They installed a level 2 charger at my home for my BMW iX, and completely reworked my existing panel to make it work with the new charger (not to mention creating a new panel slot and correcting all of the panel labeling!). Today was the 2nd time I've used 5 Star Electrical and I am over the moon that I did. The first time a few months ago they responded super quickly about a GFI issue that was potentially hazardous. Hunter spent time troubleshooting the issue and fixed it in the same day. While fixing it, he noticed that my panel was one that was recalled as a hazard years ago and I had no idea. Fast forward to this week they worked with PG&E and coordinated a time to come out to get the work done. Everything was well scheduled and communicated to me. Bruce and Hunter replaced the panel and then proceeded to fix several other existing issues that could've caused me some grief down the line and pointed out some things to take care of that were safety issues (including some rodents in the attic I didn't know lived here). I have had Bruce work on two projects of mine that were a little out of the ordinary due to our line of business and the special equipment we use, but they have always made it work. 5 Star Electric has been extremely busy with projects and I thought I would never be able to get them to do work, instead they worked on the weekend for me. Perhaps I just had a bad experience, but they charged me $300+ to move a light a few feet, and left two huge drywall holes behind, stating that they didn't repair the drywall damage, and that I needed to pay a drywall person to come and fix it. If that is your policy, then give your customers a heads up. I am also pretty sure the electrician charged us for time he spent driving to home depot for a part (not sure what he could even have needed that wasn't in his truck for this type of job). I found 5-star electrical on Yelp about a month ago to get help with an electrical emergency in my home and they responded very quickly and were at our house the same day! I've called Bruce twice and have had great service both times. Heston is prompt, professional, knowledgeable and will answer any questions thoroughly you might have about your particular job. He also provided great advice about my existing electrical system from 1963. The first call was more of an emergency: The situation was that one of our electrical outlets in our hallway is used for a tall floor fan and our kids our constantly knocking the cord out of the old socket. On this particular day the socket completely fried when the plug was knocked loose and knocked out power in 1/2 of our house! Heston came out and tracked down the root of the issue quickly, replaced the faulty outlet as well as installed a new light socket in our closet and tested everything fully and safely all while answering 100 questions our 4 year old had for him about all his tools and what he was working on. And all of this was done within an hour! The second call was to get some electrical modification work done to install some new string lights on my newly remodeled patio. I called on a Tuesday to request some help with a low priority task and we agreed on Thursday morning being a good day. Bruce let me know they'll be at my house between 8-9 AM to start work, Heston gave me a quick call about 10 minutes before 8 AM to let me know he would be there in about 5 minutes to start the job. He showed up and I explained what I wanted and we spent about 10 minutes evaluating the situation and came to the perfect solution and was exactly what i had wanted. We ended up taking out an old patio light that was pretty worthless and replacing it with a two gang GFI setup attached to a light switch just inside my living room area .One outlet is switched one is constantly on. Now I can flip on my beautiful patio string lights and have a spare outlet for other fun things. The workmanship is solid and safe out of reach of our children which is exactly what we wanted. Couldn't have asked for better service and the price is as expected for high quality customer service and workmanship. I try and take care of most common repairs around the house but when it comes to electrical I would prefer to leave it to the pros.
