Calvin always does a great job. I've gone here a few times to get a full set and pedicure. He is the best in North County, hands down. He pays attention to detail and makes sure you are completely happy. The woman who did my pedicure was amazing. She took her time and did an amazing job. It was her first day at Calvin's. It was the best pedicure I've ever gotten. She was very careful and precise.

I absolutely love Calvin and the staff he's hired to work alongside him. It's easy to book, easy to find and time efficient. Once you walk in it feels like you've entered a luxury spa! And the atmosphere is comfortable and clean- I consider that one of the most important things when it comes to cosmetic services. All you need to do is show one of the staff a picture and they'll be 100% transparent about their skill levels. Calvin's definitely a man of quality and enjoys focusing on detail whilst still being a light and engaging with customers. Anything you're specific about, they'll make that a priority when it comes to the finished product. If you're still on the fence I recommend giving it a try! Calvin's is worth the money and time.

Service and sanitation needs improvement BIG TIME Based on reviews I thought my first time will be great but NOPE! Can't even rely on stars anymore and so disappointed I paid 68 almost 70 dollars for short short nails that had no color nor design ! Just the acrylic base !! I just paid and dip , never going back nor recommending this nasty place to anyone 1. I was early to my appt and didn't even confirm my name for my appt just moved with hands sign to come sit on the chair I was like no greet or anything ? 2. I asked for simple small French nails and calvin himself did not want to do the design be he said " it won't look good" as if I never gotten it before like really ? I'm paying you for a service and can't get what I'm paying for ?? 3. He started first off drilling my nails and the towel that was placed on the desk had cuticle skin pieces from someone else ! So disgusting I thought he at least could do is change it and clean the desk but nope , should've been my sign to walk out the door!! 4. I booked for nails and a pedicure but after declining my simple design for my nail and nasty desk with nail dust and skin pieces on the towel I just did the nails bc I have a wedding to be part of in 2 days 5. I needed to get my nails done and that day was the only day available just sucks I had to be almost 70 dollars for just acrylic , no color or design , not even nail tech home base charge that much and they are more sanitize I didn't get what I wanted for a special occasion and they ruined that for me for a wedding I'm part of !! NEVER AGAIN SO NASTY , RUDE , AND PRICEY FOR SHIT I deserve a refund or part of my money back honestly so disappointed in everything in that place

Went there today and got a pedicure, Calvin is a really nice person. His staff was kind. Unfortunately the technician scrubbed my skin clear off today. I think she was focused on something else? She was very apologetic. It was a very painful experience. I had to cancel going on a walk with my friends today because it hurts in shoes. When I brought it up to Calvin, he gave me 10 dollars off. Paint is a cute color I guess. It's hurting worse as the day goes by. Love that for me.

I am beyond excited that I found Calvin!! I have been going to him since he was at the previous salon and was really bummed that he had left. Now, I have been to several, and I mean several, salons in the meantime since he has been gone. Nobody compares to the professional work Calvin does, and the integrity he has. I leave him every time 110% completely satisfied with how my nails look, and I love chatting with him. This new salon is beautiful! Totally cute and comfortable and I cannot say enough amazing things about him. I also really liked how his employee, I believe his name is Hector, interacted with his client as well. Enjoyed a very relaxing afternoon getting a manicure and pedicure. I think Calvin's Nails on Main Street in Templeton is THE BEST nail salon in San Luis Obispo County. Calvin and his talented staff have meticulous attention to detail and superior customer service. It's a lovely salon--quiet, and peaceful. Calvin and his staff are pleasant, friendly, kind, and always do excellent work, using high-quality polish/products. I love the foot, leg, hand and arm massage part of the mani/pedi. Calvin's salon is always extremely clean. The spa chairs with the back massagers are so relaxing. I recommend trying them out for a pedicure and /or manicure. If you live outside of Templeton, it is definitely worth the drive to Templeton for sure! They are in the same small center as Kitchenette and Griff's Bistro on March Street. read more

I came to Calvin (at Calvin's) a couple months ago with damaged nails on one hand from an accident and biting . He recommended VIP gel nails to even out my hands fingernail length and strengthening them while I could get past my biting etc. Well, the nails look beautiful and they lady and lady!!! I love the attention to detail and-superior service level at Calvins. I get pedicures often, they are fantastic as well, and you can even order wine . Did gel nails- usually everything comes off of my nails due to my job and usually after a week I chip all over. Not here!!!!On 3 weeks and my gel is still on with no chips. Made a trip to tell Calvin I am rushed due to my son needing to be somewhere last minute. He chose to reschedule me because he likes to take his time to make sure we get a good experience and a nice job on our nails. So thankful how sweet he was about my stressful evening. What a fantastic place! Calvin's is spotlessly clean and perfectly professional. I went in for a full set, and first Calvin himself spent quite a bit of time asking me exactly what I was looking for (length, shape, color, etc.) - he then outlined the various options available, clearly explaining the differences between them. Calvin himself was a delight...calm, personable and a consummate professional, and you could tell that the rest of his staff was just as professional and clearly happy to be there. Every customer who arrived or departed while I was there was super satisfied, and I was no exception. This is definitely my new "go to" nail salon! read more

My first review was left after my first visit at Calvin's, but it seems I need to update. I've stopped going to Calvin's because the gel colors painted on the sample palettes are so off. I chose a lovely olive green for my nails, but it came out as a trashy, bright turquoise. This leads me to believe that perhaps the palettes are old and faded. The person painting my nails saw the difference, but did not say, or correct, anything. I didn't say anything because the person painting my nails seemed unconcerned, so I thought the color may just dry differently. This happened three times in a row, all different colors, before I just had to stop going to Calvin's. I also have a bad habit of picking at my cuticles, but I always let nail salons know this ahead of time when I book an appointment, and I always tip extra because of it. The young man who did my nails on my final trip to Calvin's made fun of my cuticles out loud, in English. Very unprofessional. I'm already embarrassed enough about them. I now go to a different salon in Atascadero, and I've never loved my nails more. When I apologized about my cuticles to the lady doing my nails at the Atascadero salon, she said that there was no need to be sorry, that that's why I'm there getting them cleaned up, and that her only concern was to make them beautiful and make me happy. That instantly made me comfortable, and I knew that I had found my new nail salon. read more

While here on vacation, Calvin did my fingernails last year (gel fills) and he was so great, I drove back over from Cambria again this year. My gel pedicure by another male technician (can't remember name, sorry!) did a really good job as well. This is my go-to central CA coast go-to nail salon. read more

I moved to the area two weeks ago. I had gone to the same nail salon in West Hollywood for the past 30+ years and was looking for the same level of care and service in my new home town. I called and spoke with Calvin yesterday after an extensive search on Yelp and other sites. I knew when we spoke that I could trust him to take care of me at the level I had become accustomed. He opened early today so he could fit me in, consulted on my change from silk to gel, and made me feel right at home, knowing I was in the right place with the right person. Always happy with my nails after coming to Calvin's! Calvin does a great job and so does the rest of his staff. They're fast and professional. Have a large selection of colors and my nails always look great when I get acrylics or dip powder. Customer service is great, had an issue with color and they were able to quickly change it for me! Only reason not giving 5 stars is because there were a couple other ladies without masks on read more

I was looking for a new nail place on Sunday as the one I normally go to was closed. Calvin's has great Yelp reviews so my mom and I went there. Always nice and accommodating. Very clean. I've come by myself as well as with my 6 year old daughter. They are always so sweet with her. Once giving her strawberries when she had a snack attack and they overheard her saying she was hungry. Best place to come in north county and I've been to quite a few nail shops around here and I will only come to Calvin's now. read more

I have been getting my nails done for 17 years (it actually hurts to say that) and I was ecstatic when I finally found a place in North County where someone knew how to do nails!! If you are looking for quality, service, and consistency, then this is the place for you. I am very picky about my nails and this place is cozy, clean, and always does a great job. Call for an appointment if you can as obviously great service and a great nail technician are highly wanted. I have literally been to every nail salon in Atascadero, Paso, and Templeton and by far this is the best one. read more

The BEST IN THE BUSINESS. I've been going to Calvin to get my nail fix since last year, and honestly, my nails have never been stronger, healthier, or looked better. Now that he has his own shop I'm even more excited to go in every time. The location is literally five minutes from my house, and is a pleasure to be in. Gorgeous decor, to great customer service, Calvin has you covered. I always call in advance to set up an appointment, and have never had an issue with getting one. He always does a perfect job on my nails and he is a really nice and funny guy! Unfortunately, as I'm finishing up my pedicure, someone else comes up to me and asks what I wanted for the manicure. I Informed them I wanted a long set coffin nail and a blue French tip. THEN is when they told me that they "don't have time" to do the set I want. At first, I thought it was because I didn't want gel.. I don't mind getting regular nail polish, I'm patient and careful when letting them dry. Then, a lady comes back to me and tries to sell me on PRESS ON NAILS for the SAME PRICE. I asked over and over if it'd be cheaper than acrylics and I was told "same price, $65." wow. Pushing a sale for gel polish is one thing, but pushing towards a whole different product is a whole other game. After going back and forth for about 10 minutes, I made it firm that I had no intentions on getting press on nails for $65. Then in the final act of desperation, this lady tells me if she were to do acrylics the way I wanted, it would be an extra $25 on top of the $65. WHAT?? Just no. Paid for the pedicure and left. Was it worth $38? Yes, if you enjoy the relaxation of a massage, scrub, and hot stone. **The picture is of what I wanted, NOT what I got**

I went to calvin's today to get a new set and with a crazy idea on what i wanted. i knew it would be hard, but figured why not let's still do it! I wanted a white and green yin and yang sign on two of my fingers. Will, my new favorite person, was the one doing my nails this time, and let me tell ya... they turned out AMAZING. not only did the signs look really good, but he surprised me by putting chinese symbols/designs on my middle fingers. didn't know what was going on at first but the results were worth it. Never being there before. I called this morning not thinking I would be able to get in. I called and Calvin answered. I asked if he had anytime to fit me in for my birthday, he said would 11:00 work I told him yes. I told him, as being a manicurist myself, I'm very, very picky. Calvin didn't disappoint! Have been back to Calvin's four times since his new shop opened. Hector is now doing my nails (gel) and does an excellent job. He has a great sense of humor and speaks fluent English.
