A corporate-owned veterinary clinic. Same owners own this place and Sun City Animal Hospital. The vet was decent but they nickel & dimed me when I needed a second-opinion on my senior dog. (And still didn't diagnose the presenting problem). I'm beyond aggravated b/c they are not patient-centered here. Probably okay if you are just doing annual exams or vaccines but if you have an animal who needs ongoing, comprehensive care you'll need to take out a second mortgage to get quality care here. I do not recommend because they saw my dog for a full appointment, complete with full blood panel, then, two weeks later demanded my dog be seen for another full appointment before prescribing pain treatment for him. We brought our cat in for coughing. The vet, who is no longer there, told us we didn't need to spent $$$$ in treatment and assured us that his coughing wasn't severe. We told her we wanted another cat for our cat, and she brought out 5 kittens that were just born in their office from a local stray. We ended up adopting two kittens who have our whole hearts! While our original vet is no longer there, all the vets we've seen for our 3 cats and 2 dogs have been incredible and kind. Our kittens (now 7 months old) just had spay surgeries and the team was so sweet and assuring for this anxious cat mom. We're so grateful for the entire team at Camelwest! Then, at 5:20pm the day before my appointment, I get a text saying my appointment was cancelled due to failure to pay a $50 deposit that at I wasn't told about. The message said they called me; they didn't. Also said to call the office with any questions, but when I tried to call, the answering machine said they closed at 5pm. Ended up having to take my dogs to an urgent care vet instead, since we were going out of town the next day. I always like to give people the benefit of the doubt! Let me start out by saying this was the worst vet experience I have ever had with a 6-month-old German Shepherd puppy. Also have a 3-year-old husky and never experience a negative approach taken as soon as I walked in the door. My puppy had been having digestive problems, vomiting, diarrhea and she wasn't at the precise weight for 6 months. Let me summarize! The receptionist was rude, nasty, disrespectful and had no sensitivity to how she approached me. I am 55 years old, very patient, outgoing and demand respect, mindfulness when I'm spending my money at any establishment. I tried to get an appointment at Petco but it was so far out they didn't have any openings. Yes my puppy behaved very badly I have never seen her like that before. She did not like the smell, the surroundings and the atmosphere at all. It was really weird seeing her behave that way. Veterinarian Sander was who handled our visit. Once my puppy came back from getting her labs done I asked Ms Sanders did she weigh her! Her response yes 21 lb. That didn't sound right to me so I just left it there. Today is Saturday April 13th Petco owed me a visit so we did that today. Yalla My German Shepherd 6-month-old puppy is 27.5 lb. Clearly Ms Sanders didn't weigh her. This is where I talk about giving the benefit of the doubt. I didn't feel right about this visit at all and will not be returning. I made a suggestion to Ms Sanders that the receptionist be more mindful with their approach when dealing with customers. read more

Camelwest Animal Hospital has been caring for our pets for years. Everyone from the front office staff to the techs and the doctors are loving and caring people. One of our dogs got Valley Fever, the staff has be caring for her and helping us out. The only thing I wished, is that when she was diagnosed, I had no idea what Valley Fever was, so I had to do all of my own research. It would have been really nice if the doctor would have taken time to explain the disease, and its treatment to me just to help me understand and to put my mind at ease. I have gone to two different websites seeking information about this nasty disease and while speaking to the doctor, in office about it, either she is uneducated about the disease as well or the information online is outdated, because she has said "Oh that has nothing to do with Valley Fever" but I read about it on the website dedicated to information on Valley Fever in dogs. This review is long overdue. In February of this year, I noticed my bunny Alice did not eat one day and looked like she was in pain. GI issues with rabbits are a life or death situation, it's the silent killer for them. As there's no emergency vets that take rabbits nearby I started calling every vet in the valley that sees rabbits and none could get Alice in, not even our normal vet. I called Camelwest and they were able to get Alice in right away that morning. Dr McCready was so caring and and was able to help save Alice's life. She explained everything very thoroughly and let me know all possible options. She even called me a few days after the appointment to check in on Alice!! I've never had a vet call to check inI was able to get a follow up appointment the next week as well. I was sent home with extra medicine just in case Alice had another issue. I can tell that Dr McCready legitimately cared about Alice and wanted to make sure she would be ok. We lost our dog after four years because of a bad reaction to a vaccine. Dr Mcready was as devastated as we were. She called us personally several times and reached out to the vaccine manufacturers with details so they could learn from our experience. This was her first experience with this type of negative reaction. She did not have to do this but she did. All of our animals (three dogs, three birds) were taken to this vet over the years. Sadly all passed over time. We would recommend them for their compassion and concern with all of our animals. Unfortunately, they gave my bunny two doses of pain meds, which killed him. It was supposed to be two doses of hydrating fluid. I wouldn't take any animal here based on what was clearly said to my husband and I that they were giving him more fluid and instead gave him another pain med shot reflected in our bill. We were led to believe he would get better. It was stated to give him critical care feeding at 9 p.m. and instead died minutes after we left the facility. I asked to book my next appointment and they asked for what, and I asked what shots were next for our puppy? She barked back at me telling me I should know how old my dog is and what shots were up next. I stated that's what I was trying to clarify and after 4 times of asking to schedule my next visit, they finally understood and scheduled the appointments. Where to start with this place in the short 2 visits I will ever make there again. My dog had a broken toe so I found these guys and they had good reviews so I wanted to get it taken ASAP so I went there and not the New River Vet where I normally do. We got everything taken care of and they were great at first. Here's where it all went down hill. I went in and with their recommendations to have them wrap it and put a splint on it. They act as they have never put a splint on a large dog knew what they were doing. Not 3 hours later it had pretty much fallen off so I took it off completely. It was discomforting and a $70 band aid more the less. Let's remember he was on pain meds and laying around, he wasn't running or anything to make it fall off. So I emailed back and said to drop 4 appointments, one a week to change the bandage, which was another $55 each visit. They wanted me to sign some paper that I wasn't following Dr. Sanders recommendations, not saying he wasn't taken care of because he was, just not by Dr. Sanders. But when I didn't want to do what the doctor asked, they pretty much turned into a**holes and tried acting in a demanding way, sorry but that doesn't fly for me. I got the emails to prove it. I've never had a worse vet experience in my life, not sure who these people are but they should stop trying to bully people because they wanted to do something different. I just laughed and said okay. Moral of the story is, don't waste your time with these guys, I will be going back to see Dr. Sara at our vet in New river. Our pug was a new patient for this office. During the call for scheduling no one mentioned that you cannot go inside and that someone will come out to get your dog. So it was a surprise for when my husband and daughter showed up with our pug that they wouldn't be let in. I was on the phone with my husband at the time and he was frustrated and he mentioned that he was unhappy and didn't understand why he had to wait outside when the office is huge and social distancing could be utilized. We get worried about not being with our dogs, because things DO happen and we feel we have a right to protect our family member. But my husband conceded. The interaction was only seconds long and my pug went inside. Since I was on the phone the whole time I know he hardly raised his voice, he only voiced his frustration. No apology, nothing from the person who took our dog. Despite everything we really liked the care our pug received. Until we got a letter in the mail saying we have been cancelled as patients! Well fine then, you don't need our money! Fact: you didn't tell us we would have to wait in our vehicle Fact: my husband was frustrated yes, but polite, I was on the phone with him, I heard the girl on the other side and I heard them take our dog Fact: the interaction between my husband and this person was short Fact: my husband didn't say a word when our dog came back out. Fact: we where happy with the care Fact: we won't be back! Edited to add: if you where so upset over my husband then why even take the dog???? Dr McCready and the caring staff at Camelwest saved my cat's life. He was a feral with a degloved tail and rear which had been that way for approximately 2 years as a feral visiting our family. We finally built enough trust and captured him, then was told by the shelter that he was too sick for treatment. So, then we took him to Dr McCready (already the vet for our house cats) and she said that if we were willing to be patient, she was eager to try a few ideas to help him. We gave him TLC at home while Dr McCready treated him each week until his skin grew back enough to amputate the degloved tail. Treatment took about 4 months, then several more trying to get his continuous infections to heal. After about 9 months he was finally healed. He was no longer feral because we had been loving him, and he decided to live with us. We are so grateful for the care given to him at Camelwest. It truly saved his life. The staff and Dr McCready really care about their patients and they are amazing at what they do. Another vet might've recommended putting him down but Dr McCready said let's try a few things first and it worked. Forever grateful to her and her staff. read more

Unfortunately, since we are still living in a "Covid" world many experiences are greatly affected. I am new in town and needed a new vet for my fur child Rambo. You read that right...fur child not a dog. Anyway, CamelWest is literally across the street so I thought it would be a good fit, nice and close. I scheduled the appointment for Rambo, just a checkup and he needed a refill on his flea and tick meds. I was called the two days before to confirm the appointment and was told they were doing "curbside check-in" and that I was going to be sent a client intake form via text to complete before. I did see a review after all of this of a person who was upset that she did not get to go inside with her dog for the appointment SO I was already prepared for that but still kept the appointment. Our appointment was at 8 am and I was instructed to call when we got there but not before 8 am as the phones do not come on until then. I am always early so Rambo and I waited in the car as we saw a vet tech bouncing in and out speaking to the car next to me. Right at 8 am I called to "check-in" and let them know we were here. Shortly after the vet tech came out and asked me a few questions. Since we are new I had Rambo's records and his medications in hand. Very nice sweet girl. She went back in and came out to get Rambo who almost pulled her down the street, sorry! He is a 92 pound GSD and was nervous. I of course was not allowed to go in with him and I knew he was stressed. about 10 to 15 minutes later the Doctor called me on my cell to update me on the findings of Rambo's visit. And shortly after Rambo was brought back to me and I loaded him up and took him home and showered him with treats. I want to make it clear that the staff was very nice and friendly and I felt like Rambo was in good hands or I would have NEVER let him go in. My 3-star review is for the simple fact that the world is reopening and we should be moving past "contactless visits" and "curbside check-in" in my opinion. I am happy to update a review when I can actually go in and meet the Vet. The Doctor wants to see him back in 2 weeks to follow up BUT I will not go through that again.
