We stay at the inn at least 3 weekends a year and always take our fur child. We like to walk with her in the park. The park is never crowded and very peaceful. Being in Florida, it is also has many trees, which provide plenty of shade. There are also several benches throughout for you to sit. They are made out of stone. There is a statue of St. Francis of Assisi in the back corner of the park. Our dog hates it for some reason and always barks at it! We did notice this recent trip that homeless people are staying there at night, just an FYI. It is also a little higher than the sidewalk. I never noticed a ramp for wheelchairs, just stairs. This park is so quiet and a great place to meditate or reflect. You don't even need music.

My photos do not do justice to the view from this perch. Paved trails meandered in two different directions, and we rested on a bench while enjoying the expansive views. Dr Robert B. Hayling was the "father" of the Civil Rights Movement in St Augustine in the '60's, and this panoramic park is only one of many ways this notable leader has been recognized throughout the local community and in Florida. His encouragement & participation in non-violent activism exposed him to both admirers & haters. Additionally, he had served as an officer in the Air Force, and was the first black dentist in Florida admitted to the American Dental Association. We walked across Andrew Young Crossing in St. Augustine with my wife and kids while exploring…read moredowntown, and it ended up being one of those quick stops that's more enjoyable than you expect. It's basically a pedestrian crossing/bridge area that gives you a nice elevated view over the water and surrounding historic district. The kids liked stopping to look out over the railings and spot boats and birds below, and my wife and I appreciated having a safe, easy way to cross without dealing with traffic. It's not a big attraction or anything you plan your day around, but it connects a lot of the walkable areas and gives you a little breather with some scenery in the middle of the city.

When good men do nothing…read moreevil will triumph The Andrew Young Crossing is actually part of the Plaza de la Constitucion, the oldest public park in the United States and a place of incredible and amazing historic events. Even without the Crossing it is a remarkable plaza of unparalleled significance. But on June 9, 1964 of the of most important events in the history of American civil rights took place in the plaza. An event the quite literally change the course of American history. Andrew Young was an activist and friend of Dr Martin Luther King. He was asked by Dr King to lead a march in the city of St Augustine. Young of course could and would not refuse the request even though he knew fully well what would probably happen to him. The march took place and as the peaceful protesters reached the historic plaza Young was attacked and severely beaten by an ignorant and aggressive gang of thugs, out to stop the peaceful protest. The attack outraged the public and the press covered the march and attack throughout the country. It was one of the single most important events that caused the passage of the Civil Rights Act into law on July 2, 1964. February is Black History Month and there are few events more significant or prouder that what happened on that day in 1964. One man did indeed do something and stood up against evil even though he knew he would suffer physical harm because of his stand. One man did indeed show the world that one person can indeed make a difference and one person can indeed make sure that evil will not triumph.

Coming here was kinda confusing as I had to look to the walkway to find my way to the shore line so walking down the path was fun and interesting all to its own and with the beach at the end I was all for it! The beach is long and has a way for cars to drive down the middle of it seeing this was kinda a trip to me as I'm not used to cars driving on the beach as you just don't see that in many places outside or Mexico. This spot was definitely a locals spot as I can tell I didn't fit in here which is one of the main reasons I went here as those are generally the best beaches. The beach was right and the time I spent here was awesome I really couldn't have asked for more. Overall super cool spot that has a handful of parking spots right next to the trail and just a ton of beach for you to enjoy. With that said who knows when or if I'll get back here again but let's just say I'll always have another beach day somewhere.

We found our way into the end of the boardwalk & happily shared the boardwalk with pedestrians, families & little kids with scooters! It left us off NEAR the beach-there is some walking still to get to the other side of the beach road in soft sand. Had a nice conversation with a whale watcher stationed at the end of the walkway. Be like the locals & check out Ocean Hammock Park Walkway!

He's the owner and one of the captains that you can trust with his years of experience. Super kind and enjoyable ride with someone that loves what they do and just wants to give you a great experience out on the water. You can book online and pick your start time and how many hours you'd like to go out on the boat. You also have the option of a captained or non-captained boat (but must have an experience driver with boat training). We opted for the 3 hour sunset cruise and it was perfect. We enjoyed a 20 min boat ride before anchoring at driftwood beach (island) and lounged around on the water mat. We made friends with some locals and had the perfect view of the sunset. As it got dark we rode around the coast and had a beautiful view of downtown St. Augustine at night. This was a perfect way to end day 2 of our Bach trip and I will definitely be booking again in the future for the Christmas light experience. Thanks so much!

They are open to visitors who enjoy learning about the world of sailing and are community minded. The clubhouse is spotless, and the barkeeps are so nice. They have a, bring a dish on Friday nights, and have a lot of open programs for all. The captains I have met are great people with great stories and fun to spend time with.
