There are a few things I just have to get: some fresh made scones, sausage rolls, clotted cream, tea and maybe a candy bar or two, or three. They have the violet crumbles which one one of my favorites! However, their homemade items are where it is at! I love their scones. They are lovely. They usually have a few different kinds that have been baked but there are also mixes you can take home to make yourself. They have plenty of different tea mixes and it's nice to try a new one out each time. They also have plenty of imported candies, treacle, tea towels, fun gift ideas and many other things. The store also hosts English teas and I would love to do one at some point. There are many different ones and they make it in house. They also make sausage rolls, meat pies and many other savory items. Great to stop in and see what they have. The ladies who work inside have always been lovely, welcome a conversation or questions and although the store is small, it is packed with great merchandise! You will not be sorry you stopped in!

Located in a pleasant sidewalk-lined row of shops, Aubrey Rose is a hidden gem of a quaint, distinctively feminine and vintage-style tea parlour that offers a charming and cozy British afternoon tea experience. As guests enter the venue, they can feel like they are stepping back in time, being transported by elegant, traditional and vintage English charm. The ornate space is romantic floral themed and antiques-filled with tea-related gifts and Victorian décor that fill up the shelves which create intimate table spaces set with delicate fine bone china. At Aubrey Rose, the cherished ritual of afternoon tea is elevated to an upscale affair. I like to opt for the Queen Victoria Tea which includes a Seasonal Soup Course with Accompanying Savoury, a three-tiered tray, organized by savoury and sweet (Bottom Tier: Assorted Finger Sandwiches and Savouries, Middle Tier: fresh Seasonal Fruit, and Top Tier: an assortment of Petite Treats and Sweets), Dessert Scone and accompaniments served as the last course, and Unlimited Premium Loose Leaf Tea. I highly recommend the chilled cantaloupe soup which is beautifully presented and deliciously refreshing. The house made tidbits and sweets are also delightful. Service is welcomely warm, friendly and attentive. The Aubrey Rose Tea Room experience heightens a simple pause for a beverage, blending comfort with a touch of elegance, into a moment to slow down and appreciate the finer things in life...with your pinky up.

There were 5 kids total, the youngest being 5 and the oldest being 11. All 5 of the kids thoroughly enjoyed this experience! The pirate map activity and the introduction were both great. I loved the enthusiasm of the owner, and appreciated that she really leaned into the fact that there were so many kids (the other party had two kids as well) and made adjustments to the intro and quiz questions for them. I wasn't sure whether to expect a fancy teahouse to cringe at the sight of so many kids around China, glasses, and hot teapots- But they seemed totally unbothered, and were very welcoming! The staff at Britannia has always been top notch and this was no different! It really was a fun tea and a fun way to share my love for tea with my kiddos! Parents, you know your kids! Your kiddo may be a bit too young/rambunctious for a teahouse, and that's OKAY. But if you think they'll get along well, it's a wonderful time with amazing staff to make the experience lovely! The teahouse itself is lovely, the decor is beautiful. Don't forget to check out the giftshop, there are so many things to see! The coconut cacao is my favorite, do try it! The savories and sweets are always delicious and you leave here feeling satisfied and happy.

I recommend trying another Brit grocery/bakery store in San Diego County for authenticity and honesty. Update: the "owner" just posted a response, attacking my character (apparently I'm not allowed an opinion), in an attempt to defend her unethical business practices (recycling old food). I could just call the SD Health Board and report what they're doing. Hopefully my review will prompt the "owner" to stop cut-price shady practices especially regarding food! I've had first hand experience with what I've shared here. And as I've mentioned, I recommend trying other British grocery/cafes in San Diego that will provide quality and honesty.

Upon arrival we were challenged with the tight parking spots. Most of the area was metered or if you ventured to the residential area it was up or down a hill. Thankfully we found a car pulling out and took his spot. Hallelujah! We walked up a couple of stairs and entered the store on the second level. They had a dedicated area of loose leaf teas that they use at the Britannia Tearoom, which is owned by the same owner, as well as a fair assortment of other British items like tea strainers, Harry Potter themed candies, and more. I think if you're looking for authentic British goods this store will surely have what you're looking for. Cheerio!

I wanted something a little extra, and this spot delivered. I ordered a custom lavender iced matcha with honey cold foam and wow... it was such a good call. The lavender wasn't overpowering, just light and calming, and paired so well with the earthy matcha. That honey cold foam on top? Chef's kiss. It added the perfect touch of sweetness without making the drink feel heavy. Every sip was smooth, balanced, and honestly kind of addicting. What really stood out though was the service. It was my first time and I had zero clue what to get, but the girl at the register was so sweet and patient. She took her time helping me figure out a combo I'd love and made the whole experience feel really welcoming instead of rushed. You can also customize your milk (coconut, etc.), which I always appreciate. The shop itself is adorable. Think soft pink, super cute, aesthetic vibes all around. There's even an upstairs area that's set up for tea parties, which is such a fun touch and makes it feel a little more special than your average coffee spot. They also have pastries and small bites, so it's not just drinks if you're feeling snacky. Overall, this place is such a vibe. Great drinks, genuinely kind service, and a space that makes you want to hang out a little longer. Definitely coming back to try more of their menu.
