Another excellent experience with Modern Electric. We had them come out and do a bunch of small projects: adding lights, a fan, rerouting light switches, etc. All the work was performed quickly, neatly, and professionally. Modern Electric remains our first call for electrical work. read more

Dear Modern Electronics, After calling several places and receiving multiple quotes, long timelines, and very little help, I finally spoke with Jimmy at Modern Electronics, who was incredibly helpful and very impressive. As it turned out, he even knew someone from my past, which made the experience feel even more personal. The very next day, he showed up with four trucks and completed the work perfectly. Everything was done efficiently, quickly, and with real professionalism. I truly couldn't be more grateful for how smoothly everything was handled. Jimmy went above and beyond, and I'm extremely thankful for his help and the outstanding service. Thank you.- Ron Leibowitz read more

Unfortunately, we did not have a good experience with this electrician. We called and they sent someone out right away to take a look at the job and give us a quote. This job included changing out our electrical panel, and we were fine with the quote and started the process. We reached out every week or 10 days to find out what was going on with the process, as he stated they needed to pull permits and work with PG&E. Nearly 6 weeks later we were trying to get clarity on where we were in the process, and the electrician suddenly became irate and confrontive: "Was I not clear?" I stated I didn't understand where we were in the process and what was next, and he then said, "I'm canceling this job." We lost six weeks due to waiting for this guy and now have to start over looking for another electrician. I really don't understand why he felt the need to treat us that way. I'm not willing to beg someone and put up with this kind of behavior to get someone to do work for me. However, I'm super glad to find out that he was this confrontational and unstable before he actually started working on my house. After all, you really need to be able to trust your electrician. read more

I called for service regarding my dishwasher....I needed a wall socket for it and rewiring of the appliance itself. Someone actually answered the phone (not a machine as I got from 4 other places where I left messages and received no call back!) and sent an electrician out the very next day. Hayden was very nice, was able to complete both jobs efficiently and the fee was very reasonable. He even patiently answered my multiple questions! Thank you, Modern Electric.......I will call on you again when needed and recommend you too! read more

Fast, efficient, professional, respectful-so many positive things to say about Modern Electric! They were able to squeeze me in last minute to install a fan in my bedroom. They showed up right on time, got it done in less than a hour and left no trace. I will definitely be using them for bigger jobs in the future! read more

I've had jimmy and his guys do several jobs at my house. They are great! Even helped me when it was actually a PG&E issue. I've needed new outlets, lights and fans, an upgraded panel, etc. Latest was an EV charger. Timely, professional, cost-effective...always! read more

Very impressed with their service. Had them install an EV charging station. They came out the same day that I called and made a high quality install at a price below what was quoted. Definitely plan to recommend them to others. read more

After reading a recommendation for Modern Electric on Nextdoor, i contacted Jimmy by email and heard back from him within one business day. He was able to schedule me the next day, which was a pleasant surprise. Nacho arrived a little ahead of the scheduled time. He was friendly, professional, and efficient while replacing an old dimmer switch that had caused my track lighting to be inoperative. He also checked another dimmer to make sure it was functioning properly. As a non-DIYer, I appreciate having access to a local electrician who will do small jobs. I highly recommend Modern Electric! read more

Jimmy and his whole Team are Honest and they treat you right .... Light go out who do you call ? ? ? Modern Electric ! ! !

Had my TV installed and wired above my fireplace today. Work was done perfectly! They were on time, quick, and super nice and professional! I couldnt have asked for a better job! I would definitely recommend and will use again for any other electrical work in my new home! read more

Quoted us $200 to install two fans, when the work was done they said it took much longer than expected (though I don't know why, since they were remote controlled and didn't need extra wiring run) and said the price had increased to $350. So they either intentionally underquoted or just ripped us off. read more

This company is the BEST!! The crew arrives on time, if not early, is professional and gets the job done so efficiently. I'm amazed at the work they do. I just had 2 can lights and a ceiling fan put in today and am so pleased with their work. DEFINITELY HIRE THEM! You won't be disappointed. Kathy Morro Bay read more

Modern Electric did an amazing job installing recessed lighting in our family room. The crew was knowledgeable, friendly and quick! They were careful about not making a mess and made sure I was happy with the job before they left. The lights look great and make a huge difference. I've also used Modern Electric at my business. There were issues with our panel and our tech company suddenly lost power. Time was of the essence, but Jimmy sent someone out within an hour and fixed the problem. We were able to keep productivity going. Highly recommend. read more

Just had Modern electric do some work on our house including installing 3 new light fixtures. When the old ones were removed, they realized they were installed incorrectly. They immediately recognized the issue, solved the problem, and were able to successfully install the new light fixtures in a timely manner. Courteous and professional, safety was also a priority since they wore masks the entire time. Thank you Modern Electric for the excellent work! Highly recommend. read more

Had an emergency at my second barber shop with lighting on a Friday at 5pm. I called and left a message, two minutes later Jimmy and his crew called and 20 minutes later they were there to suggest and help! They found the short and rewired extra lighting at the same time to help me with my haircuts! I had been wanting to install them for a while and guess this was meant to be! I would recommend this place without hesitation as they are honest and will treat you with respect! The technicians were also friendly and keep in mind it was the end of the day Friday!!! I wish all places were like this place! They are really great with customer! They are a local family owned business! John and Baroo were friendly and efficient fixing some electrical issues in our house today. Excellent workmanship!! Jimmy and his team did an amazing job on installing my home battery backup electrical system. As an engineer I'm very picky on quality and workmanship and Jimmy set my new standard! He called on the weekend to set up for the Monday install.. his team showed up on time 7am and worked diligently to get the job done. All the conduit runs were plumb and secure.. The guys were even able to get the runs through the house framing so we didn't need to penetrate outside walls!! That was amazing.. excellent conduit and breaker quality- no short cuts!!! Really nice job Jimmy and your lead guy John knows his stuff!! My wife already has more work lined up for you :) thanks read more

If you need an electrician, look no further and hire Modern Electric for your job. They listened to my explanation of the problem, asked me questions along the way, took care of the problem, and even put a plug for a new microwave, which I didn't know I'd need. When I called them with my issue, I left a message, and they got back to me in a timely manner, and showed up when they said they would. The two-man crew who came were fast, cleaned up after themselves, and were pleasant and professional. Modern Electric is our company for any future electrical needs. With Modern Electric, you get the best of everything. They are highly competent, honest, professional, punctual, friendly, funny, and, here is the biggie, affordable. I had talked to three different electricians before Modern Electric , and Jimmy's quote was most reasonable . Not only he replaced my outdated electrical panel with a new panel, he upgraded it to 200 Amp. He also fixed the 3-way switch that the remodeling contractor had messed up. All that for less than any of the quotes that I got from other electricians (and the others did not even offer to double the power of the panel). He and his crew are very professional. They give you details on what will be done, show up on time, and clean up everything when they are done. They really are the best. read more

By far one the best most professional companies out there, i was staying at a motel in Morro Bay, and their sign went out, they called the sign company and they couldn't figure out the problem, they called modern electric and in 5 minutes he had the sign working. The motel owner was so happy and thankful, and the electrician charged him a very fair price, wish we had an honest electrician like that in Ridgecrest read more

I had a problem that necessitated replacing my panel. Based on the yelp reviews I called Modern Electric, and I'm glad I did. The responsiveness, communication and professionalism was all you could ask for in an electrician. The job was handled quickly and he took care of all the permits and coordinated the job with PG&E. He also worked around my schedule to minimize the impact on my family. Modern Electric's work was very high quality and the finished product looks great. Unfortunately, I needed to deal with my insurance company on this project and Jimmy went well above and beyond to accommodate the various roadblocks and reporting hurdles they put in our way. I know this was a pain in the ass for him, but he did everything that was requested in a timely manner with no complaints, and to top it all off, he then reached out to me after the job was completed to see if the insurer paid the claim. A great guy who does great work. read more

The ceiling lights in our house went out in 3 rooms. Reading the reviews on Yelp led me to Modern Electric and Jimmy. He was booked solid for a few days, and suggested I call So. Cal. Edison to have them check out the panel, that the problem may lie there. It wasn't. Jimmy and Modern Electric to the rescue. A very positive experience with this extremely knowledgeable, professional and customer-oriented individual. His assistant, Derek was also efficient and friendly. I would not hesitate to recommend and call them again. In fact, we are making a list of everything we'd like to have done in the future! read more

Me and my wife wanted to change the lighting in our kitchen, replace and install 2 ceiling fans, and replace our old thermostat with the nest. We had multiple quotes and Modern Electric was the most reasonable. Jimmy showed up on the day and time they scheduled. They started and finished the work in one afternoon. He initially told me they would have 2 guys working but after 90 min. 2 more workers showed up to finish and clean up the job. We have wood floors and dust was everywhere, they vacuumed, dusted, and mopped the floors. Everything works as planned and the owner came by to look at the finished work. We didn't like one of the light switches they installed and he changed it at no extra charge. Also Jimmy noticed we had a bunch of our kids usb chargers in our living room outlets. He changed out 2 of our outlets to include 2 USB ports each at no extra cost. We would definitely recommend/use Modern Electric again. read more

After having some bad past experiences with electricians in the county I used to live in, I was very skeptical of all electricians. After reading the Yelp reviews on this page, I called Modern Electric to have my panel upgraded on the house I just bought. I spoke with the owner, Jimmy. He was very professional, answered all my questions, and his quote was better than other companies. When the job was completed, everything went exactly how he explained it would from our first phone call/ quote. Over all my experience was definitely worth a 5 star yelp review and if it was possible to give more stars, I would. Don't even waste time calling other companies trying to squeeze every nickle they can out of you. Go for these guys. Good price, great service, and as knowledgeable as they come! read more

Jimmy was great from Modern Electric. We needed a circuit breaker put in for our spa. Another electrician hemmed and hawed and said it could be done but would be expensive. Having used three of the top electrical contractors on three different projects in our house we found Modern Electric to be the most reasonably priced and cooperative . They rewired a conversion of a one bedroom apartment in our house installing a sub panel, all new wiring throughout the unit and seperating it from our main house. They were very responsive to several problems that needed to be fixed, not of their making and fulfilled all of the contracted items in a timely manner. MODERN ELECTRIC is AWESOME!!!!! What a treasure. They first did work on my house in Morro Bay. They made the whole process SO easy. Easy to schedule, showed up on time. Sweet & professional guys. I had two light fixtures that needed to be connected to the same switch. The electrician showed up and went straight to work, and completed the job in less than an hour. I was so very happy with his work and work ethic, that I got on their schedule for more small projects that I'd wanted done for a long time.
