    Camelot special
    Karen T.

I can't believe this was my first time at Camelot and not my last! I went on a Friday at around 1:30pm it was packed and we got the last table. Then a larger line built, wow I got a root beer on tap! It was refreshing and I got the Camelot special with everything in it. Yummy oysters, big chuck of fish, loved the shrimps. I usually like skinny fries but these were different, it had a nice creamy baked potato texture in the middle, which liked. It was perfect fried basket of goodness.

Came in for dinner last night while staying in Pacifica. It's a teeny tiny little pub and it filled up really quick shortly after we got there. The service was good- order/pay at the counter and they bring it out to you when ready. I ordered fish and chips and fried clams and all of it was great! The fish was crispy on the outside and tender and flaky on the inside. I really enjoyed the fries also, nice crisp on the outside and fluffy inside.

I remember coming here with my family when I was younger and it was not how I remember it. $54 for 2 combinations, which contained 1 fish, 1 crab cake, and fries. The fish was okay but the batter on the fish was bland and not as crispy as it used to be, even slightly falling off. The fries are unsalted and very dry. Of course everything is fried but everything was quite heavy/ full of oil. You order at the register and it's then delivered to your table. The place is quite small and I noticed some waiting for tables. This place has been here for forever but in my opinion there are other more affordable and tastier fish and chip spots.

Such a cute spot, nice pub with date night lighting. Really enjoyed the fish it was hot and crispy, the fries were solid, but the fish was the star here.

Camelot is a classic English-style restaurant with a very small, cozy interior -- about eight small tables and two bar seats. The atmosphere and decor are great and really sell the pub feel. You order at the counter and then sit, which works well given how busy it gets. A lot of people call in orders, and the place fills up quickly, but the food comes out fast and people tend to rotate through at a steady pace. It's a very simple menu with about seven protein choices, all done in the same classic fish-and-chips style, which keeps things easy and efficient. They do a proper Guinness pour, along with a few other solid beer options. The fish is Icelandic pollock -- not local, which I was hoping for -- but it is the traditional English pub choice. It's wild-caught, sustainable, and honestly a good quality fish even if it's not local.

Do one thing and excel at it. Exactly what is going on here. Firstly the pieces of cod are huge ! About the size of a palm . So order accordingly to hunger level. Crispy tender fish and perfectly fried chips. Paired with a pint of Guinness and we are home free. Service is friendly and efficient. Ambiance is British pub. If you sit outside wear proper clothing. Pacifica in the winter is chilly . JYW highly recommends

Visit 7/4/2025 at 1:30pm Overall rating for fish and chips: 3.25 stars Camelot Fish & Chips has been on my list of spots for fish and chips! Place is small and only has 6 tables with a few window seating. So if plan on dining in, put your name on the wait list and expect a 10-15min wait during peak hours. No outdoor seating. I opted to take my order to go and graze in my car as I was taking a short break from visiting a relative at the rehab center nearby. If your first time, order/pay at the counter and wait outside for about 10 mins. Someone will come out and let you know when ready. Fish (pollock) was flaky, cooked perfectly with a light, crunchy exterior I expect from a delicious fish and chips. Sadly, the "chips" or fries were oddly DRY, spongy with no crisp at all. It wasn't due to take out as I dug into those fries while hot. Reheating them later would just make them drier...and I rarely leave a potato behind. Will definitely try them again as they have clam strips and fried mushrooms that I would get next time. Possibly the dry fries was just a bad day...Limited bottled beer and deep-fried Twinkies and Mars bar available Staff friendly and efficient. Pricing for 2pc fish and chips: $21 incl tax. Plenty of street and lot parking across the street

A strong contender for the title of "Best Fish and Chips in the Bay". I came 30 minutes before closing to see if I could grab a table to quickly eat but we were not rushed, in fact it was still busy up until closing. It's warm and cozy inside with the all the UK/Irish decor and lights. We ordered onion rings, a tall lager, and a Camelot combo (oysters, shrimp, 1pc fish, and chips). The onion rings were tasty but the breading was kind of thick. The seafood was great. But the highlight was definitely the fish. While everything else is panko breaded, the batter on the fish is crispy and airy, with the fish itself being fresh and flaky. Chips are also made British style, not the same as fries! Wash everything down with a cold beer and you're set.

Delightful experience visiting Camelot! =D The vibe here is casual and friendly. You feel like you've stepped into a fish & chips joint in London upon entering. You go up to the counter to order your food, which they then deliver to your table. The fish & chip is yummy here with the usual fix'ns (vinegar, tartar sauce). In addition to the quality of the food, I appreciate the flexibility offered here: you can specify the # of fish pieces you want, and whether you'd want chips with your fish, onion rings, sweet potato fries, etc. I opted for fish + sweet potato fries, and the staff member essentially order a 2-piece side of fish + a sweet potato fries side for me, which was perfect! They have Guinness on tap here. Were we not going on a hike after, I would've gotten it. Next time!

I forgot to take pics of the food because it was eaten so quickly- that should tell you how much I enjoyed Camelot! We ordered a plethora of fried seafood including the fish and shrimp as well as the chicken tenders, mushrooms, and a side order of sweet potato fries in addition to the regular fries. The food came out in about 10 minutes and the young guy who took our order was super friendly and hooked us up with all kinds of condiments to-go! I thought the fish here was a huge win! Well fried and seasoned with a super thin batter. I wasn't a huge fan of the thick cut British style fries, but I know that is the traditional way and the menu did warn of that! The shrimp was great and chicken tenders are a huge portion. I thought the pricing was competitive to other places in the area as well. If you choose to eat in, you'll enjoy the fun British decor and classic pub vibes. Be sure to check it out!

Craving some crispy fish--we went on an international tour looking for crispy fried fish. This was it. The fish served were crispy fried fish . We were able to grab a table before the rush and eat our fried goods. There were sauces at each table that I can only assume are traditional at British pubs. I heard someone specifically ask for brown sauce. So I tried the fish with the brown sauce. I don't know what I was expecting, so I thought it was fine. The staff was pretty friendly. They greeted us when we walked in. They were patient as we were trying to figure out what to order. They also provided us with a high chair for the little one who also seemed to enjoy the crispy fried fish. Every patron that came through were so friendly. I attribute it to the warm, friendly atmosphere provided by the hardworking staff. I do think the prices are a little high--but I would pay it again in a heartbeat. Can't wait to come back and try other items on the menu.

The restaurant was packed so we ate in the parking lot at Manor Plaza...who knew dining in a parking lot could be so satisfying?!

The words must be out after 57 years because it's standing room only on a busy Saturday, so we took our food and drinks to go. The server told us they had tables and chairs at the beach but there was none. Not a big deal since Manor Plaza is full of tables everywhere. The Icelandic Pollock fish was flaky and moist, with a firm texture that held up well to battering and frying. The batter was light but could use a bit more seasoning. The chips were thick so could be fried a little longer for a bit more doneness. The beer was cold. The sun was shining. All in all we enjoyed it.

Combo Fish & Chips with Fried Shrimp

Obviously, it's far from the healthiest thing you can eat, but ever since I was a kid, fish & chips has been one of my favorite dishes. Whenever my family would try a new restaurant, it would be one of the things I would look for. Sadly, my all-time favorite spot closed long ago and ever since, I've been on the lookout for something that was just as good. So, after the first time I ever discovered Camelot, I immediately bookmarked them. Mostly because of how good the photos of their signature specialty looked, but also because of how long they've been around! First opening more than 50 years ago, so much about this place reminded me of the old school vibes my old favorite used to have! As you can imagine, the menu here is pretty straight forward - as their name implies, fish & chips is the name of their game. However, they also have a variety of other offerings too, including shrimp, crabcakes, oysters, scallops, clams, and the option to get combinations of them. In the event you're looking for something non-seafood, they also have chicken as an option, as well as a variety of sides and fried sweet treats (twinkies and mars bars). Given so many enticing options to choose from, I opted to go with THE COMBINATION WITH SHRIMP - Fried Fish and Fried Shrimp with Chips ($22.40). When my order came out, I was super stoked. Not only was the piece of fish quite large, but all four pieces of shrimp were big, too. Sadly, this mixed basket tasted very mixed. On the plus side, the shrimp were terrific - crunchy on the outside, sweet and juicy on the inside. As for the fish, it was moist and piping hot, but the batter, while fried to a crispy, golden brown, was a little gummy. Sadly, though, the chips really held this back. Since they're steak fries, it's not at all surprising that they're more potato-y, but they were also inconsistent - some were dry and starchy while the thinner, small pieces were incredibly hard. Considering how excited I was to try Camelot, I'd be lying if I said I wasn't somewhat disappointed. However, there's no question you get a good amount of food. Between how beloved they are and all of the praise they've garnered over the years, I wouldn't be entirely surprised if we just came on a bad day, but either way, I wouldn't be opposed to coming back again to try their other seafood options! THREE AND A HALF STARS rounded down.

The greeters were pleasant, with seating also instant, with some view of the Pacific Ocean. We were a party of three (my wife, her cousin, and I). We all ordered the open-faced crab sandwich with clam chowder. All items were totally on point (well prepared, delicious, and on point). The oysters on the half shell were tasty too. No cocktails; we opted for soft drinks. The service was attentive, and we lacked for nothing. My only observation was the bill came to over $320 with tip for three sandwiches (I have eaten at higher-end places many times, but fine dining has gotten a bit pricey). With rights to stroll on the beach after the meal if you wish, part of what you get is the experience. Still, I recommend Nick's for a very special meal with folks you care about. We waked into a large dark wood ala refurbished 1970s interior restaurant with plenty of half circle booths, large tables for groups and bar and dace floor that seems to be available for live music. We came on what looked like and felt like a locals regular night full of families and well dressed seniors. I hate being seated by a busser station or kitchen listening to the noise or the staff thinking they can talk crap about customers because they are stacking dishes or running a credit card but that is exactly what happened. Being hangery (hungry-angry) makes us change our dining standards. This being said we had to listen to the young staff's complaining. My partner ordered and received a large seafood salad and I ordered fish and chips. My food tasted like a large refrigerator Orida fish patty that was fried and large slices of potatoes that came out of the same oil. Being from the San Francisco bay area I compare all my sea food to that and have to say that I was greatly disappointed with the lack of taste even though I see that it was "handmade beer batter" dish. Unfortunately, I dont have too many positive things to say about this place except it is a good place to cure hugry.

I found Barbara's on Yelp--solid 4-star rating, good reviews, so we decided to give it a try. We arrived and were told there was about a 20-minute wait, which felt reasonable for a weekend seafood spot. Once we were seated, things started off fine, but the experience quickly became a bit frustrating. There seemed to be a breakdown in communication with our server regarding our order. We placed everything clearly, but when the food came out, it wasn't what we had ordered. Instead of just clarifying or correcting it, we were told the order had been placed incorrectly on our side and were asked to reorder. Unfortunately, we were also still charged for the original order, which made the situation feel even more confusing. We also ordered the clam chowder, which was honestly disappointing. From the very first spoonful to the last, there was a consistent gritty, sandy texture that made it difficult to enjoy at all. It took away from what is usually a comfort dish, especially in a coastal town where you expect it to shine. On a positive note, our timing coincided with sunset, and the view from the window was absolutely stunning. Watching the sun dip over the water while dining added a really beautiful moment to the experience, and the scenery itself was honestly the highlight of the visit. The setting itself is nice and the location is convenient if you're exploring Half Moon Bay, but based on our experience, the execution on both service and food quality didn't match the expectations set by the rating. Overall, it felt like a missed opportunity. With a bit more attention to order accuracy and consistency in the kitchen, this place could easily live up to its Yelp reputation--but unfortunately, that wasn't our experience that day.
