Ok so a guy is going to review soap so here goes. It works... I cannot name all the names or even the ingredients but its all natural soap and they do a great job. My hair and skin feels clean and not like it just had a layer stripped off. I recommend this place as a great idea for gifts and they also have a seconds bin at a cheaper price (for home). Talk to the lady there (really nice) and ask about the different products and she will hook you up. Seriously, I bought $50 bucks worth, not going back to store bought soap or hair shampoo products if I can help it anytime soon. read more

I Yelped soap shops in Portland and this place popped up on my radar. I'm glad that I stopped in. The ladies working were helpful and let me look on my own without hovering. I made sure to read the ingredients on the back of each soap/shampoo that I planned on buying (I like to be 100% sure that my body won't have a bad reaction). I was surprised at how each soap listed everything and was so natural. It's a big relief for me. I purchased a neem oil shampoo bar drawn in by the fact that it helps with dandruff and that it helps with keeping bugs away (I was exploring in forests). Being a dreadhead, I cannot express my happiness enough. There's a bunch of great oils in this specific shampoo bar that makes my dreads feel soft, cleans them, and protects them. I'm a BIG FAN. The fact that this shampoo bar does not smell solely like neem oil (it smells of tea tree and peppermint), I love it even more. I will highly consider finding ways to have this shampoo bar shipped to me. The See The Forest soap I bought to gently exfoliate my skin is also wonderful. I wish I lived closer to this shop. read more

I've never even been to the actual store before but I just had to post a review with how satisfied I am with my Happy Hair Shampoo Bar. I bought it at a health food store in Berkeley, Ca. It's amazing. The ingredients are super simple and all natural but WOW does it do a good job of making your hair and scalp feel squeaky clean. It doesn't even lather a lot like a regular soap so I'm not even sure how it cleans so well but it does. All while, not stripping your hair or leaving it super dry. It just leaves it feeling but also moisturized and very strong healthy. Sometimes I feel like shampoo is breaking down the dirt and oil but also breaking down the barriers between strands and my actual hair follicles. Lol! Not this one! It's just so rare to find a shampoo that is both gentle but effective so I'm really happy about it. My hair is not easy to please either. It's fine, and dry, with 3a curls and can get frizzy really easily. I usually avoid shampooing my hair because it will be extraordinarily dry after. And I use a lot of leave-in products so I actually would have a really itchy scalp after a few washes and not shampooing. Not anymore! I can shampoo every wash and it doesn't dry me out me at all. It actually is improving the health of my hair and my scalp every time. Thank you for making this! Great place. Worth stopping in just to sniff around. The regular soaps are priced a little lower here than in supermarkets. And you can get seconds at even lower prices. Only problem I've had is they are not always open all the way to 6 p.m., even though their hours say they are. So call first if you're trying to go in late afternoon. read more

i've never been there, but I'm a big fun of their shampoo bar. There are no chemicals, but it still bubbles well! My sculp starts feeling lighter and my hair gets smoother after keep using it few months. It's hard to find shampoo w/o chemical. I love one with lemon grass. read more

I'm 34 years old and have suffered from acne all my life, until I started using camamu's black beauty soap. This stuff is the real deal.

The shave soap smelled great but preformed very poorly. The lather was all suds and literally disappeared on my face. I wouldn't recommend this soap for anyone who enjoys a good rich lather. Really cool shop though. I'm sure their other soaps are great! read more

I used to buy the amazing soap from Camamu a few years back and then I started getting some other handmade vegan soaps. The others were far too "fragrancey" and left me feeling pretty uncomfortable. I'm so glad Camamu is still making soaps here in PDX. They have a Soft & Tender bar that has a light fragrance (it may not even have fragrance but it smells wonderful anyway). I won't try those other soaps anymore. read more

the soaps at camamu are wonderful! the texture is nice and they are very moisturizing. i like earthy scents so these are perfect for me. there is a nice variety and even a few that contain crystal essence. worth the 5-6 dollars a bar. the only thing that put me off was buyng from the shop (headquarters) on clinton. if you dont already know what you want, it will be next to impossible to smell the varieties there. the shop is overwhelmingly fragrant!! look online, read the descriptions, and have a few in mind before you go. OR buy from a retailer. i like "see the forest" and "queen bee" read more

What wonderful soaps ---I love to wash my hair with Argan Oil, Horsetail Shampoo & Happy Hair Burdock Shampoo Bar Soap. My hair is all natural grey and these products make it smell clean, fresh and keeps it shiny. I live in Florida and with all this heat and humidity, washing your hair often is necessary. I do recommend it to seniors both men and women who have stopped using bad chemicals on their bodies. Camamu soap also works wonderful on dogs whom have skin allergies. It leaves their fur free of residues and stops the excessive scratching, try it, you'll love it too and so will your pet !! read more
