This job included changing out our electrical panel, and we were fine with the quote and started the process. We reached out every week or 10 days to find out what was going on with the process, as he stated they needed to pull permits and work with PG&E. Nearly 6 weeks later we were trying to get clarity on where we were in the process, and the electrician suddenly became irate and confrontive: "Was I not clear?" I stated I didn't understand where we were in the process and what was next, and he then said, "I'm canceling this job." We lost six weeks due to waiting for this guy and now have to start over looking for another electrician. I really don't understand why he felt the need to treat us that way. I'm not willing to beg someone and put up with this kind of behavior to get someone to do work for me. However, I'm super glad to find out that he was this confrontational and unstable before he actually started working on my house. After all, you really need to be able to trust your electrician.

I asked Town & Country Fencing Inc. to build a new wood fence. The owner Adam Rust came by and…read morequoted me for a 6 foot high cedar fence with 8 inch planks. On April 9, I gave him a down payment of $1000 to begin the work. By the beginning of May Adam had not begun work and had not contacted me. My neighbor, who had agreed to share cost on the fence, finally got fed up with waiting for Adam and brought in his own contractor to do the work. On May 3, I informed Adam what had happened and cancelled the fence. On May 4, Adam claimed that he had just ordered the wood to be delivered to his own property and that it was too late to cancel the order. Adam said he had planned to start work on my fence on May 11. Adam only returned $500 of my deposit, claiming that he had ordered redwood and would have to return it since he didn't normally stock redwood and it might warp if he kept in his yard. He claimed the $500 he kept was for restocking and shipping of the redwood. I pointed out to Adam that he had quoted me for a cedar fence and if they had mistakenly delivered redwood, or he had mistakenly ordered it, that would not be my error. I also politely asked Adam for receipts to show that he had in fact ordered and returned the redwood. Adam then stopped responding to my emails and refused to provide any receipts. This is bad customer service and possibly dishonest behavior from a licensed contractor (California License #1004631). This in contrast to their website which states "Our team takes pride in delivering the best service". They also advertise "Free Estimates" and "Free Consultations". Nonetheless, I told Adam that I would be fine reimbursing him for his time assembling the quote, however I believe that $500 is excessive. Also his slowness and poor communication in starting the job contributed directly to cancelling the job. Therefor I do not recommend Town & Country Fencing Inc. or Adam Rust.

We asked MACE to wire up additional contact sensors to an existing DSC alarm system during a major…read moreremodel to our house. During the remodel, we did not live in our house. Shortly after they did the work, we visited the site, and discovered that they had completely ripped out the existing alarm panel (which was not necessary at all for the scope of work we requested). They asked for additional money to put the system they destroyed back together. Once I did, I discovered that they had not correctly installed ANY of the sensors I paid them to install -- not a single sensor had the magnet needed for the reed switch to function correctly. When I asked them to fix their mistake, they informed me the magnets would have been part of a later step, and they'd be happy to do the work if I paid them more money. Now I'm out thousands of dollars and don't have a working system. Extremely shady and unethical business, I refuse to ever do business with them again.

So, if you are an electrician for this company make sure you invoice for about $500/hr! And their HVAC guys, I think its awesome your boss pays you $500/hr. But clients beware, there is a lot of gouging going on. Usually its $150/hr for the technical. And call the suppliers, you'll see the cost of the HVAC equipment is much less than you are being quoted! And other than duct work, its an easy day or two for an install. So do the math, and don't let our community be the place where we pay $ 500/hr for electricians.

I met with the owner and received a fair and competitive estimate compared to some other companies that clearly wanted to overcharge me. The installation crew did an excellent job and were personable to deal with. The new outside AC condenser initially had a glitch to workout as it seemed loud at shut off. They sent a technician out to help resolve it promptly. It has been working flawlessly ever since. I came away with a very positive experience and wouldn't hesitate to use them again. Highly recommend these folks.
