It's 2024 and the worker behind the counter in this establishment blatantly ignored me. I had to really try hard to get his attention (he was busy not doing anything else but ignoring the only patron in the store...me) to ask if they have lotto tickets. He annoyingly answered, "yes" barely acknowledging me. I wanted to get a ticket, but another person walked in who was on her phone and bought something, and he eagerly and politely rang her up. I'm trying not to make it a racial issue, but why do I have to try so hard to excuse his meanness and unfair behavior? I will not be supporting such a business that inflicts injustice, intentionally or not. read more

I get you are in a tourist area that's a bit remote so prices are going to be a bit higher, but $22 for a 12 pack of Pacifico? That's not ethical pricing it's gouging. I paid $18 in Hawaii and that's an island, Vegas it's never more than $17. Most places it's $14.99 including the market up the street come on boys do better. read more

Great customer service, great spot to buy gifts or souvenirs! We ran across this place during our trip down PCH and wish I could've bought more souvenirs to bring back home ! Not a big wine selection if you are looking for wine but there are plenty of other spots around that little strip where you can find more options. read more

A couple wks ago I was visiting and picking out a couple bottles of local wine at this general store. I asked the female who was working if I could use the restroom and had to explain that I suffer from endometriosis. She responded to say that b/c I was menstruating that she wouldn't let me use the bathroom b/c she's had to clean up after others before. I was shocked and offended by her harsh response, put down the wine bottles and left. I returned about 10 mins later to take her foto and let her know that I would be writing this review due to discrimination. She screamed at me, threaten to call the police and physically pushed me out the door. Never again. read more

Travelers: Avoid at all costs Had the most unnerving experience at this place - we stopped to get some gas. I went inside to use the bathroom - they appeared to be public restrooms, with one labelled Men and one labelled Women. The bathroom was filthy, but who am I to complain about that, I always appreciate the use of restrooms at gas stations. However, when I walked out, the woman behind the counter began accosting me, asking me what I was "doing in the restroom" (not sure how much detail she wanted...?), and literally screaming - like, actual, full-throated, toddler-volume screaming at me at the top of her lungs for using the gas station restroom without "asking her first". This was one of the most bizarre and demented experiences I've ever had in any business, period. Whoever is letting this woman - who clearly has some deep and unchecked anger issues - interact with customers is a fool. Needless to say we opted to get gas at the nearby Shell. As a bonus, nobody appeared to be shrieking at any customers over there. Here's a tip to the store: maybe put up a sign saying you don't have public restrooms, or lock the doors on the restrooms, or take off the "Men" and "Women" signs on the doors. In the meantime, dear traveller: dear god, do not go here for any reason. read more

I hit a deer tonight. Apparently it happens all the time, but as a city boy I was pretty shaken. Loreen at the counter could see it in my face and immediately walked around to offer hug and comfort. After some deep breaths I felt much better. She knew the next steps, how to report it and all that. She's a gem of a human, who knew every single person who went in on a first name basis and welcomed everyone warmly. My experience there made me terribly envious of the obviously close-knit community they have. Will be shopping here for the rest of my stay. Went to Cambria in July of 2017 by accident (long story). We weren't prepared for the cool evening temps, so the wife and I wandered into the Cambria General Store looking for jacket or hoodie. Note: We didn't try to use the restroom like some of these poor souls review-bombing the place, so I can't speak to that experience. However, we did have the absolute pleasure of meeting Lorraine (Loreen). Not only did she come out from behind the counter to help me select an appropriate hoodie (they only had one style), but she asked us where we were from and how we wound up in Cambria. This woman is an absolute gem of a person and a national treasure. I still have the hoodie. My cat sleeps on it sometimes. Yoshi loves it. I hope to make it back to Cambria one day, and I hope I get to talk to Lorraine again. I'm down for trying some of their fried chicken, too. read more

I visited this store this past weekend. I did not feel welcomed or comfortable at all! First I felt this establishment was not clean at all! I understand understaffing at this time but there were no customers at all and the employee Lorene was just standing around looking bored to death. I asked one question about the wine selection and she had no clue at all. I asked to speak to a manager or owner maybe they would know the answer to my question and Lorene just looked at me and laughed. I will not be visiting this establishment again and I will definitely discourage others to do so as well. read more

Dont get close to running out of gas in this area. Once they realized that they had the market cornered on gas here, it seems it went off the roof. As I was paying I heard another gentleman trying to bargain for gas by selling his first born son, apparently the child was too skinny and they settled on an arm instead. There was one other gas station down the street with prices very similar. All in all, boo for high gas prices. read more

Just some really nice people who are a lot of fun probably have lived in the town a long time just enjoying life. They have lots of different things you might need from anything from beer wine snacks bottled water (Fiji and others) to Sundries. I bought duct tape (little roll) hairbrush, chips and a long BBQ Lighter. Plus they had a grill and Deli counter in the back but I didn't check it out. If I'm in town I just assumed give my money to somebody local including expensive gas if I needed it rather than one of the large oil companies. read more

Only place in town that stayed open to grab a few snacks and some beer & some boxed wine,i know,i am kidding,oh am i? Anyhow,this place was open when we headed into town for some drinks and snacks and i have to say the place is small,floor is about to give out any day now,if it has not happen since i visited,but it gives it a genuine feeling,it really does. And i have to say that asking the attendent (older fella) as to what time he/store closed and he said : at 11pm or unless i get a cardiac arrest....... Parum pum pum....he will be there all night people,how funny was that reply... Seriously,i thought that was entertainment... Beer & Comedy all in one shot... As I strolled down main street, I happened to pop in here for some water. I'm glad I did. It was all out nostalgia. They have all kinds of treats. I went for the spicy cracklings. When I got to the front counter, I noticed they let you rent dvd's. We had a device in our room so, I went for it. After I left the store, I could not find my cell phone, I backtracked to the store and yep, they had it. So nice they kept it for me. Sweet lady at the front desk too. The next day when we returned the video, I noticed they had fried chicken. I could not resist, it was delish! I bought a $10 jug of Estrella wine and I was set for the day! Great find. read more

What do people want from a gas station? This is a quirky little place with history and authentic small beach town laid back vibe. Only place in town to get a quick lunch of fresh Fried Chicken. (also in the hot deli corn dogs, chimichangas, big potato wedges, poppers, taquitos, you get the picture).....(Cambria is extremely high for gas prices, and this is the cheapest of the three stations in town) OH!!! And, the sandwich deli that is now there!!! You get this massive (seems to be a foot long if you get it on the white or wheat roll!!) Deli sandwich that could easily be an adequate lunch for two for only $6.99!!! They have a great selection of sandwich choices, (even a veggie sub) AND you can get them hot or cold!! Also they have a way better selection of ice cream bars than the Shell. Only place in town for bait and fishing stuff. They open at the crack of dawn.......and the help are definitely characters to be sure. This place is A-OK. It is what it is!!!! :) I really would get my gas here if you have to get it in town too!!! ;) AND I have found some of their grocery items were even cheaper than the local market!!! I used to go here for the hot food selection they had back when I was in high school. I went in here when I moved back to take a trip down memory lane and I was completely turned off by the person behind the counter (totally unfriendly) and the cramped aisles and the clutter everywhere. This is the best deal in town! My bride and I bought an INCREDIBLE sandwich here! SO GOOD! The lady behind the deli counter, is such a sweetie! $7.99 for a 12" turkey sandwich, which was plenty for both of us. Grab a sandwich here, go down to the shore where there are benches overlooking the most AMAZING views. Bingo! Best seat in the house, with some pretty amazing food. DO IT!!!! read more
