format films. The prices on camera equipment are a little higher than you will find online, but I like to support local businesses and buy some smaller items and film from them on occasion. I can understand how some of the other reviewers found the staff unwelcoming, but once you talk with them and get to know them, they are quite nice and easy to do business with. read more

It's stores like this take make internet ordering so appealing. I used to work for a Nation Newspaper. After digitizing my old (15 years) negs. the paper returned them but they needed cleaning. I called Camera Concepts and they said they had what I needed. I got there and I was treated rudely, to say the least. I tried a few more time to get some information but they must be doing so well they don't need clients. I just left Expect to be treated poorly if you want something out of the ordinary. read more

I've been a regular customer for years and keep going back for astronomy items. Customer care is job number one for Jeff, the owner. If you have a problem of any kind, ask for Jeff. He stands behind everything he sells and in the past has gotten a manufacturer to fully refund a telescope for me. When there were two dealers on Long Island, Jeff consistently had a little better price although you might find better prices on line. I am actually shocked, disappointed and confused by the several people who said that Jeff is rude or otherwise not professional to deal with. Whereas I am NOT 'targeting' anyone who has written something negative, I have to wonder if the people who came in and claimed a 'bad' experience were not a tad unreasonable themselves. From the moment I met them (when they were in Patchogue,) I was thrilled that I had not only found a place that does 35mm film (Maria, you are a genius,) but where the people are LOVELY. I, too, had shown them cameras which I thought might be more valuable than they were, and Jeff was so professional, etc, when telling me otherwise. Jeff is actually funny, talented and crazy kind to everyone I have ever seen come in there. I pop in at least once a month, be it for film, advice, or just to say hello. That means I see the customers who are in there, and how he, and the rest of the crew, present themselves to their clientele. They are so respected. And, the venue is not just a store, it's like a museum, where everything can be bought! It's a place to bring children who appreciate the solar system. My first and only experience here was horrible. I put a camera on layaway and while it was on layaway they raised the price by $200. THEN they tried to say I didn't make a $200 payment and i had to argue with them to get that $200 off what i owed! read more

AND the receipt i got today (after not paying anymore toward the extra $600 they wanted from me) didn't even show my most recent $200 payment. read more

Well I have delt with this store starting in 1980 or so with a small telescope, through the years I have bought small items and do dads ! well after 25 years my big private sale telescope just had had enough. So after a long thought I said it was time to buy! Got in touch with Camera concepts and Jeff the owner took me by the hand and step by step I got to step up with my telescope purchase to totally meet my observing needs! When the telescope was delivered, Marie stopped her day and got with me right away to assemble the telescope. And had my prior phone order for lenses ready to go ! but wait it gets better !!
