This room accesses to a large grassy area with patio furniture for several patio rooms. Very nice after spending a long day traveling. Small family owned just on the edge of downtown (Eastside). Five minute walk into town. I had no issues with checkin, the room, or checkout. This place is horrible and will buckle and dime you for all they can. We booked the reservations and put the correct number of people on the reservation and he asked why we needed a king bed and when she responded her husband was staying also he said there was an extra fee for that even though we booked it with everyone included. We also had a pet and the hotel was "pet friendly" and charged another fee for a small dog staying in a cage and said if the dog barks there will be additional fees so made us book a suite away from people. All in all, all his "fees" doubled the amount that we initially paid. I would stay far away from this motel and the inside was disgusting. I really enjoyed my stay here! A quick night in Cambria on a trip down to LA meant I didn't want to go bananas paying for an ocean view room, I just needed a bed and a roof. In a very touristy town, I was grateful to find such a cool and affordable little spot. A wonderful location close enough to downtown to walk, but also removed enough to feel quiet and private. I was there on a Sunday night so it may have been more quiet than usual. I made one little request to be in a room that didn't share walls with anyone since attendance was low and I was accommodated no problem, I slept like a baby. Understand that for such an affordable room in a spendy town, you're getting the basics, but I loved the sort of road trip chic of the hotel's simplicity. A bed? Yep! Not the coziest but at the end of a long driving day it was just fine. No central air but on a September night the ceiling fan took the edge off the slight evening warmth. A comically cozy bathroom (the door to the bathroom kept smacking me on the knees or on the back depending on my activity), and finding wall plugs for my hair tools got me into some silly poses trying to utilize light and mirrors. But if you want to save money, you go with the flow. And that I did, all around! If you're just passing through town, this is a great option. A short walk to the best restaurant in town (if you skip Robin's, you're only cheating yourself), and a simple cozy place to call home for the night. I for one loved my stay! read more

We stayed here a little while back for a few days. It's pretty nice for the price you pay. I would say the best deal in Cambria as far as lodging goes. It's pretty basic, has a TV, mini fridge, bathroom with a shower, bed and a few other pieces of furniture. We were in one of the rooms closest to the fire pit area. Pros: -Beautiful outdoor area with fire pit. We spent some time out here and it was lovely. -Very clean -Has a heater and a ceiling fan! Cons: -Mini fridge didn't get very cold-may need to be checked. -Not much counter space in the bathroom. Check in was easy and you save $ if you call in and reserve that way! We needed a last minute reservation to come up to the Cambria area to check out some investment property. This was one of the only reasonably priced places left with availability and whilst we aren't usually "motel" stayers we decided to roll the dice as it was only for one night. We were pleasantly surprised at how clean the room was and comfortable the beds were. It's also just a 3 minute walk to the beginning of the downtown area of Cambria where all the restaurants and shops are. We were able to walk to dinner and morning coffee. We had our Boxer staying with us as well as this place is pet friendly ( they charge $15 per night for 1 dog $20 for 2) there is a little sitting garden across from the rooms to have a glass of wine and walk your dog too. Overall this place is really good value for a no-frills but comfortable and safe place. read more

Very, very close to a 4-star review, if only for one slip-up, and it's mostly on the housekeeping folks. They forgot to put towels in our room! But we were running late, and didn't have time to swing by the front desk to mention it, and because it's a small, sleepy little town, the front desk is only open from 8-noon and 3-9pm. Besides that, though, this is a great alternative to the more expensive hotels elsewhere in town or a bed-and-breakfast. This is a standard motel in that the doors do face the parking lot, but security isn't really a big deal in Cambria. I mean, really, what sort of crime might go on in this town? Hey, you! Give me back my antique plaque of a berry! The rooms were remodeled, seemingly recently. The floor was a fake wood that didn't hold the cold outdoor temperature, which was nice. The wall heater was an old model, but it did the trick, just took a tiny bit longer to warm up the room. The TV was a flatscreen - not huge, but big enough to see from the bed, which was large and surprisingly comfortable. The bathroom was clean, though there was minimal counter space for toiletries, but the water heater worked great. There's a fire pit out back, but we had an engagement to be at and didn't get a chance to check it out. Really, a solid little motel. Other reviewers noted that the price was somewhat high, but we got out room for about $105 on New Years Eve, and compared to the $250-350 of most places in town that night, that's not bad at all. Lets be real here. This is what to expect: Early 1970s SF State dorm room with a little IKEA thrown in. Desk and chair and lamp table from thrift store, and not particularly attractive. Stark room with faux wooden floors. 3 electrical outlets total, with one multi outlet extention cord. That includes the electrical outlet coming from the bathroom light (with pull chord). Yes more than a bit retro, a little too authentic, but this is more like what the 40s and 50's offered. No refrigerator, no microwave. No breakfast. No chairs other than the desk chair. Ouch. The kitchenette shown in one of the pictures is not the norm. That is a special unit in the back. Good: Some patio chairs outside each room. nice new paint and refinished interior walls. Exterior is updated but not particularly attractive. The landscaping is a valiant attempt to offer some consolation. Like the firepit area, lit every night for several hours, the grassy back yard, the festively lit BBQ area. The fruit bowl in the office. A small coffee maker in each room. Bed made and towels replenished daily. Nice shower. Boutique soaps. Flat screen TV. Very nice hostess, Jill. Doggie friendly. Free bikes. If you are on a budget, then this place is for you! We stayed here for two nights before Thanksgiving to visit my father-in-law who was staying in Cambria with friends, and we only paid $160 something for our room. A bargain indeed, but you do have to not mind a few things. The chairs in the room have seen better days, there is no counter in the bathroom to put your toiletries (had to place them on the window sill), and the small wall heater next to the door turned on and then off after a few minutes. We were cold the second evening since the heater didn't really work. The room is clean enough and I do appreciate the wood floor instead of old, dingy carpet in the bedroom area. This place was recommended by my father-in-law's friend who lives in Cambria. She said it's the better of the two motels in the area. She must have thought we were on a tight budget to recommend this place. Had I known that this place was this basic, we would have stayed elsewhere. I liked its location despite the fact that it's next to an apartment complex. The walls are very thin, so you can pretty much hear the people in the next room and the people in the apartment complex next door. But, you can walk to cafes and restaurants in downtown Cambria from this motel. Food and shops are only a few minutes away on foot. No need to drive. The motel also had a gas fire pit and a small patio area. We didn't really hang out there, but I imagine it'd be a nice spot to hang out when the weather is warmer. The reception area is only open a few hours in the morning (around check out time) and a few hours in the afternoon/early evening (starting around check in time). We got to the Cambria area before check in time so we just stopped by a winery in Paso Robles to pass the time and taste some wine! Definitely a must do when you're in the area! Next time we're in Cambria, we'll stay in a more comfortable place. I don't mind paying a little bit more for nicer accommodations and more comfort. read more

Stayed here after purchasing a great Yelp! deal. I think it was like $99 for two nights. That price point is unheard of these days so we were perhaps more accepting of the place. The motel is uber basic, seriously, no extra frills. But I do give them props for the effort they have made. PROS: -- We loved that it was dog friendly (our dog got a goodie bag that included a biscuit and an extra poop bag). Dog park is really, really close. -- The upgraded landscaping is nice -- The free bicycle loan is pretty cool, even though we didn't partake. -- They updated their motel sign and web site since we purchased the deal, so they are really trying. -- Free WiFi -- The firepit out back is a really, really great touch. With a bottle of wine (or two) out back on a clear night, this place is OUTSTANDING!!! CONS: -- The water pressure in our shower was horrible. That was MAJOR for me. -- We had a mini fridge in our room that was on the noisy side, but at least we had a fridge? -- No hair dryer in the bathroom, and if you brought your own, part of the fun is looking for a place to plug it in. -- When you're hurting for coffee in the morning (after all the wine by the firepit from the night before), you can't possibly need it that bad to drink the coffee provided in the room (little electric coffee pot) . It is god awful. -- Wish they provided better glasses in the room for our wine. NO, we did not swig it out of the bottle! Bought a groupon deal - $99 for 2 weeknights stay which I think is completely reasonable for a touristy town like Cambria. The location is closer to the edge of town, but Cambria is so small so that means about 5 minutes walk to where all the shops/dining places are (and it is quite plentiful!). Reservations were easy (I called about 1.5 months in advance) and because we chose to stay on weeknights (Sun-Tues), our desired dates were granted - and I think it also helped with the surrounding noise issues since the place wasn't at full vacancy at that time. The room itself was bigger than I expected: hardwood floors, a very comfy queen sized bed (with 5 pillows!), 2 desks, 2 lounge chairs, 1 rocking chair, a coffee maker, flat screen tv (with cable! - which is very important because Cambria is such a sleepy town on weekdays, everything is closed by 8pm!), decent wifi, and enough outlets (but none near the bed). The bathroom is a little worn, but clean - which is the most important thing. I also like that the parking lot is right outside the room, meaning I don't have to lug all my stuff from a far distance into my room..but... The ultra ultra thin walls. You can hear the neighbor's tvs, open/closing of the door, when they talk, the cars outside, when someone walks by your door, etc...We also tried out the heater and see how that can get annoying (it turns on & off on its own during random times pretty loudly) so I suggest leaving it on before you leave your room at night, and then turn it off before you go to sleep. They also give you an extra blanket too, so I don't think the heater is necessary. Overall: Pretty good place to stay for the price. Friendly staff & they kept offering us free fruit! We just got home yesterday after staying at Cambria palms motel. We were there for 3 nights. If you are looking for a very affordable super clean motel right in the heart of Cambria shops, restaurants, wineries. This is your place. We stayed in room 18 it is a large room with a king size ( very comfortable bed) a small living room with a chase lounge. You have a sliding door to the outside with your own patio to enjoy evenings and early mornings. We absolutely loved it there is also a fire pit in the back yard available for the larger rooms. The hotel was very clean and comfortable. WiFi wasn't great but we disconnect when we are in Cambria. A nice tv and new mini split for hvac. Very well lite with large windows. I would recommend this patio room every time. It also has a small apartment size fridge and freezer with microwave and coffee maker. We loved the fact we were a five minute walk from all the shops. But away from them as well. If you are looking for the most affordable and clean hotel in Cambria I highly recommend you checking this place out. This Was a WOW Motel From Hell ! 2 Stars ! We purchased on Hotel tonight , had no idea where we were going . The Motel was at the very end of MoonStone , the place was barren with one maid . We arrived at 2pm , to find a sign on the door "closed" ,we had been driving all night and was going to check the place out . We learned there was no security , and no attendant between 11-3pm or from 10pm to 8am . When I arrived I was given 2 keys . The rate was a discount on hotels.com $110.00 It was a 2 star hotel , rehabbed with paint , the beds were old , and furniture looked like pieces purchased at goodwill , Not worth 50 dollars ! I was super disappointed at the amenities . The woman at the desk was not very friendly , but was kind enough to let me look at room . The first room #11 was far from what I consider cozy , clean or nice . Small bath , tiny shower , the bed squeaked like it was 25 years old , it was literally lumpy , the walls were plaster that had 25 coats of paint, the walls had marks and scuffs all over . No privacy , the window was on the parking lot , the front door opened to the bed. The motel is old , rehabbed with paint . I choose room 15 the Only room that was decent yet marginal . The lock on the door was broke , their was dried jelly spilled inside the refrigerator , the walls were scuffed up as if we just Checked in , after a party was going on in the room . The doors and walls hand dirty with finger prints . The Only person on the premises was the maid , I showed her the mess , she promptly cleaned and told me in broken language to tell the attendant. Later that day I took my shoes off and felt dirt , I used a white washcloth to rinse it twice the floors were FILTHY !!!! We were told we could keep the room , The next morning I was awakened by a startling banging on the door , "a burley sounding attendant was yelling in front of my door , in the parking lot , as if were a drill Sargent , "You gotta get out by 11 we have this room booked " . Make sure you bring ear plugs as I was kept up until 3am both nights by the man in room next to us . I could hear every word he spoke as well as hearing his tv . At 8 am the maids cleaning , the banging noise on both sides, left me frazzled . At 10 am after trying to sleep a little longer I hear a loud banging on the door once again . Startled I opened it to see a maid with a canister vacume banging the vacume against at the door ! I asked her to stop , 5 minutes later the Attendant literally returned banging so hard the windows shook .She stood at the door Yelling for us to get out , that it was 10 am and we should be ready to leave . Beyond anything I have ever experienced in my life . The noise level was horrid , but what was more unforgettable was the Attendant in the morning. She was RUDE , Boisterous , and Militant. As we were leaving for our meeting the next morning , a strange fella appeared from out of no where . He walked off the street from our of nowhere . Unshaven , his pupils were as big a moons , very Sketching looking . It was was scary as hell , he asked if he could hang out with us , he said he was kicked out of his sisters , he asked who we were with , he looked like he was on drugs , and was scouting out the place. There was not a soul around , I told him we called police that he was on private property , he started walking in circles , We are standing in this barren parking lot not a soul around , frightened . Than , I spotted the evening attendant in the office . I stood there banging on the office door , panicking about this strange guy , who just asked is for 10 dollars than began lingering around . I ran to office knocked on door , than had to bang as the attendant literally looked at me , than turned her back , and returned to what she was doing , ignoring me ,as if because it was not time for her shift . Finally I raised my voice while banging and said , "open the door" . I told her what was going on , largely concerned for her being there alone and she did NOTHING ! She did not make a report , for our safety and the safety of future guests . She pretty much blew us off . The only pleasant part of my experience was room 15 had a nice patio overlooking a fire pit . The back yard was the best part of the stay . We booked 2 nights on hotels.com in advance , because we had meetings in the area and did not have time to look for better accommodations or know we would be the last hotel on the strip . If you desire any service , amenities or firm and new beds , security , or cleanliness do not stay there . So many better choices . I came to this place because I had seen it on my way to the hotel I was supposed to stay at. That hotel (which I'll leave unnamed because the man that helped me was sweet as could be) was just too worn down and uncomfortable for me to stay at. So I decided to book last minute at the Cambria Palms Motel with Expedia. It doesn't look like much from the outside so I was a little worried I would be walking into the same problem I had before. But I was totally wrong. Yeah, it's an older building so it isn't perfect, but for me and my dog on our mini staycation it was exactly what we needed. Very comfortable. I think the big selling point for me is the service. I hate that I didn't get the name of the woman that helped me when I checked in. Expedia was really weird and made things extra complicated, but the woman at the front desk went above and beyond to get things figured out for me. She didn't make me wait for the room. She let me settle in while she handled whatever complication was happening. It took a while, but she got things figured out for me and I could appreciate her more for taking time out of her busy schedule. If you're looking for a glamorous 5 star resort then maybe this isn't your place. But if you like a cozy environment with excellent customer service that's close to town AND pet friendly then look no further than the Cambria Palms Motel. read more

I concur with most. This is obviously an older, "less expensive" hotel, but it's be redone wonderfully. If you want all the bells and whistles, look elsewhere. But if you want just a nice place to stay at a reasonable (read one of the cheapest in Cambria) this is a great option. Clearly they've made an effort to make it pleasant and attractive. Completely repainted inside and out and refinished - including floors and tile. Updated fixtures and decorations. Everything works (including the ice machine...:-) The rooms have limited electrical outlets due to the original construction - but they added extension cords, power ports on the beside lamps and even a nice digital clock with 2 USB ports that can be shared by both beds. (Twin Double bed room). TV includes DirecTV and all its channels (and posted a printout of the channels.) They even added a 2nd Wifi Access Point because of comments about poor reception at one end of the hotel. (Where have you ever heard of that). Beds were very comfortable with 3 very nice pillows on each bed (remember, Double Beds). Nice walk-in shower, with a good (i.e. not "cheap" shower head). Even wall mounted Shower Gel and Shampoo dispensers. Plenty of accessories (soap, lotion etc.) and both regular and Decaf coffee for the coffee maker). They also added a wall mounted Mini Split air conditioner and heating unit. So silent and efficient - I couldn't tell it was on - but worked great. So, many good points - probably forgot some. I did not like the idea that there was no front desk support from 10pm to 8am though. We literally only needed a place to sleep so it worked for us. Checked in at 9pm, left at 9am. For that, it was worth the price and their claim "best deal in town" is accurate. If you need more space and a fancy set up, this is not the place for you. No air! No security! No privacy! No peace! No wine, wine glasses, or firepit! Upon first glance it was a cute, clean room. Then reality sets in. The fancy clock on the bedside said the room temperature was 86°. We quickly realized there wasn't an A/C unit and to cool the room you had to open the sliding picture window in front and the bathroom slider. Which meant leaving the bathroom door open. When open it bumped up against the bed. The bathroom had a beautiful view of the apartment building next door which looked directly into the window. This meant either coming back from town to a hot room or leave our items unsecured. We opted to secure. Upon returning from town we opened the windows and door and went to sit outside with our dog. The lady cleaning the room next door kept giving me the stink eye and went to get the manager. I guess she wanted to be sure we had paid extra to have the dog there. Don't worry, we did! Trying to settle in for the night was a joke. You had to leave the heavy hotel curtain open to catch the breeze, which meant everyone walking by or using the parking lot as a u-turn (seemed to be a favorite of motorcycles) could see into your room. The apartment outside the bathroom window had a crying baby and an arguing couple. The walls were so thin you could hear the microwave being set in the next room. And the next property was having a party. When we took our shoes off, the floor was so dirty you had to brush off the bottom of your feet. The manager said he'd never heard our kind of complaints before and reminded us there are no refunds .
