Gel French manicure
K M.

Tina is amazing, so sweet and nice. Incredible, fast work. I got a gel French manicure in about 30 minutes. Lasted about a week, but could've been longer if I was more careful. Beautiful work, great experience at this spa. Highly recommend!

The price was good, $50 for a fill, she did stiletto shape great, but I paid extra for cat eye, and the magnet did not work, so I did not get the shimmer effect. The salon was a bit dirty and old, and my fill only lasted 2 weeks.

My experience was excellent. Got in last minute on a Sunday and learned later they had a cancellation. Tina gave a great pedicure from start to finish. I chose the spa pedicure and it felt amazing. Tina was great about checking the temperature with me making sure it wasn't too hot, or in the beginning not warm enough. The massage was very relaxing. The atmosphere was quiet and the TV program with islands and the ocean was soothing. Even with another customer waiting and it being only Tina and her husband James, who was working on my daughter, she didn't rush the job. The other customer did say they were early but I know some places that would still rush. I am posting the price sheet and the spa add ins for the the more deluxe pedicures (Recent as of 11/5/2023). Tina was very nice and friendly. I will definitely come back and visit.

Happy toes!

I love the pedicures here! Tina performs miracles (honestly!) as she makes my nails look amazing! I have one split nail and when she is done you can't see the damage at all! The atmosphere is calm and lovely. I just love my time here!

I keep coming back to this salon again and again! The owner and her husband are so friendly and fantastic at what they do. I always call in advance to schedule an appointment and never have any issues getting in immediately at my appointment time. They do a great job with gel nails - mine always turn out just perfect! Would highly recommend to anyone in the North county area!

Chipping polish

This is my 3rd time getting my nails done at Templeton Nails & Spa, I really want to like it for its convenience but I'm always left feeling disappointed. The sales style of the gentleman operating the salon is less than appealing. First he asked me over the phone if I could bring cash and then after I arrived and had chosen a nail polish, told me that the polish I had chosen was a $5 upgrade. It was an OPI brand and EVERY other option had no label and was unrecognizable. When I asked for a similar color polish, I was given a polish that I was told was a good polish. Three days later all of my polish started chipping and cracking. One of the nail technicians was coughing which I tried to tune out but left feeling very uncomfortable. Needless to say, even with it's convenient location, 3rd time was still a bust and I won't be returning!

I walked in for a brand new set on bitten up fingernails. I was seated with Kim and let me tell you what a treat that was. It took some time, but she gave me the most beautiful set of nails I think I've ever had. She paid attention to important details like making sure every nail matches the other in length and shape. I'm very fixated on my hands, I would have noticed any flaw by now and been obsessed with it. I can't say it enough, they are perfect. I will absolutely be back. I would recommend anyone calling for an appointment as they were very busy and it appears that I just got lucky to be squeezed in.

Messed up pedicure that didn't get fixed

I had a gift certificate for 50.00- which is why I picked the place to begin. Nice location near Trader Joe's. I decided for a 55.00 "more than regular pedicure" and they still charged me another 15.00, plus an atm fee of 2.50 and 1.00 online fee for this regular polished pedicure. The additional charges: 10.00 for nails and 5.00 for my toes toes, to take off the gel that was previously on. My issues is they didn't vocalize that it was somehow 15.00 more for the service. Like 55 plus that 15, or the withheld no card payment issue regarding the atm fees/cash only I didn't expect that the gel polish be free to take off, but charging me five dollars to take off the toe polish after a $55 pedicure is upsetting, and is ridiculous... with the 10 you charged for my nails ...causing your shitty review. My recommendation is to go somewhere else and save some money. The plus side of the rip off is --you can also tack on another 10.00 and get yourself a glass of wine from next door. Also though, the lady messed my toe up and didn't take off and re paint my toe nail, she just brushed it over again. If it was 30.00 understandable, but 70.00 doesn't leave any room for errors

I've got a lot to say about this place. Went in and spent $135 with tip for pedicure and nails, which included a design. Less than one week later I was back for a broken nail and gems falling off the design. They fixed these things free of charge but had the nerve to mention that I only gave them a four star review on yelp. I told them they were lucky I didn't downgrade the review after needing to drive back 30 minutes for them to fix my nail and design. Now less than a week after they fixed it, yet another broken nail and more gems falling off. I told them when I went back the second time to take the gems all off if they weren't going to stay on since I like my nails to look nice for more than a week or two at a time. They insisted on fixing it. I moved from Sacramento about two months ago and had high hopes for this place based on their reviews. But I don't have the time nor money to go back an hour two ways each time the nails are messed up. My nail tech in Sacramento had my nails looking great 30 days, or more each time, so it's clear this place is not doing something right. Not to mention I paid about 20% more here for the nails to be breaking and the design to not last. DO NOT RECOMMEND Update 10/28. Business owner contacted me twice from personal non-business account to harass me for this review.

Expired coupon on their website that apparently they don't know how to delete

Went here this morning with my mom and little sister for the first time. The guy working there said that they've been in business (by Trader Joe's) for 3 months now. The problems I had with this visit were: 1. We made an appointment, then 2 out of 3 of us had to wait for 30min until we could be helped. 2. They use outdated menus listing their prices for services. The lady told us at the end that the menus being used were old and that the price was actually higher than what was listed. This is very misleading and deceiving. If the store is only a couple months old why would they be using "old" menus?? Also, while I was getting my acrylic manicure done a different customer was leaving and paying via Venmo (which I have never seen at a nail place before). She also was confused at the end price the lady gave her. The customer said that the last time she got her nails done the exact same way it was $85 but now the lady was trying to charge her $100. To which the Nail lady replied that the person who did her nails just must've not told her about the extra charge for whatever service she provided. 3. Their credit card machine "wasn't working". I find this one interesting b/c it could be true that the credit card machine wasn't working. However, they do have an ATM machine in the store that I noticed upon entering. I don't really see a reason for an ATM machine in a nail salon. If you are expecting to spend a lot of cash at the salon, you would already be carrying the cash with you before you get to the store. The only reason they would have for having the ATM in the store is if multiple customers keep needing to withdraw money to pay for their services. The machine also charges you $2.50 each time to withdraw and you can only withdraw up to $200 at a time. If your total was over $200 like ours was you'll pay an extra $5 b/c this nail place wants cash. Sketchy businesses often times like to deal in all cash so they can evade paying taxes and reporting to the IRS. I am not saying that is the case here necessarily, but I would not be surprised. 4. I feel as though they could've done a better job on my acrylics. I still love them don't get me wrong! However, there are little markings underneath that they didn't take the time to clean off from my last acrylic nails. There are also little white powder marks that I don't think should be there...My pedicure w/gel was alright, I'd say fairly standard. 5. They're website is outdated. They have an expired coupon for free beverages on their website from 2018 that can be misleading. It's the first thing that pops up when you visit their page. They claim that they do not know how to delete the post on the website. I don't know how big of a deal this one is for most people. Personally, I am used to nail places offering this service for free usually. It didn't really bother me but I will admit that I was confused at first. Overall, I am never going back and I would not recommend this place to anyone. I gave a 2 star review instead of a 1 star b/c I wouldn't say it was a complete disaster. I do have fairly nicely done nails now and my eyebrows/lip waxed, so how mad could I really be. I usually don't write bad reviews but I felt as though all of this needed to be said. Thank you for taking the time to read this review, I hope it helps! :)

This was just an "ok" experience. My get peeled off the same week I had it done. Not worth the money.

Wow... look at that SHINE!…read more Simply put, Calvin is truly a master of his craft. I've lived in several states and have had my nails done by many artists over the years, but no one comes close to his attention to detail, precision, and beautiful work. He also has a genuinely kind heart, which makes the experience even better. One thing I really appreciate is when my acrylic fill stays around $60 cash. Having consistent pricing makes it easier to budget, and it's something I truly value as a loyal client. I hope to keep coming back for a long time because his work is absolutely unmatched.

I had high hopes for Calvin's after seeing the multitude of good reviews and disappointed can't even begin to explain how I felt after leaving. Not only did he do a messy job on my nails, it was obviously rushed and aggressive, giving zero care to the quality of the nail job nor my nails themselves! The paint job was messy, and because he didn't fully file my nails down, was left with air bubbles in my nails! At this point, I chalked it up to him having a bad day, as we all do, and didn't want to let this one bad experience define Calvin for me. I even still tipped an extra 10 dollars when the work did not call for it. But, when I tried to bring my concerns to him-- he told me that was my fault because I chose that paint. What a response! You mean the paint I chose out of YOUR selection? Unbelievable. When I asked if he could fix his first job, he gave me dismissive and annoyed responses about how he was busy and couldn't until 4 days later-- but I agreed and when I returned the horrible attitude continued. He completely ignored me when I greeted him, and was even more aggressive with my hands. When I was sharing my concerns about the last job, he was rude with his responses. I decided to tell him I no longer wanted to continue getting them fixed, and I got up and left. This was all with no attempt on his end to fix his mistakes. I understand having a busy and stressful day-- trust me. What I won't excuse is having zero care for the customer in your chair. Do yourself a favor and do not come to Calvin's.

I start with the pedicure and it was everything a pedicure should be, Ella was an amazing person and very gentle. Unfortunately, as I'm finishing up my pedicure, someone else comes up to me and asks what I wanted for the manicure. I Informed them I wanted a long set coffin nail and a blue French tip. THEN is when they told me that they "don't have time" to do the set I want. At first, I thought it was because I didn't want gel.. I don't mind getting regular nail polish, I'm patient and careful when letting them dry. Then, a lady comes back to me and tries to sell me on PRESS ON NAILS for the SAME PRICE. I asked over and over if it'd be cheaper than acrylics and I was told "same price, $65." wow. Pushing a sale for gel polish is one thing, but pushing towards a whole different product is a whole other game. After going back and forth for about 10 minutes, I made it firm that I had no intentions on getting press on nails for $65. Then in the final act of desperation, this lady tells me if she were to do acrylics the way I wanted, it would be an extra $25 on top of the $65. WHAT?? Just no. Paid for the pedicure and left. Was it worth $38? Yes, if you enjoy the relaxation of a massage, scrub, and hot stone. **The picture is of what I wanted, NOT what I got**
