The pavilion was nice and covered perfect for our big picnic! Right next to us was the bathrooms, shop, and little restaurant. We were able to change easily into our bathing suits to go swim at the beach and my friend was even able to buy a bikini from the store since she forgot one - so convenient! The beach is beautiful and the water is stunning, be prepared to walk across a lot of sand to get to the water part. After swimming, we went to get some ice cream from the shop, and I got a root beer float, which was good. Overall, such a nice time!

It was late at night when we came by about 8:30 at night, I am not sure how late the park is open till, but the carousel was gorgeous at night and looked like a ton of fun. My friends and I are all adults and had a blast on the carousel along with my 2 year old daughter. The fee to ride is $1.00 per person, and it ran for about 3-5 minutes, didn't time it but it seemed like quite a while, definitely worth a dollar. There is more to the park than the carousel however that was the only reason we stopped there for. I saw there were kids swinging on the swings and the entire park is gated which is always a plus if you have kiddos. (only negative I would have if going to this park after sunset it is not very well lit. All I could see were the swings as the rest of the play areas were to dark... but then really, who plays in a park after dark anyways... but I think for overall safety if the park is going to be open, then it should be better lit.)

My nephews were having a blast running around in the park. Open dusk to dawn. They have a covered pavilion for adults with a few benches to keep an eye on the kiddies. A wooden fence surrounds the park for added safety. Although it did look like fun, my extreme weight would probably wreck the structure.

Took a nice hand-in-hand walk thru the park with my wife. Beautiful lake (not really a pond) with a winding paved pathway and a docking area for canoes or kayaks. No gators seen but they are surely in the lake.

We stay at the inn at least 3 weekends a year and always take our fur child. We like to walk with her in the park. The park is never crowded and very peaceful. Being in Florida, it is also has many trees, which provide plenty of shade. There are also several benches throughout for you to sit. They are made out of stone. There is a statue of St. Francis of Assisi in the back corner of the park. Our dog hates it for some reason and always barks at it! We did notice this recent trip that homeless people are staying there at night, just an FYI. It is also a little higher than the sidewalk. I never noticed a ramp for wheelchairs, just stairs. This park is so quiet and a great place to meditate or reflect. You don't even need music.

Problem is- signage isn't very clear on how to get to the parking lot for the park! The directional sign on the road says "Sculpture Park" with a right arrow- and if you make the next turn you are sitting in front of the police station. Which is where we parked and walked down the sidewalk on A1A to get to the park. Turns out- there is a back exit to the parking lot at the police station that goes down a road and dead ends into the parking lot for the park. Who knew?- not this woman! Oh well- the Lakeside Park/Veteran's Memorial/Sculpture Garden park has a large round memorial to all of the service branches- very pleasing to the eye. In the center is the American Flag and the POW flag below it. There is a board walk along the lake- which provides a wonderful view of turtles! I'm sure you could see some birds too- depending on the time of day. The path winds South and is adorned with a variety of sculptures- hence "Sculpture Garden". I think my favorite was the one that looked like a Phoenix- although there were several that caught my eye. Plenty of shade, benches and art! Oh Well- the big sign at the Southwest corner of the park said Lakeside Park, Veteran's Memorial Park.

Good views of the water, marsh and under the bridge along with some art featuring various animals found in the area. It's not too long and takes maybe 20 minutes round trip but it's worth a look if you're in the area.

Coming here was kinda confusing as I had to look to the walkway to find my way to the shore line so walking down the path was fun and interesting all to its own and with the beach at the end I was all for it! The beach is long and has a way for cars to drive down the middle of it seeing this was kinda a trip to me as I'm not used to cars driving on the beach as you just don't see that in many places outside or Mexico. This spot was definitely a locals spot as I can tell I didn't fit in here which is one of the main reasons I went here as those are generally the best beaches. The beach was right and the time I spent here was awesome I really couldn't have asked for more. Overall super cool spot that has a handful of parking spots right next to the trail and just a ton of beach for you to enjoy. With that said who knows when or if I'll get back here again but let's just say I'll always have another beach day somewhere.

It left us off NEAR the beach-there is some walking still to get to the other side of the beach road in soft sand. Had a nice conversation with a whale watcher stationed at the end of the walkway. The park grounds are amazing also. Dogs are welcome if on a leash and under supervision of the owner, but they are not allowed in any of the buildings. There are many varieties of trees and shrubs. We were there at night and it seemed a little spooky to me. Afterwards, I learned that the Ghost Tours are held there at night. We only went for the Lighthouse tour. I think that on the next trip we will do a Ghost Tour, if we are brave enough.
