Not impressed. The cook wouldn't know how to season the food properly if his life depended on it. Insanely bland food. I sampled several dishes, including bacon chicken ranch pizza, ravioli, calzones, the basil tomato soup and the jambalaya. The only saving grace was the jambalaya. This dish was very good. Callaway's is one of my favorite restaurants in Cache Valley. It's got a great atmosphere and great food. Their breadsticks are amazing! I've tried a couple of their salads and have been pleasantly surprised but nowadays I always go with the calzones. They're huge, filling and fairly inexpensive compared to other places in the valley. I die a little inside every time I hear people talk about going to The Olive Garden in Logan. Callaway's is only 10 minutes away and 100 times better. The Olive Garden will never see my pretty face inside their restaurant again as long as Callaway's is in business. read more

A pearl in the mucus laden oyster of Smithfield. Our Asain buddy took us to Smithfield to Italian restaurant with an Irish name, how can you get more American than that. The service was about as friendly as you can get without getting arrested for solicitation. They were very attentive and always willing to be of service. They made sure every time our bread sticks were out they quickly refilled them. The food was great, we got the molten lava cake as an appetizer. This is the first time I have ever had it with ice cream and whipped cream. On the advice of our buddy we all got the spaghetti with meatballs, veggies, and a side of Italian sausage. All I can say is WOW it was great, and they are not afraid of garlic. The meatballs were small enough to be one bite but large enough to fill even my mouth (and we all know how much I like to have my mouth stuffed with meat). The sauce is not overly rich and it is about as hearty as you can get. It is the warmth of a nation on a plate. The bread sticks are great and always warm. On the 92 mile ride home I was remembering how good that sausage tasted in my mouth. Although a little out of our way we will be going back. I think next time we will ride our motorcycles. Went there with a group of friends and waited way too long for food that was way too expensive to be so explicitly bland. Out of 8 people not one of us enjoyed our meals. I ordered the salmon which was comparable to a brick of compressed tuna. So dry that I had to drink three glasses of water just to wash it down. My wife's Pesto linguini was just a slop of noodles and bad chicken with basil and olive oil dumped over it. Basically, I'll never go there again and would highly suggest you avoid it as well. read more

Days later, and I'm still thinking about the bistro mac & cheese I ate at Callaway's. It was seriously out of this world! Came in on a Wednesday night, and it was dead, though the waitress recommended calling ahead for a table if we ever come back on a weekend. The decor is nice, and though was just slightly too chilly to sit on the screened in patio, the atmosphere out there seemed lovely. The menu is massive -- I was overwhelmed by options but the waitress helped us narrow things down. I went with the aforementioned macaroni and my friend ordered Santa Fe alfredo, which had spicy alfredo sauce and sausage. He said it was great! Also great were the complimentary breadsticks -- the waitress brought out two batches during our meal and even though we were stuffed, we couldn't stop eating them. I'm looking forward to my next visit to Callaway's Bistro! I definitely recommend it to others, as the menu has been thoughtfully assembled and there's something for everyone. read more

I've been dying to try this Italian spot for years and finally made it there. I've always thought that you can't mess up pasta. Noodles and sauce, how hard can it be? I was mistaken. Callaway's has lost my business for good. The pasta was dry, bland and too salty. The service was the worst in the valley. Rude service can sometimes be forgiven, but this service was beyond that. The wait staff took entirely too long on just a few of our groups orders. By the time some were completely finished, others received their dishes. The staff was unforgiving. Would I recommend Callaway's to my friends? No, not even my enemies. read more

I've been to Callaway's several times now, in the company of some guys I cycle with. The fact that we leave the restaurant full is a testament to the portion sizes - if you've biked 100 miles and feel full coming out of a meal, then that says something about how filling that meal is. Callaway's has a HUGE selection of great Italian dishes - pasta, pizza, calzones, sandwiches, along with all varied sorts of "secondi" that you'd want in an Italian restaurant. Recently, I went for the wings, the pesto chicken sandwich, a Tie Dye Red Ale, and the tiramisu. It was a fantastic meal. read more

Clean, fun environment, great service from most of the waitresses. ( we did have one that was very impatient) Desserts are amazing! Brownie ala mode is good as well as the carrot cake. I love the breadsticks they bring out in mason jars as an automatic appetizer like Mexican restaurants do with chips and salsa. This place is terrible, DO NOT EAT HERE!! I ate at this place once and only once, and will never go back. I ordered a calzone, and tried to put my fork in it to cut it. My fork wouldn't go into the calzone, so I tried to cut it with a knife. The knife wouldn't even cut through it. Finally I poked it with my finger and it was FROZEN solid!! This place is overpriced in general, especially for what you get FROZEN REHEATED FOOD. Worst restaurant experience I have ever had. To top things off, they just starred at me when I told them it was frozen solid. I gave it to the waitress and left. They still CHARGED us for the frozen food that we didn't eat. My wife and I stopped into Callaway's Bistro last evening and were, to say the least, underwhelmed with our experience. Apparently, they now feel as though they are upper-crusty enough to take reservations and when we arrived we were asked if we had any reservations. We had not, and told them so. At this point we were informed that there would be a 10-15 minute wait. No big deal. As we were seated, we were put at a table closest to the front door with both doors wide open. Being an evening in October, it was a bit cold. It would have been nice had at least one of the doors been closed so as not to freeze out those sitting closest to the front door. I guess that is the price one pays for not making a "reservation." When our food arrived, the taste was lackluster and could have used a tad more salt or seasoning. We ate quickly since we did not bring coats to wear during dinner and left. I believe when we want fine Italian food in the future, Callaway's will no longer be on our list. read more

The food carries this restaurant, the service does not. The food was great. Absolutely amazing and very Italian. You can go here on a budget or you can splurge. We ate fairly conservatively, but not extremely so and our bill was $35. Having said that, the service was pretty slow and not great. The food was brought out in a timely manner but they never checked back and we had to flag someone down for questions or refills. They weren't unfriendly, but not very approachable either. read more

Loved this place. We hadn't tried it previously because we're usually in Smithfield on Sundays for golf and they are closed on Sundays. The Cajun pasta is amazing. Chicken Parm is excellent as are the pizzas. Try not to fill up on breadsticks, you'll be tempted. The restaurant is family friendly and very accommodating of large groups and kids, but the noise level is tame and they have a full bar. Great find, I will be back. read more

We absolutely love Callaway's! It is our favorite restaurant in Cache Valley. We live on the completely other side of the valley, but we travel the 40 minutes to Smithfield to go to Callaway's about once a month. The Seafood Saute in the previous review is my all time favorite. I also love their Southwestern Fettuccine. I don't think I ever leave any bread sticks in the restaurant. We love them. Not even close to worth the price. I've been there twice now, and both times, the food heavily disappointed. There is no flavor to anything, everything is bland. If I'm going to spend the $ that Callaway's requires, I'd much rather go to Olive Garden, at least I know the food will be flavorful and worth it. Each time I've ordered pasta, and it's like the chef's don't know how to use salt and pepper. The noodles are tasteless, the sauces are always runny and bland, to where if you want to actually get the sauce on your noodles, you have to dip them frequently, and eat quickly, before all the sauce runs off. The breadsticks are good, but not enough to make the restaurant worth it. The service was great both times, with the server being attentive and the food arriving in a timely manner. However, given the price + the lack of flavor, there's no point to consider Callaway's if you're in the Logan/Smithfield area. read more

I went there in a group as a work Christmas party during the first two weeks of Dec. 2016. I don't remember the exact date. There were about twelve of us, and the restaurant was full, but not packed. The service was horrible. We were seated and left without water or a waitstaff for over ten minutes. Someone from our group had to track down a waiter/waitress so we could order. When we finally got our food it was delivered to the table without any silverware. Again, someone had to track down a waiter/waitress for silverware. Then a waitress spilled the tasteless oil/vinegar dip on the owner of the company who was buying our meals. It was horrifying! I will never go to this hotel again & will tell everyone I know how horrible the experiences was. read more

As is the case with most restaurants in Cache Valley Friday and Saturday nights are the worst nights to go always packed always long Waits that being said if you go out during the week Callaway's and Smithfield is a great place to eat my personal plate of choice there is there Seafood Melody full of mussels clams shrimp you name it it's in there, great! This place serves custom homemade pizzas Bistro sandwiches main courses steaks and has a wine and liquor list as well as an extensive beer list, I'm not much of a drinker so I can't tell you anything about them can tell you the first thing you'll be served is homemade breadsticks served with olive oil and balsamic vinegar very good for desserts my favorite is there carrot cake the four-layer Big Slice capable of feeding 2 very easily. Great atmosphere is actually located in an old service station that's been converted. Always good to call ahead and give a reservation especially on Friday and Saturday night great food great atmosphere the service is hit-and-miss once in awhile but if you talk to the owner she will correct this immediately read more

However, the Luxembourg salad was a plate full of lettuce and a couple of croutons. It promised blue cheese and bacon but I left my microscope at home so I wasn't able to confirm if any were actually on my salad. Everyone else enjoyed their dish. I order the same pasta dish every time....sometimes it's almost soupy with so much Alfredo sauce then other times it's dryer than dry with sticky noodles. The service is so friendly but always slow. Best Alfredo sauce in the world. All of the food here is amazing, but the Alfredo sauce is to die for. It's just perfect, and you cab get it on just about anything. My wife loves the three cheese ravioli. Also, there desserts are wonderful. The lava cake is like eating heaven, and the cupcakes are great. The carrot cake comes in a HUGE slice. So my wife and I decided to give this place a chance there are some okay reviews. Some of the best places I have ever been are only open a few hours. When we first got there we were told it would be a ten minute wait. After seeing no one leave we were walked back into a half empty restaurant to a table in a back room. We asked the waitress about a few items on the menu and ordered. She never brought us a second batch of breadsticks even though we asked. The food did not come as described. My only guesses are ether she didn't know the menu or the person cooking the food didn't. I ordered a chicken parmesan sandwich. The sauce tasted like they cooked and burned it in the can it came from. The roll was a horrible choice to go with the burned sauce and flavorless globule they called cheese. The only thing that tasted okay from the entire mess was the chicken and it still tasted like it was from a bag of frozen chicken. The fries that were described as having a Cajun seasoning. Which I have to ask why at an Italian (?) restaurant? Any ways they came out covered in cheese onions and something else I couldn't pick out. One of these events could have been chalked up as a bad experience or just an off night. All of them together I would go out on a limb and say some or all of them are fairly standard. In conclusion I probably wouldn't recommend this to anyone who actually wants Italian food. If you like almost passable service and have especially low standards you don't mind someone going under, this is the place for you. read more

Dropped by on a saturday afternoon around 5 pm. As we walked past we noticed 3 empty tables on the patio and a few more inside. Asked to be seat and the host asked if we had a reservation. We had not. He then said it would be a 20-25 minute wait. Even with 5 empty tables and no one waiting!!! Never again!! read more

I did not know they take reservations but because it was Valentines and we knew it would be a busy night, we got there at 4:25. They said they were fully reserved (even though "all" of the tables were empty) and we would have to wait or come back at 9:00. Two couples came at 4:35 (had reservations and they seated them) but the rest of the tables were open. The other couples, who did not have reservations and who were waiting, left. I told them we could have eaten been gone by the time any of their 5:30 reservations even arrived, but the answer was still they are full. We decided to wait because by the time we got anywhere else would have had to wait and they finally seated us about 20-25 minutes later -- at that time only four (4) tables had couples seated and the rest of the place was empty......................... They told us they are already taking reservations for Christmas (seriously?). The food is good but not "that" good. When we left there was no more than six tables (at most) with people at them and all of the rest of the tables were empty, but yet there was 8 people waiting (with no reservations) to be seated. This place seriously needs better management and reservation scheduling skills -- unbelievable!!!! After all, this is not a white linen/fine dining restaurant, it is a casual bistro, figure out how to manage the better -- you lost a lot of money last night with having so many empty tables and people leaving. read more

Have been going for years since they opened. Now that Bob and his wife have moved the service and food have gone down hill. Because of this, it's been a while since we went into sit and eat. The food then was so-so. We had Alfredo that was very runny and tasteless and the staff wasn't ready for customers. We waited 30 minutes to be seated and tables were open with no customers. They apologized that they were low on staff. This time we ordered out and the experience wasn't any better. I went inside for a takeout and the girl doing the breadsticks didn't have gloves on or a hair net and just had run her hands through her hair before placing the breadsticks into the jars. (GROSS) Maybe there staff needs a update on the laws for food handling. I think I can find good food else where. Its too bad, they used to be one of my favorites. read more

The service has been less than ideal each time, waiting almost 20 minutes to even see a waiter and order drinks after being seated, and waiting twice that for meals, which aren't even super hot when served.
