    Basil bloom. Strong herbs!

I make it to Calloway's maybe once a year. When you have such a great plant selection at stores you visit more often (Lowe's, Walmart, etc.), it's hard to justify the sole trip and cost of Calloway's. Their product is certainly more expensive... BUT, it's a really lovely experience every time I visit, I've always found beautiful foliage, and the staff is helpful -- all that's worth a lot. I really do enjoy strolling, reading about different plants, and breathing in the planty air. Recently we made a Calloway's trip with baby Winnie in tow, and we picked out a bunch of goodies. A Japanese maple tree (since my mother stole my other one), two astilbes, lavender, rosemary, sage, basil, geraniums, and an azalea. Each plant looked healthy on the shelves to start and is now thriving even more, happy at home in our backyard.

I was looking for a Venus Flytrap Somehow I got obsessed with buying a Venus Flytrap plant but I wanted to take my time getting one with a good disposition. Some of them are mean and quick to snap. That led me to Calloway's Nursery which seems to be the only place that carries them this early in the growing season and at a reasonable price. My interaction with the staff was brief but positive. I'm vegetarian so I guess it's kind of weird I would be obsessed with buying a carnivore eating plant but enough of that. I like being able to park very close to the front door and getting your business done without passing by endless aisles of lumber, piping and patio furniture only to find they don't carry Venus Fly Traps. Right now I'm in the process of teaching my Flytrap (Morris is it's name) to not be so discriminatory towards what type of insects it eats. It seems to really enjoy eating fly's but often gives crickets a free pass. Hopefully Calloway's will consider getting in some of the other varieties of Flytraps so I can get another one to keep Morris company when I'm gone.

I've been here a number of times to supply the little container garden out on my balcony. The staff are incredibly helpful and knowledgeable, but I get the impression that they may run a little short-staffed, so you may need to ask for help rather than wait for someone to come to you. It's not a problem, though - they're pretty easy to find, and are always willing to help. Don't be afraid to ask questions - I guarantee you that I have asked WAY more idiotic questions of these folks and have been answered with generosity and enthusiasm. It's a little pricey, but worth it for the healthy, quality plants you'll come away with, and the expertise of the staff. I've never bought a plant from here that didn't make it. This place is also quite large - the flowers and other small plants are inside, but they have a large area or back for trees, bushes, and ground cover, and a decent-sized indoor area for the nicer pots, tools, and seeds. The selection is extensive, and they are generally grouped by type of plant - there's a section for tropicals, ground cover, succulents, edibles, roses, etc. If you can't find something, just ask. It's a big place - there's no shame in not being able to find something yourself. I'm partial to the edibles, myself, which usually start to disappear around this time of year (April) and don't show up again until 2nd planting in summer. They also have a bunch of great pre-assembled container gardens, hanging baskets, succulent gardens, and so forth, in case you're not in a DIY mood and would rather just purchase and water.

Plant selection was amazing well-kept and wonderful staff will be returning again

On the others side they had all of the trees and bushes, some we've not see elsewhere. They had a Chocolate Mimosa tree that we've been wanting for our lot, tho no price, and we forgot to ask. They had a weeping peach tree, super cool, haven't seen one of those, it had fruit on it as well, tho online sites say the fruit is purely decorative only and not edible. Prices were actually really good, especially on the perineal flowers and the bushes. $8.00 for some of the 1 gallon plants, and all are well grown and healthy. Can beat that price elsewhere. We talked to some of the staff for some time in the office about plants and landscaping, listen to them and them listening to us in regard to our extensive landscaping at our residence. We wanted to see about a Cascade Falls Cypress, which is a weeping cypress tree, they didn't have any in stock, that's no fault of there's, as it's a rare tree that's hard to find, partly because they take years of growth before they can even sale a 3 foot tree. They have a supplier that has them but can't get any until next year. We will return to check on that tree as well as get some other good deals. They have a lot of hardscape items, flagstone, landscape stone, rocks, etc. this is a really nice place.

We had so much fun walking around the nursery and picking out the exact plants we wanted and now I get to see them in my front yard every day. Some of our neighbors use their landscape maintenance service and my goodness their yards look like manicured showpieces, whenever I'm ready to give up taking care of my own yard this will be who I use. I can't wait to see what the team at Blooming Colors will come up with when we re-design the pool and backyard area, so far every project has been such a great experience.

I've worked with landscapers before and usually you get a lot of talk and not a lot of follow through. This was different. They gave us a few design options, walked us through everything, and actually communicated throughout the whole project which was huge for me. What really stood out was the quality of the work. We've paid for "premium" service in the past and never really felt like we got it. With Blooming Colors, you can tell they care. The details, the cleanup, the way everything came together, it just felt right. Now our backyard is a place we actually want to spend time in again, which I didn't think I'd say a few months ago. We'll be using them going forward for both our home and our rental properties here in Southlake. No question.

The photo wasn't of anything bad or wrong, it was not misleading or a misrepresentation, it was a legitimate photo of the outside area of the location that she says is shared with a landscaping company, tho what landscape company I do not know. The reasoning stated to me was that the landscaping company didn't want the photo of their area published. The photo was of the locations surroundings just as any Google maps search would provide, so it's not anything that can't be seen anyway. It showed their "shared space" which being "shared" still makes it part of this businesses space which serves as sort of a parking area. The rating on this review is based on the point of contact by the owner to manipulate the initial review by requesting removal of a photo that is a true representation of what is surrounding the business, part of their "shared space", this removes what is also a visual to allow others to find this out of the way place that is not on any main road. I don't feel it is appropriate for a business to private message a Yelp member for the sole purpose of manipulating what is on the review.
