The owner?/manager? was outside talking to someone who was leaving. We greeted him and he just looked at us. We asked if the shop was open. His response, usually every day but not today. We asked about the hours. His answer, that depends, maybe 12:30 to 5. We didn't mind how pretentious this place alway was because of the great furniture but this time he was just rude. Why bother?

The store is so welcoming and amazingly decorated you almost have no choice but to check it out. It's like the best of Pinterest all landing in one store. You can find your dream home all within these four walls. I went online recently to do some perusing as I miss being in Sag Harbor right now and ended up purchased some items from their online store. All the items arrive in perfect condition with a hand written thank you note from the owners themselves, Matt & Natasha. It was like receiving a gift from old friends. What a great experience. When I am back in town, I will most definitely make an effort to visit MONC XIII again. The owners live locally and are a pleasure to interact with both in person and remotely. Great place, great vibe and just great people. A winning trifecta.

We're remodeling our home in Palo Alto and as tech new money have a substantial budget (AKA can spend plenty of money on decor). We browsed, respected all the no touching and sitting signs we saw, until we made a fatal mistake and decided to pick up a wood bowl. This was apparently a step too far for the woman managing the store and we were chased out for daring to put our dirty hands on her precious bowl. Even worse, she decided to shame us by letting us know how expensive it was. Now, I get it. It's a fragile bowl. Maybe put a sign on it, like 90% of the other items in the store, if you really don't want people to touch it. But, considering the way they treated the preppy white dude who entered at the same time, I have a suspicious as to why we were treated so poorly. If you're furnishing a museum dedicated to racism and shitty behavior, boy do I have a recommendation for you. Otherwise, hard pass. Go down the street to Comerford Collection or Sylvester & Co - much nicer people and service. P.S. Worst treatment I've gotten in SO LONG that I created an account for everyone else to know. I spoke with Carlyn about what I was looking for, we put a plan together and put a date on hold. She told me I did not need a permit from the town of East Hampton to have my wedding on the beach and put me in contact with a company that could provide the catering. She said she would email me the contract and a "mood board". I never received an email from her. After a week or so I contacted her again. She said she would send it that evening, again no email. I contacted again after another week or so, she said she was busy and in the process of moving and that is why she didn't send anything and would send the contract and the "mood board" that evening....nothing again. When I spoke to the catering company, they said that I absolutely will need a permit for the beach wedding and it could take weeks to get the approval. I contacted Carlyn again and explained I could not send invites out until I have a contract signed and we were a few weeks away from the wedding. I told her what the caterer said about the permit and she said she has nothing to do with it and she was just the decorator. Finally after more then three weeks she sent the contract and "mood board", but at that point, the weeding was two weeks out. Even if I sent electronic invitations, it was too late for guest to find accommodation. Luckily I was able to book at the most beautiful restaurant in Brooklyn last minute, The River Cafe. They were so professional, handled everything and saved the day!

From hooks to paintings from artists unknown, to records, dolls, dishes, and chairs galore. This is a great way to spend an hour or two by just poking around and thinking if you need this or that. She never said all I could get is a store credit. I might have reconsidered my purchased. When I went to return it I was told by the owner that I could only get a store credit! I was told that their policy was written on their receipt. Ok, but the receipt is produce AFTER you purchase the rug and who looks that closely at their receipt! They should have their return policy more visible and have their salesperson tell the complete return policy! Unfortunately, now I have to buy something I may not be totally in love with, just to use up the store credit!
