I found a pleasant & knowledgeable salesperson who knew a lot about gardening & gave good suggestions about what annuals to plant in this Texas heat that will thrive & not die. Was a decent nursery. Very pretty in its location, they have a customer area which is only about a1/3 of the actual nursery's space. There are a LOT of greenhouses that are their grow houses which customers do not have access to. It's nice that they grow some of their own plants. Some I noticed are brought in as well. They have a decent variety, some plants we've not seen at other nurseries, a bonus for checking various locations. Prices aren't too bad on the annuals and perennial plants, however their trees are crazy expensive!!!! Calloways has the same trees for less and also has a lifetime warranty on them as long as you keep the receipt. This nursery has no guarantees. I've read some issues about staff, when we interacted with them they were kind enough and as helpful as they could be. read more

Stay away from this place I tried to return 10 squares of St Augustine Grass SOD because it was dying less then a week after I laid it down. I was threatened by the Manager after he got in my face and told me he was going to knock my ass out. Went to the Benbrook Police Department and filed a police report. They said they would investigate the matter. No one has the right to threaten anyone. Above all the Manager he has no business working with the public. read more

Steer clear. This nursery told our clients they offered a 90 day warranty on their purchase. Since then, the plants have taken a downturn & the nursery (Heather & Debbie) have gone back on their word of offering 90 days. Heather informed my husband that he shouldn't have brought customers with him to purchase their plants & placed the blame on him. If your purchase anything from this nursery, be sure to get the 90 day warranty in writing. They are also extremely over priced. Save your time & money & visit The Tree Place instead. read more

I receive an email every Tuesday for a 20% Senior discount. I shopped today spending $220 before sales tax. I had to remind the checker of the Senior discount as she was ringing up the sale She says discount of $24.51 and processed my card as I am saying how does $24 make 20% she doesn't seem to hear. I repeat it louder she says "You have to have the coupon on your phone to get the 20% discount other wise it is just 10%". I said,"I reminded you about about the discount and you didn't ask if I had it on my phone which I do" blah blah ! They had to call a supervisor to give me a credit and ring it up again. So disappointed in my experience today. I purchased 144 pansies @ $1.50/piece with discounts at Premier in Benbrook and then went by Plantus Nursery on Camp Bowie West to see what colors they had, as I was looking for a specific color that Premier didn't have. To my shock, Plantus was selling the same pansies for .80/piece with discount. I was sick to learn that I'd overspent by $100 and that Premier doesn't price match. Plantus will be getting my business in the future; they also had a huge selection of pansies. It's a shame Premier doesn't consider that they have competition and won't put forth good faith by price matching. read more

They literally try to charge 2.5 times the price on stuff like peat moss and act like it's in short supply. When you try to show them that it's $19.95 at other stores and not $50 a bag that they are charging they get mad and tell you to go there. Very rude people and price gouges. Went to lowes and they had pallets upon pallets of the exact same peat moss. read more

Wine & web surfing, Saturday nearly midnight I spot advertisement for St. Augustine grass sod for sale by the individual square sheet as opposed to having to buy a pallet ...just what i needed to repair a small area out back that my new puppy had been "watering" all summer. Sunday afternoon drive across town to The Plant Shed... Kalliope loves to ride but I did not know if she would be stuck in the car and decided best she stay home. They have an amazing nursery of plants, shrubs, roses, ornamental grass, trees, mulch, garden tools, grow potions, bug banish & beyond... it took a minute for me to think of what I came after because I really wanted to walk every row of beautiful flora. The cashier was friendly, knowledgeable and did not seem to mind answering my "budding beginner" questions... I ordered two dozen sod, six bags cedar mulch and topped it off with the most beautiful scarlet pansies in the world. I drove to the grass loading spot and enjoyed plant chat with Brian (I think his name was) and Kalliope ' name came up and suggestions to help prevent grass spots etcetera. This may sound silly but I was feeling my inner plant passion. I see the future... I see a plaque on my lawn that reads "yard of the month"... Let me begin this review by saying I have many good memories of shopping this nursery with my mother and sister as a child. We used to come to The Plant Shed a couple times a year to get flowers and shrubs for the flowerbeds. My, how things have changed. Let's begin with the selection: sparse, and when I say sparse, I mean abysmal. Perhaps it has something to do with the season, but even so, it was very barren for a Texas nursery located in a well populated area. The worst part of my recent experiences with The Plant Shed has been with the employees. The employees I'm referring to are not premature seasonal help, these are seasoned adults who I know have working at this establishment with extended tenure. Today I was casually strolling the nursery and found that the selection at the front was poor... Very poor. So I decided to head towards the trees and greenhouses in the back to see if there was anything interesting (I was only looking for cacti, after all). I was on the phone with a client when an employee chased me down asking if he could help me. First of all, let me say that his tone wasn't that of someone who was genuinely interested in helping me. As he approached me I pointed to my phone so he could see that I couldn't engage in conversation with him. After that, he sent another man after me who walked right up to me (I was still on the phone), and he preceded to tell me that I was in a restricted area and that everything I would be interested in was located at the front. There have been few times in my life that I have been completely disgusted by a blatant lack of customer service, and this was one of them. If you need a place to get really good bagged mulch, pine bark mulch, this is your place. Anything else, not so much. I visit a lot of nurseries, and Premier has a very limited selection. The pricing is always a mystery. Yes, a lot of bedding plants are clearly marked, but the trees, and shrubs. It's your guess and theirs. The coupons always seemed to be a come on, that after a purchase one wonders if they got a discount or not. My last visit, I picked an end off of a 'Claire' Indian Hawthorne and at check out, I showed it to the cashier. He looked at it, and I pointed out the tale tale signs of a fungus, Entomosporium leaf spot. I asked him if he knew what it was. I really never got an answer. Maybe he did, and did not want to deal with the diseased plants, or maybe he didn't know which is sad, if he is working at a plant nursery. Sadly, I live only a few miles from the nursery. My big problem with The Plant Shed (the reason I won't be back) is lacking customer service. I really want to support Benbrook businesses. I have been here 3 times. They seem to be short staffed. The selection is not good. Do not be deceived by the coupons. Do your research before shopping here. They were wanting twice as much for same sized products available at Archie's. I ended up spending 1/3 of the price at Archie's because their smaller containers were actually healthier than the larger ones at Premier. read more

My wife and I were looking for a Banana tree, I found a coupon on line for a 7' banana tree at the plant shed, so I called to make sure they had some and the person I spoke with said yes. So my wife and I drove to Benbrook from Springtown to the plant shed. We looked around and finally seen the banana trees but the pricing was strange so we asked an associate about the coupon and he took us over to a dwarf banana tree. We showed him the coupon and pointed out it showed a 7' tree, he said I have to get a manager. The manager said it was for the dwarf trees too. I don't understand why the coupon says 7' but they try to sell you something different. So their coupons are no good and my wife and I made a long drive for nothing. I tried to contact The Plant Shed and do this through email, but never got a reply. I was in need of some screening plants so that I could get them planted and growing before the rain. I found an ad for the plant shed advertising 5 gallon Red Tipped Photinia's for $12.44. 5 gallon plants were smaller than I wanted. I went to The Plant Shed and went right to the cashier to purchase 40 5 gallon Red Tipped Photinia's, 3 rose bushes and 10 bags of landscapers soil. The cashier was clearly angry about something. He was very short towards me and kept turning to the older employee behind him and saying that he was very close to walking out. He said it loud enough for all the customers in line. Not very professional. He rang me up and took my payment for almost $700 and when I got the receipt I noticed that it said I just purchased 40 3 gallon Red Tipped Photinia's. I confronted him about it and he stated that 3 gallon plants are what the supplier dropped off and that was what the plant shed was selling even though the ad said 5 gallon. Where I am from that is called "Bate and Switch". The really bad part is the cashier acted like he was doing us a favor by giving us 3 gallon plants instead of the advertised 5 gallon plants. As we were leaving we notice that they had 7 gallon plants in the back. Why did they not substitute 7 gallon plants for the 5 gallon ones. Whoever is running that place needs to know that their employee's problems are not my concern nor is their inability to secure the advertised product that they have on sale. I feel that I am due a 20 percent refund or value in plants. I have spent thousands of dollars in this Benbrook location. We will see how much they really value their customers in their response to this review! read more
