A walk through this little gem makes me think this is what Warhol's Montauk looked like. Tanned, sun bleached surfers should be permanently lounging on this store's couches. Not a lot of choices here which makes it all the more enjoyable. My favorite picks are the St. James sailor shirts and Moscot sunglasses.

Not a shopping experience I was used to visiting here from San Francisco, CA. I've worked in customer service and the individuals who work a store are meant to reflect the store owners envisioned experience and overall customer service morals... if this is the case not worth supporting this vision with your dollars. There are many stores just like this on the street with a kinder warmer experience! No need to be walking on eggshells when you are in someone's store.

I hadn't planned on shopping while I was in Montauk, but I had to check out the store after seeing the cute dresses in their window displays. The owner of the store, who I found out is responsible for all the buying, has amazing taste and a great eye for patterns and prints. I'd describe Next Door's look and feel as an eclectic mix of elegant, chic and quirky vacation wear. Think Calypso St. Barth meets Free People. The staff was very intuitive and friendly, leaving me alone when I just wanted to browse and ready to help when I had questions. They even took a dress down from their display for me because it was the only one left in the size I wanted. They're also very knowledgeable about what they have in their shop. When I was paying for the dress I picked out, the manager mentioned that they also carry a dress from the same collection in a different color and cut, and asked if I wanted to see it. The next time I'm in Montauk, I'll definitely be stopping by their shop again.

I'm turned off when I go in there now because I barely get a greeting - even if I say hello first. I used to like the stuff more but I think it depends on your taste - it's probably a store more for middle aged/older women except younger women might enjoy some of the jewelry and fragrances. There is some stuff from Hawaii and some tropical themed accessories along with some summer basics like bandeau tops. In the back are some home items from Hawaii and some fragrance stuff like the Kai brand oils and sprays. It's a bit over priced but what isn't in MTK?

I can't really comment on the service as the person working did not seem to look up or notice that I was in the store but I didn't really mind. My husband and son were waiting outside for me and I was more trying to get an idea of the overall vibe and inventory to see if it was a must stop back before I left than looking to seriously shop. It's a pretty cool mix of items. I really liked the LV lighters and if I still smoked cigarettes I probably would have bought one for the fun novelty aspect. Also a huge fan of the designer dollhouse. I've never seen anything like it. There were some tiny plastic designer purses for sale as well which I considered getting but I have no clue what I would do with it but really enjoyed looking at it all. Not sure if I would say the vintage bags are the best value either but they are on trend and accessible in person as some people would probably prefer than take their chances on a second hand site even if they may pay less. Either way kudos to the owner on creating such a fun environment for customers!

By tax, I mean everything is definitely more expensive here than anywhere else. Help yourself, expect things to be expensive, then be surprised when they are almost normal. This particular trip to Whites, I came in for a few necessities: toothbrush ($2), toothpaste($3) and a BBQ lighter ($2.15). I was pleasantly surprised that these prices were not astronomical and in general I was just happy they had everything I needed. In an area where there is no Walmart or Target, Whites does a good job of squeezing a little bit of everything into a fair sized shop. I have found adorable Christmas ornaments, awesome t-shirts and many necessities. It can be a little tough walking through here at times when it gets crowded, just be patient. There is always a line for the cashier but it usually goes pretty quick. The people here are nice and they will help you find what you need, but some of them are seasonal workers and they may not know exactly what is in the store. If one person can't help you, just try someone else. Whites also has a liquor store around the corner. Again, great selection and helpful service. There is a reason they have been in business for a long time. NOTE: There is a cashier in front and in back. So check both areas.

It is an unassuming place from the outside and to be honest I haven't heard about this brand before. Rightfully so as i believe they started around 2010 unless im mistaken. But what really made me decide to check the store was because i saw a few good locals wearing the apparel so i thought "this brand might be worth buying" lol. An excuse to just go buy something on a weekend haha They sell clothing and a few accessories such as caps. The fabric of their clothing are sturdy but light. The sweaters looked perfect for fall and the texture of the tees were nice, soft and comfy. I opted to buy the sweater as fall as is coming up soon. The corduroy cap caught my attention right away too and I thought hubster should have it.
