Justin came to our house and executed a HERS pressure test professionally. We passed this time (was the second test for our project). What made this outstanding service for us was that Justin applied remedies to what otherwise would have been our ducts just barely missing a passing grade. Justin was polite and answered our many questions. We highly recommend Justin and CalRATERs. read more

Our HVAC contractor set us up with Calraters to inspect our newly installed system. We worked with Abdul who was great throughout the process. He was friendly, prompt, and helped to explain what he was checking during the inspection. Would highly recommend. read more

We had the advanced energy audit performed on our older home. Technician was very thorough. However, our audit report was not delivered on time and some details in the report incorrect which Nikole mentioned was due to a problem with the generation of the report(never received a corrected report?). We kept having to ask for our report and then for the summary of our video consultation. We never got the recommendations for a company that installs doors/windows. Nikole was going through some very hard times personally which I sympathize with and tried to be patient because of it, but in the end we were left feeling unsatisfied. We did our own research on the windows and doors and called it a day. Two stars instead of one because Nikole tried to compensate for their delays/errors with a follow up appt to check vampire usage which we did appreciate. read more

I am an hvac contractor and have been using Calraters for some years now. They provide excellent service and are the best! Nicole always finds a way to accommodate our last minute requests and gets me the paperwork right away for our inspections. Although I usually pull my own permits, I have used their permit services a few times and it was a great help. I strongly recommend Calraters for all of your title 24 needs! read more

Their level of professionalism and attention to detail is incomparable. Honestly, left the job site spot less and got rid of the mold and water damage that had been cause throughout time. They also re-constructed everything to look like nothing ever happened. Christian and his team are amazing. You won't be disappointed. read more

Their scheduling system is completely broken! I was originally scheduled for 8:00 am to noon which was fine. I then received a text at 6:08 pm on Sunday changing the time frame to 11:00 am to 3:00 pm which didn't work for my schedule. I texted and left a voicemail saying that time frame didn't work. I got a message the next day saying they were going to charge me a $50 fee for cancellation. I didn't cause this problem. I contacted them and they said that the message was supposed to say that the technician would be at my home between 11:00 and noon. They then informed me that the technician would need over two hours to complete the work. None of this was communicated to me. Very unprofessional and frustrating. Do better!! read more

My 20 year old furnaces and outdoor units were in desperate need of replacement. I was told they were end of life 5 years ago but somehow limped by during that time knowing that they were eventually going to fail at the worst possible moment. Luckily, I have friends and family in the commercial HVAC business that were able to get me new furnaces and condensing units and help me install them. The only missing piece was getting everything permitted which now requires HERS testing under Title 24. This testing has to be done by an independent company. I contacted CalRATERS and they totally helped me out by testing my system for leaks, applying for my permit, and scheduling my inspection. My interaction with CalRATERS was extremely professional - everyone from Jamie in the office, to Nikole the owner, to Brett, the technician that came onsite to do the testing were amazing to deal with. I passed my inspection and highly recommend CalRATERS to anyone that needs HERS testing done professionally and at an affordable price. read more

I met Marty through a friend, and I ended up hiring him to do some work. Marty and his partner Nikole were both excellent to work with. My first experience working with them was so much easier than other contractors in the past. They made the experience seamless. From A to Z we were pleased with the communication and services, and we have now hired them for a second job and I'm sure it won't be the last! Thank You Gentlemen... read more

So my experience with Cal Raters started off super promising. Spoke with Nikole on the phone, learned a lot about HERS testing and decided to go with them after getting my entire HVAC system installed. Appointment was scheduled and everything was set. I got a call prior to my testing day asking if I they could change the date to the next day because the tester had an appointment. I figured why not be accommodating and moved it back one day. Here's where things went awry....so very, very wrong. My testing window was smack in the middle of the day,1230-1:30. Not ideal for me, I had errands to run, but whatever. I got a call from Nikole at 1230 saying the tester should arrive in about 30 mins. Ok fine. He needs about 60-90 mins to do the test. I can still go get the things I need done. Cut to 1pm no one has shown up. I call her back, she seems surprised he hasn't arrived yet, and calls him and calls me back. Tells me he ran out of blue painter's tape and is picking up more, will be at my house in 15 ish minutes. Now I'm getting annoyed. I had been nice to rearrange my schedule to allow for him to go to his appointment, I didn't ask for anything in return. The least the company could do was be respectful and have their supplies and show up relatively on time. But it gets worse. The tester shows up at 1:35. He comes in like a bull in a China shop, tearing in with his gear and drops in on the rug and starts laying into me. Aggressive in his tone and posture. He's telling me that he's late because he had to fail the previous place he was at and had to "smoke test them" when I tried to redirect his tone and conversation to a more respectful one he told me "he'll fail me too from the start". At that point I told him he could leave. As he was leaving he indicated it was "against the law to yell at a state employee". My contractor and I got a good chuckle out of that one. Not sure if he realized he was the only one yelling, and as far as threatening, he is at least a foot taller and 70lbs heavier than me so again, I wasn't the threat. I don't know if he realized his entire interaction was witnessed. But it was. I don't know if he's acted that way in any other homes, but to be so brazenly aggressive, disrespectful, unprofessional and dishonest is something that others should be aware of. I don't know if he thought I would back down when he threatened to fail my HVAC system... Obviously I had major concerns that a tester would so blatantly admit that he would falsify a test simply because he didn't like a homeowner, or think his behavior was in any way appropriate. I did call and speak with Nikole about this interaction. I did not ask for nor did I expect any sort of specific ramifications for this employee. She's the owner and she can do what she sees fit. That's not my place. I did want her to know. What's unfortunate is that my contractors were there. They're all local, and so there's now 4 of us who won't in any way recommend this company based on this witnessed experience. this event happened on 3/11/20 prior to the lockdown in the Bay Area read more

During the installation of our new central AC system last week, I got a call from CalRATERS to set up an appointment for HERS testing. I was really impressed that they called even before the installation had been completed. Brett, from CalRATERS, came to our home to do the testing the following week. He explained the process and finished the testing quickly. CalRATERS even takes care of setting up the appointment with the city for the inspection so the permit can be issued. I've been working with CalRaters for about a year and they are the most efficient HERS company we have ever worked with. They subcontract for our HVAC jobs that require HERS testing, which most do. Nikole and Marty are the owners for CalRaters, Marty is very respectful and efficient when he is testing our customer's homes. Nikole is very attentive and organized when it comes to scheduling and getting in contact with our customers. Not to mention she's a big help when there are issues inputting jobs into the HERS provider websites. I have heard nothing but good things from our customers regarding CalRaters. Accommodating, helpful, and considerate. I would HIGHLY recommend. read more

Marty came on time, wore a mask and was extremely professional. I would recommend CalRaters for any of your HVAC business or personal needs.

If you want the BEST of the BEST in Furnace HERS testing or any HVAC job at a very reasonable (lowest quote I got!), then the highly professional combination team work of Nikole and Marty is what you need. Lowest priced instant quotation; worked hard to schedule me in since I was running out of time; Quick, prompt and courteous response; Professional Quality Job done right the first time; no made-up additional charges or charging extra for every half an hour; Absolutely taking the time to simply talk to, explain and inform customer (not like charlatans @ previous Testing Company I used!). Got a copy of all certification paperwork promptly (unlike the other Testing company that even though I paid for the testing, no report or repair correction recommendations!). Simply, they're not in cahoots with the Furnace Installers to make you pay the full re-testing fee over and over again if it fails (like my case was before I went to CalRaters). Honest companies are hard to come by these days. Highly RECOMMEND, completely satisfied, happy customer. read more
