We stopped in yesterday looking for a new Kitchen Floor. We were enticed by signs on the window that advertised reasonable, "install prices." They are very reasonably priced and had some floors that we were interested in. The gentleman helping us was very knowledgeable about the products, courteous, and concerned. Unfortunately, we were unable to do any business here because we were told that they have a 500 sq. foot install minimum (set by the owner) and the kitchen was only 125 sq. foot. They will sell you just flooring without install for less than 500 sq. feet, but you will have to find your own quality honest installer which is near impossible in Los Angeles and fraught with all kinds of dangers and price swings we have discovered. So this place is better geared toward someone looking for flooring for their entire home, not just one room. 500 sq foot minimum! read more

About a year ago, I called Caliwood to bid out a job for a commercial building I manage. They came the next day and sent me a proposal soon after. I got a few other bids and found Caliwood to be the most reasonable. They had so many great options. The laminate tiles I selected looked like real wood. They did a great job and the tenant was really happy with how the floors turned out. Caliwood employees were very professional, quick, and they left the job site clean. Erik was a pleasure to work with. Since then, I have been using Caliwood for every carpet/wood install in both residential and commercial properties. I have recommended them to other property managers and contractors and everyone seems to be really happy with their work. I highly recommend them. read more

I was referred to Eric at caliwood by a friend and let me tell you he is the real deal. He went above and beyond what he said he was gonna do and believe it or not.....he finished 2 days ahead of schedule. The job was a 3,000 sqft home to be remodeled. He ripped out floor tile, leveled the very uneven floors and even closed off some walls for me. He installed the most beautiful 7" oak floors for us. His job is clean!!!! Very accommodating and would never say no. Damn nice guy with a great crew. I have already sent him to a few family members and they were also happy too! Thx Eric! Get ready to do my office!! I hired Caliwood Construction to remodel my Kitchen and 2 bathrooms in my home in West Hollywood. I was really impressed by their team! They are young and very knowledgeable. Chris designed my kitchen and bathrooms and I have had so many compliments on them. We did marble and marble like tiles throughout. They are very responsive and easy to communicate with. Christian was one of their employees and he did all our finish work and he was very precise and clean. I highly recommend them for all your home improvement needs! read more

Update: Since my last review we've tried to get a quote multiple times from Caliwood (after they did the floor in our entire house and our kitchen and did a great job) and they've completely "ghosted" us. It feels sucky that we had such a good experience with them before but we've gotten all the excuses and have been waiting to hear back from them so our project has been on hold for the past few months. It sucks that we were treated like this and now we have to start the contractor search completely over again and our bathroom project will continue to be delayed. The communication here is very disappointing. read more

Had a great experience with Caliwood. Eric and Madison were so extremely helpful and easy to work with! I was able to text Madison everything I needed, and she was on top of it. She coordinated deliveries for me and kept me updated when material was arriving. Made this seemingly stressful process feel much easier. read more

I did not use them, but like other said, their customer service could be improved significantly. I wanted to install condo laminate+sound proofing. I look at samples and scheduled a measurement at the store. They gave me some installation pricing and I picked out a particular material. They charged separately for transitions, demo, furniture moving, wall-moulding, etc which is fair to do, but they wouldn't accept my measurements for a preliminary quote and they seemed to be overcomplicating things. A few days later they did the measurement but overmeasured by ~10% compared to mine and only after we compared each room's measurement did it come within 2-3% of mine. They told me they'd give me quote the next day. Two days later, I called and asked about the quote and they said they'd tell me the next day. I called a second time two days later and they said they'd give me a quote that same day. They never did, and I ended up going with another local company that did the whole process from initial contact to finish in under a week. read more

We contacted Caliwood Floors to install bamboo flooring throughout our upstairs and on our stairs. While they were installing the floors we decided to ask them to also stain our oak floors to match the dark espresso bamboo. They were very professional and did an excellent job! Everyone who walks in our house comments on how beautiful the floors are. I would highly recommend Eric and his crew-on fact we already referred them to our neighbor! read more

Caliwood Floors did a fantastic job installing laminate flooring for my apartment. Their flooring material and installation are competitively priced, and the material of much better quality compared to another quote I have gotten. More importantly, the owner Erik and all the staff were very responsive to my requests throughout the installation, and definitely made extra effort to offer immaculate customer service. read more

My family and I were recommended to contact Caliwood for our kitchen remodel. We spoke to the owner Eric and he was great. He answered all our questions and was very straight forward and honest about what we did and didn't need in our home. I was so happy to deal with someone who wasn't trying to up-sell me on everything. Him and his crew were so good and they worked very clean and efficiently. We had the best experience with this company and the contractors. I highly recommend this company for any big or small job you may have. read more

My first experience with caliWood came about 7 months ago when I was looking for a reliable professional to install Hardwood floors in my home, after calling a few places I contacted Eric and his team. From the initial call I knew I was dealing with a knowledgeable craftsman and and person that truly loves his occupation. Recently I called Cali Wood for a another job and their team delivered again with top notch service.. I absolutely would recommend Cali Wood Floors. read more

I was every contractors worst nightmare, an interior designer, 5 months pregnant at the start of the project and needing to be abroad for the first half of construction. We met with a few different companies and immediately felt at ease with Eric and Madison. They were the first to come back to us with a detailed proposal, talked through everything and assured us the 4 month timeframe (in time for the baby to arrive) was doable but tight. And piece wise they were in the middle of the 5 quotes we got. Friends said we were crazy but it was now or never! This was an addition and remodel of the upstairs of our house including a huge master bathroom and for the first 2 months we needed to be abroad so i was looking for someone that could provide project management as well as building expertise. While we were abroad and we had their team essentially knocking our house to pieces i received daily photos of progress, emails asking relevant questions and FaceTime calls to make decisions i would have otherwise needed to do in person. 4 months later, within 2 weeks of my due date the job was complete and much to our disbelief we moved back into our dream master suite. (I will update the review with photos when i have good ones!) I cannot say enough good things about my experience with Caliwood. In a situation where everyone told us we were crazy to embark on the renovations with a baby on the way, these guys came in on time and on budget. Any changes along the way we're discussed and approved, any issues were dealt with without drama and panic and the results are BEAUTIFUL. We are so happy. My only hesitation is leaving them such a good review because I'd like to keep them to myself for all future projects! read more

My first 2 star review! I avoid writing negative reviews but I had to this time. =( Beware. I would not recommend this company. Long story but their customer service is lacking. They caused a lot of unnecessary stress and delays as we were communicating with them about quotes. I don't want to get too into the details since the owner appears to attack those who write negative reviews (see below). We ended up going with one of their competitors (who did a great job). Hopefully my experience is an outlier since I see they have good reviews here on Yelp! read more

This is the second time we've used Caliwood and they're great! They just did the floors to my new home. They were fast, friendly and gave me a great price. The quality of work stands up next to the best in the business. They also did all the base moldings in the house. They did a super clean job. Lastly, they created a great design in our master bedroom. I couldn't be happier with the work they did for us. I highly recommend using them for all your hardwood needs. read more

Eric is by far one of the best guys we've worked with during our current "project" home. He has been fantastic, professional, clean, helpful - everything one would want in the company that will be in their home!! We have used him twice now and it's been truly a pleasure each time. I'm about to have him back out for one more job and then we're off to the next project. I value his opinion and thoughtfulness as to what will work best... I'm looking forward to many years of "projects" with Eric and his team. read more

This place is just as good as its reviews. I had a huge issue with my landlord with flooring, so I ended up installing my own floor. The guys at Caliwood helped me pick something in my budget and let me borrow a bunch of samples to decide. They even told me they would waive their square foot job requirement, if I really got stuck with installation. They are kind, helpful, not pushy and generally awesome. If you need anyone to help you pick out or install flooring, do no hesitate to call them! read more

We purchased over 3000 sq ft of Kahr's hardwood flooring from Caliwood. Eric, the owner and manager is honest, professional, not aggressive and very knowledgeable. Another designer quoted us an 'inside' price which was ridiculously high. Eric was able to beat it by 30% and then saved us even more when he was able to bundle another order. When a few of the boxes of the hardwood had different coloring, Eric took total responsibility and searched and located a few boxes in various warehouses in the US. He even came by the house to make sure the replacements boxes were satisfactory. Definitely worth buying from Caliwood. read more

In July, 2018, Caliwood Construction completed a renovation of our 1924 Spanish Revival Bungalow that was expanded in 1977 with the addition of a large family room and second storey master suite. The home had been flipped in 2014 with some truly terrible workmanship and Caliwood was hired to correct many infrastructure problems that were apparent when the house was purchased in May of 2018. In addition to overseeing black mold remediation, electrical and drywall repairs, Eric's team also installed a new 12' wide sliding door system, along with the structural work required to accommodate the new large opening. And finally installed new hardwood floors throughout the house. Time was an issue and the renovation was complete in two months. As a retired, professional interior designer I planned to hire many of the sub-trades myself and project-manage the renovation. Eric accommodated my involvement in the project and worked with me to get the best of his team and utilize my trades people as well. Not a typical arrangement for a contractor, but he was willing to work with me, which I very much appreciated. His sub-trades were all very professional and paid attention to details, pleasing this hard-to-please designer. The new engineered hard wood floors transformed the house and I credit Eric for encouraging me to make this significant change. Budget was an issue and Eric's participation allowed us to utilize the budget in the most effective manner, providing a lot of "bang for the buck". I highly recommend Caliwood Construction, Caliwood Flooring and Eric Sousana for your own future project. read more

I had a great experience working with Caliwood Floors installing new laminate floors in my condo, and highly recommend them to anyone looking to update their home flooring. Eric (owner) and Christian (manager) have great customer service and kept frequent communication throughout the process to ensure I was satisfied. Caliwood recently completed a full remodel of our master bathroom. Eric, Tal and their expert crew did an AMAZING JOB! We took a small bathroom and a small closet and created an awesome bathroom fit for a master bedroom. We love it and would for sure use Caliwood for any future projects and highly recommend them to anyone looking to do some work on their house. Oh, and their price was great too with no hidden charges or change fees. Thanks Caliwood, Eric and Tal! read more

This review is overdue. We have a small house in Mid-City and called around our neighborhood for estimates (wanted to help local business). I got several quotes but Erik...well, he went above and beyond. He is polite, respectful and earns your trust from the time he picks up the phone. I had a good vibe. He came out immediately to look at my floors (1937 house). The previous owners had left parts of the floor to rot and floors just looked awful. Erik gave me options and pros/cons for each (not trying to sway me either way). I went with the refinish, knowing how challenging it would be. He promised top notch quality, would replace planks where needed and match them to original planks. The only downside was having to move out of the house for 4 days (we have a small house), but that was expected from all the contractors that quoted me. Erik delivered above and beyond. He showed up when he said he would. His quote was the final price. They were careful with the walls, the new planks matched the old ones and the finished stain was just BEAUTIFUL. Thank you Caliwood, for doing such an amazing job!!! - 5 stars for trustworthiness - 5 stars for respectful and polite services - 5 stars for sticking to your appointment times - 5 stars for a tight estimate - 5 stars for meticulous work - 5 stars for a beautiful job 10 stars for my peace of mind!!! Eric and his crew came highly recommended by friends of ours to refinish the hardwood floor of our old Spanish style house, and this company definitely lived up to its outstanding reputation. They were quick to schedule an appointment, and the representative was very informative and not pushy at all. The pricing was also very competitive. The workers were punctual, professional and kept the house clean considering the messy work involved. Best of all, however, was Eric's responsiveness to any concerns we had. He quickly stopped by the job site, took his time to address issues that came up, gave very helpful advice and made sure that we were satisfied with the end result. We couldn't ask for better results. Everyone who steps into our house now is immediately impressed by the quality of the work. We will definitely call Eric again when it is time to get new hardwood floor. read more

I am out of state, and was in need of a contractor to remodel our detached garage in Los Angeles including roof repair and installing new garage doors. After speaking to Eric over the phone, he came out to bid on the work the following day, and we received a bid promptly. The bid was very organized and detailed. He assured me that all of the work would be completed on time and within budget. I selected Eric's company, and very glad I did. I received updates daily along with photos of the progress. If I could rate them with 10 stars, ld do so. the work that they have done is amazing. l was looking for a company to put the laminate in our condo, when l called Caliwood floors, Tyler was very helpful and explained everything l needed to know, and whats more, he was at my place in 2 (!) hours with samples and measured everything to give me a fair quote. I was very happy with the guys who actually worked on installation, very pleasant and hardworking. The place came out better then l expected, the color was just what l wanted. Eric and his team did a fabulous job installing bamboo flooring in a townhouse I was remodeling for my parents. They were prompt, efficient and tidy, and the prices were right! The final product looks beautiful. I was working with a contractor at the time who was doing the remodel, and the contrast between the contractor's sloppy service and the perfect installation done by the team from Caliwood Floors was night and day. My husband and I just finished remodeling our first home, a friend recommended Caliwood. They did 1) hardwood flooring for our 4000sf house, 2) new staircase railings 3) staining of existing wood beams on ceiling. Everything looks fantastic and they were FAST, CLEAN, and professional. We are so pleased. I was very indecisive in the beginning when I was choosing the wood color and style, but the owner was so patient, didn't rush me and let me take my time going back and forth.
