This was my first time at calvins and I came hear because of the great reviews. they must have been having a off day when I visited this place for a set of acrylics and pedi. I was sitted and no one offered me a drink although I could see they had drinks available. Next I had two people working one for my nails and one for my toes. I choose the delux pedi because its nice to get the leg rubs with hot rocks. I got maybe a two minute rub which was a very light touch and I dont recall getting the hot rocks at all.I felt rushed and I got tips not the whole acrylics. the guy working on my nails didnt speak english and kept asking the lady doing the pedi to help him. My nails look like I dipped them in glitter will be glad when I can re paint them. This cost me with tip 102 dollars will not be coming back to calvins. read more

Just went to Calvin's for the second time and cannot say enough good things about it! I got a gel manicure and arrived early, I was greeted and seated immediately. I have a hard time making decisions and they were incredibly helpful pointing out different colors I might like and pulling out more options. I impulsively went with lime green... a mistake I should've seen coming! The manicure was perfect, but my color choice on my skin tone was awful! Calvin could tell I wasn't thrilled with my choice. I decided I'd rather have them take it off and go home without. I felt bad after they'd done such a wonderful job. Calvin came over as they were removing it and said it was the holidays, to pick a new color and they would redo it. I was so happy and grateful! I could not have afforded to pay double for two manicures. Calvin was so gracious and really seems to care that his customers leave satisfied. Suffice it to say, I'll be a customer for life. Thank you so much!! I would recommend this nail salon to anyone based on price, cleanliness, service, and quality of their pedicures and manicures. read more

Always love to go there. They know me by name and greet me when I come in. I have gel manicure and it's a great job. Color selection is fantastic and they have matching colors for my toes. I highly recommend Calvins. Very neat and clean. I have followed Calvin from the first time he did my manicure at Nail First Salon. I don't care if he moved to the moon. I will always seek him out because of the excellent job he does. Other times I have had gel peel off or lift at the edges. Never when Calvin does them. Hector, Luna and John ( aka Elvis ) do excellent work in feet and hands. Can't say enough about this great salon. Clients follow great techs! read more

I liked Calvin's when it first opened but the service and quality has gone way down since then.

Soooo glad Calvin is back! His attention to detail and his wry humor make every salon experience a pleasure. He is a perfectionist with acrylics: perfectly smooth and blended, no unsightly "bump" at the edges like so many other manicurists. I stopped by to say hello yesterday when he wasn't even open yet, and he took one look at my nails and said, "sit down, we're doing your nails right now!" He is the BEST!! We have been here twice for my daughter who is 4 years old, to have her nails done with gel polish. Both times Calvin and the rest of the people there have been so nice, and are great with my daughter. My daughter didn't have an appointment today and even though they were extremely busy, they squeezed her into their schedule, instead of us having to come back later. Calvin is in business and his shop is fantastic!! I have been getting pedicures and my nails done for 20+ years at shops from Chino, the Five Cities area, San Luis Obispo, Atascadero and Templeton. Calvin does amazing work & has set high standards for his employees as well. I was lucky to find him again when he opened his very own brand new shop! I had been having him do my nails at Spa First nail salon when I learned they were expanding. When Calvin moved to manage their new shop "Luxury Nails", I began commuting to be sure my nails were done exactly how I like them and for his quality/attention to detail. I went in to have my normal fill after texting for an appt. It wasn't even Calvin, but a lady who was responding and who ended up doing my nails. They lifted, cracked off at the tip and I couldn't wait for Calvin to return from what I thought was vacation. I made another appt but I arrived and no Calvin. When I refused to have a lady do my nails again, they had me take a seat & another nail tech came up to Templeton to do my nails. I was both sad and worried that I would have to go back to the same routine of poor sets/fills, causing more pain than anything. Well, I FOUND CALVIN! His experience shows. My nails don't lift and I'm complimented all the time. Cashiers, attendants, friends and even by ladies who see my hands at the store. On Tuesday, a man on a motorcycle of all things, loved the paint job. They look natural and stay beautiful! I am blown away by the "One Star" review I saw. If you even look at the reviews for "Luxury Nails", you will see 5 stars over and over, specifically complimenting CALVIN for his work before he branched out on his own. Do some research and you will see for yourself. He is always positive, funny, helpful, and willing to go the extra mile for his clients.
