One star off because the florescent lighting can be weird and throw off your vision and ball tracking. The staff were friendly. First time visiting Cali Smash, and I was very impressed with the facility. Staffs were super friendly and sweet. The club is beautiful, with 9 well-maintained courts, a nice bar &restaurant...a fun, welcoming atmosphere. We played 10 round robin games with friends and ended up tied for first after some very competitive matches. The only thing I noticed was that I started feeling a bit dizzy after the first few games. I had eaten beforehand, stayed hydrated & never experienced that while playing at other pickleball facilities. I'm not sure if it was the court colors, lighting, or something unique to the environment, but I thought it was worth mentioning in case others have had a similar experience. Overall, I had a great time and would definitely come back. I'd love to see more pickleball facilities like this. Didn't get a chance to eat at the restaurant but my friends did and said foods was delis too. read more

Recently, I went to California Smash - pickleball place located in El Segundo. I went on the recommendation of a friend of mine who is a ranked pickleball player, and joined by a few Yelp friends. The cost was pretty reasonable for the time that we were there. We did not realize until we got there that it also has a fully functioning bar and grill in the back. So, you can go and order drinks, and then you can be at your pickleball court - they will bring the food to you, so you can eat and drink and play pickleball - not necessarily in that order lol. We rented the court for an hour. And quickly realized that we were having too much fun, so we asked if we could continue and rent a second hour, and that was not an issue. The payment was really easy at the front. They also had a store selling pickleball equipment and clothing, and there were also locker rooms there. Great place to go and meet up with people. They have classes, and were telling me that they also do a lot of corporate events. I would definitely go back. read more

I came here with yelp friends, 2 new friends and one long-time friend, I had an amazing time. The parking was good and I found a spot easily. My GPS was not perfect but it was not hard to find the place. The person at the front was very friendly, I was checked in and found my group. They have locker rooms, bathrooms, and a bar with food. They also have special event areas you can rent out. The price was more than reasonable. No membership was required for us to play and rent the court. The courts felt comfortable and fun. While South Bay is known for its for it's amazing weather it doesn't hurt to have options. California Smash is like the top golf of Pickleball. 9 courts, indoors, food and drink options. Great place to rent a court and play with friends, sign up for an open play at different skill levels or do a group training session. If you don't have a paddle they loan them out. So there's something for everyone here. The staff and coaches are great and they have 2 pros there. I've been in a session with Claudio and he is great. I've met some awesome folks playing in the open play. And hey have food and drink options for everyone. It's also nice they have water fountains to refill your water bottle. Stopped by Cali Smash for my first visit--haven't played or eaten here yet--but I wanted to share my initial impressions because they were that good. Right away, the exterior pops: bright, colorful, and full-on Cali vibes. The gated parking lot is a solid size and easy to navigate. From there, the entrance feels warm and welcoming, with a friendly front desk and a clean, well-stocked pro/retail shop that sets the tone. The courts and social areas are impressive. You can tell real thought went into the design and layout--everything feels intentional, open, and inviting. There's also a full-service bar and restaurant; the menu sounds great, and the drink program looks legit. Plenty of seating both indoors and outdoors makes it easy to imagine hanging out before or after play. The upper loft level, overlooking the courts and bar, looks like an ideal spot for a social gathering or private event. Even without having played or eaten yet, the vibe is chill, the staff were amazing, and the overall experience left a strong impression. I'd absolutely consider hosting a social or pickleball event here in the future--and I'm definitely looking forward to coming back to play. read more

Went to California Smash for a Moms Night Out and had a great time! Such a smart concept- the way I describe it is that it's like TopGolf, but for pickleball. The food is excellent, the place is clean, and service is good.. what more do you need? It's much more expensive than regular pickleball (just like TopGolf for golf), but it's much more than pickleball- it's a social hangout spot, complete with good food, drinks, and an activity. 5 stars! I came here for my brother's birthday and it was a pretty good venue for pickleball. We did reserve courts for my brother and his friends, and the courts were pretty decent. I'm not sure how this venue will be if you are looking for open play style of pickleball, but if you're looking for a private, rented space to play pickleball with a group of friends, then this is pretty decent! read more

I've been a tennis guy and swore pickleball would not be my thing But this place has music bumping, beer taps flowing, massive TVs that you can actually see from every court! Located off N Nash St in El Segundo. Parking is in the back and a few spaces out front as well as street parking but read the signs. The place is nice. It's kinda like the Top Golf of Pickleball. I spoke with Brett not sure his position but he gave me a tour of the place since I was waiting for the rest of my Yelp friends to arrive. He mentioned they haven't had an official Grand Opening yet. The place has 6 pickleball courts on one side and 3 or 4 on the other side. They have a list of times posted for the week on one of the huge TV screens or you can check the website. They have a bar with happy hour as well as a small restaurant (basically seating tables in front of the bar to order food). You can also order food and drinks at your court as well. They have tables and seats by your courts. The restrooms are big have lockers and a shower as well. You can check the website on reserving a court. Upstairs they have a VIP room you can rent out it's spacious you can have a party up there with a dj too. They have another party room on the first level you can rent out for parties as well it's a smaller room but goes out to the 6 courts. Overall this place is nice. I didn't try the food but according to the Yelpers I played with here said it was ok and pretty solid for bar type foods. I would like to come back again. read more

Really love that this place opened near us. I have never played Pickleball before and the atmosphere here was perfect for a first time. The place is huge and has lots of great amenities. I really prefer the social courts since there is a nice sitting area. You can rent equipment if necessary, and there are options for food and drinks. California Smash is one of those places you walk into and immediately think, "Yeah, they nailed it." The indoor courts are clean, well-lit, and actually spaced out enough that you're not dodging stray balls every two minutes. The whole setup feels like someone finally asked, "What would make this fun for adults who want to play, hang out, and not feel like they're in a warehouse?" and then actually built it. The bar is a real bar -- good drinks, good energy, and the kind of staff that remembers you're human, not just the next transaction. Everyone we interacted with was friendly and on top of things. Even one of their investors was on the courts that day, and he was incredibly approachable... plus, not going to lie, very easy on the eyes. The merch surprised me too. Quality stuff you'd actually wear outside the building, not just toss in a drawer. And the party rooms? I'm already planning excuses to book them. We enjoyed having a neighborhood party of ~23 guests at CaliSmash this past Saturday. The staff (Alicia) helped pick out and reserve the best courts to accommodate our preferences. Half of the guests wanted to play and the other half preferred to socialize. George was our waiter and took great care of us. They accommodated separate tabs for all guests, which were connected to the bar and the server. That was so convenient. I had the pulled pork sliders with coleslaw, which was delicious. The bar uses fresh ingredients complementing the unique beverages. Our event lasted for two hours and afterward, we didn't want the evening to end so we gathered on the patio to keep the fun going! This was my first visit to California Smash and I will definitely come again. My wife and I had time to kill before our flight out of LAX and found this hybrid pickleball/bar hang out spot. Upon arrival, the staff helped store our luggage and made us feel welcome. I'm somewhat new to pickleball, but really liked their padded courts, nets and reasonably priced rackets for rent. The facilities looked new and felt clean. I was also pleasantly surprised by the quality of food and good beer selection. The staff knew we had an upcoming flight so they were efficient in getting us closed out and retrieving our bags promptly so we could catch the uber. With bad traffic, it was a 7 minute ride to LAX departures. Lastly, I used to kill time before flights at nearby Top Golf, but California Smash has better prices, food and closer to the airport - also good to get some real exercise in. read more
