I didn't have a very big project (sub-panel replacement), but he was still the only electrician from Yelp who paid me the courtesy of visiting my house in person before bidding. As we talked about many things while he was working on the project, I felt like we became good friends. It quickly became apparent to me that I was talking to a real professional, with tons of experience handling projects of scale incomparable to mine. I learned that over his 45 years in the industry, he was involved in very large projects in key roles, managed rewiring of hospitals, stadiums, thousands of amperes of power, he knows it all. That he simply got tired of the intensity of big business and decided to work for himself and for the regular folk like you and me. And his pricing is very reasonable, too. This job included changing out our electrical panel, and we were fine with the quote and started the process. We reached out every week or 10 days to find out what was going on with the process, as he stated they needed to pull permits and work with PG&E. Nearly 6 weeks later we were trying to get clarity on where we were in the process, and the electrician suddenly became irate and confrontive: "Was I not clear?" I stated I didn't understand where we were in the process and what was next, and he then said, "I'm canceling this job." We lost six weeks due to waiting for this guy and now have to start over looking for another electrician. I really don't understand why he felt the need to treat us that way. I'm not willing to beg someone and put up with this kind of behavior to get someone to do work for me. However, I'm super glad to find out that he was this confrontational and unstable before he actually started working on my house. After all, you really need to be able to trust your electrician.
