The staff is helpful and directed me to the plant I was looking for. I mentioned that I was buying milkweed specifically for caterpillars to eat. At no time did the nursery staff say that the plants may have been treated with pesticides. I thought nurseries had stopped using pesticides on milkweed because it is the only host plant for critically endangered Monarch's butterfly. Lesson learned. Sadly, the plants from Calloway's are treated with pesticides. They are not butterfly safe. I lost 30 Monarch caterpillars in one day. They do have a good return policy. I love this little nursery! It's been under my nose for years but for some unknown reason was never on my radar. I've now visited twice in the last few weeks. They have the usual nursery items - plants, fertilizer, pots, wind chimes, solar lights, etc. What really makes this place awesome is the staff! They are all so friendly and helpful. Inez checked me out on my first visit and signed me up for the club and their emails. Glad she did! That's how I knew pentas were 30% off yesterday. I had to go by and snag a couple. This location is the only one I will go to. There are many reasons but the Manager Wendy there is great! If she does not have it in her store, she is willing to call others for you. I am in there every week. This is my go-to for home and work. She is always helping her employees, and customers. She greets everyone and I do not think the woman ever stops. She knows where everything is in the store from front to back. She has so much knowledge of the products and that is what I like the most. Prices are really great considering plants and products are the highest quality. Don't waste your time and money at a box store! OHHH, and, at Christmas time, we get our fresh Fraser Fir tree here (6-9ft options). You pick the tree, then staff wrap it in plastic and put it on/in your vehicle. Before I complain, I LOVE Calloway's plants and flowers. I love the chimineas they burn in the fall and I love the pretty displays that make shopping here a joy. I keep returning, even when I get bad service, and good help is hard to find these days. However, on my last trip I just could not get any help. Staff was sparse, and I finally approached a lady who worked there but kept walking away. She was walking in front of me finally when she replied, are you talking to me? I stopped and she turned to look at me. She looked exhaused but also angry, like I was interrupting her train of thought or her mission for the afteroon. I asked for a particular flower and she just said NO! I said, I guess it's too late in the season? She said, just sold out. If you ask for anything else, I'm probably out of that too. So I just let her go. And on the way out I saw a gorgeous figural fountain. I couldn't find help so I asked for the price when I checked out. The girl at the checkout counter sighed and said she'd have to go back there and couldn't leave. I asked if she could call and find out. She typed in something and said it's between $400 and $850. That's a range! She flatly said she wasn't going to check and she wasn't going to call anyone to check either. So I said can I get it for $400 if I pay now, since you won't go back there? She just stated again she wasn't going to call or go look and that's all she was going to do. So I paid my $37 for 6 small flowers and went home. I told my fiance about it and he loved the photo of the fountain, so he called. He got the same person on the phone. She said the same thing, I'd have to go back there and I am not going to go look. He asked if she could call someone and please ask. She paused, said I guess so, sighed and put him on hold and a few minutes later announced it was $850. Now, how much trouble was that? I would have bought it that day if she had just told me what the price was. I don't really want to go back. I'm annoyed. They lost a sale, and maybe a customer, and I will find a different location for my business since I'm an inconvenience. Again, good help, any help, is hard to find. Customer service is non-existent. But as a customer, I at least would like to know what a price is if I ask without being just told no. I'm not sure what has happened, but I manage several employees and they would never treat anyone that way, not even on their worst day. read more

This was always my go too place but last time I was there I saw a garbage can in the corner near the front, full of plants that looked moderately healthy(some dead). So of course I asked the front register if I could purchase them at a discount or rummage through. They called up the manager at the time and she just said "No those are going to be thrown away if you'd want to purchase them they'll be FULL price." I was super casual, tried to be friendly but she seemed just rude and snooty about my request...I understand they were trash but really? If their going to throw them away why waste them? Plus no need to get annoyed over a simple question. The staff is traditionally helpful and friendly but I don't think I'll be going out of my way to return anytime soon. They do have a decent selection on succulents, cactus, and air plants otherwise the prices can be kinda up there. read more

I moved to the Forth Worth area recently and was/am trying to find a good plant nursery. I stopped into Calloway's one midweek afternoon and found a decent variety of both indoor and outdoor plants. As I perused the selection, I found several I was interested in purchasing. Unfortunately for me, most of the outdoor plants I wanted were not marked, and I was forced to find someone working there to inquire as to price each time. Finally, having settled on a few plants, I began the checkout process. They rang them up, I paid, and was on my way. Only after I got home did I realize that for the one plant that actually had the price marked, I was over-charged by $10. The plants were overly expensive to start with, so this added bit of (unintentional) "thievery" added to my irritation. Still, it's a decent nursery and the staff was friendly. Will I go back? Probably, but with a more careful eye. read more

I'm not the biggest fan of this place, mainly because I like to grow things I can eat. I went here in the fall to see what they had available. They'd run out of fall vegetables, even though it was early in the season. They had an okay selection of vegetable seeds but no bulk section, which was also a bummer. They did have ornamental cabbages, though. It's too bad that they were potted in soils that aren't organic and perhaps even doused in chemical pesticides/fertilizers that I wouldn't want to eat. Is it too much to ask for an ornamental cabbage that also makes a good organic stir fry? I don't think so, because I found it at another garden place in town. read more

Beautiful Christmas trees! Yes, their prices are higher than what you might find at Home Depot or Lowe's, but the quality is outstanding. Last year we spent about $60 on our Christmas tree from a tree farm. We struggled to keep it watered, the needles turned brown quickly, and we were constantly picking up needles off the floor. This year we spent about $120 at Calloway's. The tree we selected was gorgeous, full, and perfectly shaped. We kept it in the stand that they provided and we've only had to water the tree once in the past month. The needles are all still green, and I haven't seen a single needle on the floor. Here is it NYE, and I don't want to take my tree down. It's still so beautiful! Next year, I plan to go back for another tree, and will probably put it up earlier so that I can enjoy it a little longer. I will be going back to Calloway's this summer, when I get ready to build a succulent garden! read more

Workers were so RUDE! I had two carts with over $600 of plants when two workers came up and removed two items saying they were already sold. Told ".How did you get those? You cannot have them...". Not "..we are so sorry. These are already sold but we could take an order for you....". They just yanked them off my carts. It was very embarrassing, not done quietly or privately. Big Fail! Ordered Christmas Tree day after Thanksgiving. Soonest delivery date available was December 10. Paid someone to wait at my house for three hours and the tree never came. Called Calloways and the delivery driver said he got lost on his earlier appointment and wouldn't be there till later in the evening. Person I paid couldn't wait so guess what no tree. Go to get a refund and I'm told that I have to wait on a corporate check even though my check cleared my bank for days ago! They have seriously lost a customer! read more

Had taken their Terrarium class Feb 17, went home built my terrarium with kit I purchased. Things went well, one plant I purchased wasn't doing well, took terrarium today to see what I had done wrong, plant was not getting enough light, I went not expecting anything but advice on what I had done wrong, they spent the time to give me advice, helped me choose another plant that would do better, and credited me for plant I had killed. I am very impressed about the service I received over a plant worth $2.99. After spending several hours picking out the perfect selections of floral plants and other items, my daughter and I went into the seed shop for a few moments to check out the selection and when we came out our basket full of items for purchase had been taken by one of the gardeners. I asked several of the gardeners standing around what happened to our basket and one of them said I put them all away!!! So naturally I was upset in fact I was very upset to have to go through and pick the arrangements out again. I asked to speak with the manager after the gardener basically told me that I would have to go and pick them all out again myself,... The manager came out to talk to me and just Shrugged his shoulders as if to say well I can't do anything about it, so.... There was no apology from either one of them and I had to go through the nursery for another hour picking out Arrangements that were completely different from what I had originally picked out. And when I checked out the girl at the front who knew about my situation did not apologize either. I will never shop at this Nursery again! read more

My son in Seattle arranged for them to deliver a Julie Child Rose bush. The driver was extremely friendly. I received the Rose bush, plant food and easy to follow planting instructions. I came in on Monday. The customer service was I will put it lightly, horrendous! I came in looking for specific plants. For one the short blonde girl at the register was of no help she claimed that she did not know half of the plants and did not get me help from someone who might know. I walked around for a good 30 minutes and I did not see any workers out at all! After another 15 minutes passed two younger kids walked around finally asking if I needed help I told them no that I gad been waiting too long now the youngest looking one with TWO hair colors mind you apologized and said that they were very busy in the back but took no further action her attitude was nothing short of rude and pushed me off as not caring. The blonde girl as I was leaving failed to say goodbye or sorry anything upbeat. I did not buy one thing and I refuse to come again. Ran by young kids! read more
