Used this company to book an all inclusive trip to Mazatlan because the price was unbeatable! I will admit at first I was leary because I had never heard of CalJet, had no idea what kind of plane we would be in, didn't know they were a charter company and didn't know what to expect with a charter company, and was expecting a bunch of emails after I booked like you would with a travel company. Once I understood what kind of company it was and the setup, we just took our chance and went with an open mind. Obviously they cut out a lot of the middle man junk you get with other travel companies which prob helps keep their prices low and more competitive (and is good for the traveler) but it doesn't mean the quality is less or that the service isn't attentive just because they aren't in your face. We had a bed request which they happily accomodated for us, but keep in mind because of the all inclusive set up they cannot confirm this until the week of your departure so be patient. Everything went smoothly. It was a normal sized plane so keep this in mind for your carry on, but if you do end up having to check your bag you pay up front for both departure cities. It was a very good flight, great service. We landed and were greeted by someone who directed us toward a shuttle van and took us straight to the hotel...about a 30 minute drive. They give you a bit of introduction on bus and are friendly but don't bombard you with trying to sell tours and options and simply tell you where to meet them at the hotel if you would like to do so. They give you a fresh bottle of water when you get on the bus at the airport which is nice. Once you check in there is someone at the hotel who goes over everything with you and tries to invite you to a time share orientation (they don't call it that but it's the same deal) but that's it. They don't harass you or bug you. They give you the invitation and that's it. If you want to go, great, if not, no biggie...they won't chase you down in the hotel lobby every time they see you (unlike some other resorts I've been to) so it is very nonaggressive which is nice. We had the best time ever on this trip so don't believe all the hype about it being too dangerous to go to Mazatlan. Like anywhere, there are dangers so be prudent and observant....ie, don't go out alone at night. During the day, the tourist center is great for walking, shopping. It's def. not as busy as it used to be I'm sure and I hope that improves. The good people of that city depend on tourists to make money and they need our business to keep going! I had always wanted to go to Mazatlan but just because the ships don't stop there anymore don't let that stop you from going Very easy flight esp. from Los Angeles. We had such a great time I honestly didn't want to come back. Wish we could have stayed longer. We stayed at the El Cid which was a delight. Had a beautiful room with a view of the pool and the ocean in distance. Easily accessible to all things. Food was great, drinks were great, pools and sunsets were great, service was friendly and outstanding. Honestly the best quick getaway I have had in a long time and again very happy with how CalJet handled everything to make it a smooth, painless, well planned, well organized and very well priced deal! All of my requests they responded to quickly and were very accommodating. I would definitely travel with CalJet again! To me, the prompt attention you give to a customer goes a very long way, and CalJet def. does this 100%! read more
