This is THE perfect place for toddlers and young kids! It sits back off the main drag through a big parking lot and beyond the fire station. (Also accessible from the parking lot is a welcome center and a bait shop with access to the pier--right next to the splash park.) But let's talk about the splash park!! There is a decent-sized area (maybe 20'x50') with various bubbling water fountains and multiple arcing jets (using recycled water) coming out of the concrete base. It's fun to step on individual jets because it makes the other jets go higher or farther! Right next to the splash park area is a big play structure with a sand base. (We haven't played on this yet, but might try later this week since the weather is going to be cooler. We did see other toddlers playing on it and they were having a blast!) There are two rectangular covered picnic tables and a handful of round picnic tables out in the open. There are scattered benches throughout the area as well. There are also restrooms, with showers on the outside (on both ends of the splash park) to rinse off either coming or going from the park or the ocean. The first day, the park held our almost 2-year-old's attention for a good hour and a half (and probably would have lasted longer but the day was overcast and he was getting chilled so we made him leave!). The second day we only stayed about an hour because we wanted to hit the beach (accessible via the boardwalk at one end of the splash park--if the tide is out). You do have to keep an eye on your little ones, though, because the place is not enclosed--and it's a thoroughfare for the general public to get to the beach. But if your kids are anything like mine, they won't wander too far out of the water area! Also know that the splash park might not be running in cooler weather--there is a sign stating it won't be on if the temps are below 70. And the very best thing? It's 100% free! I soooo wish we had one of these where we live...we'd be there every day!

This is probably my favorite beach so far. Bathrooms are clean, beach is beautiful, and the splash park is great!

Coming here was kinda confusing as I had to look to the walkway to find my way to the shore line so walking down the path was fun and interesting all to its own and with the beach at the end I was all for it! The beach is long and has a way for cars to drive down the middle of it seeing this was kinda a trip to me as I'm not used to cars driving on the beach as you just don't see that in many places outside or Mexico. This spot was definitely a locals spot as I can tell I didn't fit in here which is one of the main reasons I went here as those are generally the best beaches. The beach was right and the time I spent here was awesome I really couldn't have asked for more. Overall super cool spot that has a handful of parking spots right next to the trail and just a ton of beach for you to enjoy. With that said who knows when or if I'll get back here again but let's just say I'll always have another beach day somewhere.

We found our way into the end of the boardwalk & happily shared the boardwalk with pedestrians, families & little kids with scooters! It left us off NEAR the beach-there is some walking still to get to the other side of the beach road in soft sand. Had a nice conversation with a whale watcher stationed at the end of the walkway. Be like the locals & check out Ocean Hammock Park Walkway!

A little confusing that this is listed both on Yelp and on Apple Maps as "Saint Augustine Beach…read morePier" because the sign at the location says "The St. John's County Ocean & Fishing Pier." It's $2 to walk out on the pier ("Sightseeing", per the sign) but it's worth it. It's a beautiful view! Today was incredibly windy - so bad that I had trouble holding my binoculars in place while looking for birds. But I was able to log 9 bird species while there, just watching them fly by and/or on the beach. There are benches for sitting, but they did have the end of the pier blocked off. See other reviewers for speculation on why. There's also a pretty popular Farmer's Market that sets up every Wednesday in the parking lot in front of the pier. It's popular enough that we witnessed traffic bottleneck there, so be mindful of that.

I ended up loving it so much that I came back every single day. The staff in the shop are incredibly kind and welcoming--they really make the whole experience even more enjoyable and get you excited about fishing. One of the best parts is that you can rent fishing poles for the day, which is perfect if you're traveling and didn't bring your own gear. They also sell bait in the shop, so you don't have to worry if you run out.
