I left my contact information to discuss my goals and ideas before officially scheduling an in home consultation. My designer emailed me the following day, and her communication has been great throughout the entire process. We signed our contract March 23rd. Our project was completed April 12th. We were given an estimates lead time to complete the project, and California Closet beat their own timeline by a month! I appreciate that their installation coordinator gave me a call to offer an earlier appointment time. This definitely sped the time frame up. They did a great job installing everything and were very careful, even putting down tarps to protect the floors. I'm very happy with the work done and look forward to using all the new space I have! My wife and I stopped by on a Saturday to check out their showroom and closet sliding doors. You have to push a doorbell for someone to come and let you in. The person that opened the door seemed extremely annoyed that we came to look at the showroom without an appointment and didn't bother to say hello or ask why we were there. After looking around for five minutes the same person handed us a piece of paper and told us to write down our contact information and then she would call us at a later time to schedule an appointment at our house. It kind of felt like she was asking to leave at that point so we left and they never bothered to call us or follow up after that. We have installed many closet systems from the closet maid Home Depot stuff to Ikea ones throughout our house and have always been disappointed by the end result. So when it was time to remodel our master bedroom we decided to go for quality. We researched a few different brands and decided on California Closets becuase the quality, finishes, and services seems to be the best. We went online and booked a consultation and received an immediate response to schedule an on-site visit. Julie, our design specialist contacted us and advised us to go to the Pasadena showroom before her visit so that we could see the different finishes and pick up sample swatches. This was a huge help. You can really see and feel the difference in their quality compared to something from Home Depot or Ikea. Julie came out and measured our space and custom designed everything for us. We were able to view in 3D and make sure everything was what we wanted. She was always very responsive and helpful with our design process. The installers were incredibly professional and finished the installation, vacuumed, and wiped down everything so it was turnkey and ready to us. Everything came out beautifully and everyday we walk into the room we still admire our beautiful California Closets media center, walk-in closet, and bathroom towel cabinets we had built. We have received many compliments on them from friends and family as well. It was pricey but definitely worth the splurge as it will be something we will enjoy for years and definitely adds to our home value. read more

We created a multi-media room with bookcases, cabinets and an entertainment center, and updated an entry closet. Julie was wonderful to work with. The media room design was complex and I was picky as we wanted to be sure our books and media would fit. She was tireless, brought it all together and made the process fun. The installation team was equally as professional and meticulous. There were a couple of minor things we didn't like and they were fixed to our full satisfaction with zero pushback. They were a little pricier than a competitor we'd used in our previous house. However, the experience, build quality and overall look and feel were much better and I wouldn't use any other company except California Closets again. read more

We had absolute the worst experience. After spending $30k on our closet, the doors are still missing. It's been over a month and they keep delaying the doors due to crack or inspection. They don't follow up or get back to you on timely manner. We had another quote which was $8k less but would be done in installments. We decided to go with California Closet since they had promised it would be done in 3 days. We are very unhappy and management hasn't done anything to expedite this. This review will be based on multiple phases: 1) upfront design work and customer service, 2) installation and 3) final closeout and customer follow up. First off, let me say we really like the CC product. The quality of the materials, the look and feel of the cabinetry. The product is well made and looks very clean and professional. We received great upfront design help from Bernadette Madden. She provided us with many options for colors, accessories and layouts and illustrated this wonderfully in the renderings and in the Pasadena showroom. We were able to select a design that worked well for our space. Next, Jesse and Kurt came to assemble and install the cabinets over a couple days. They were terrific. Jesse explained the process clearly and cleaned up very nicely in the end. It took an extra day but I appreciated the professionalism he exhibited. He did not want to rush and do a hasty job that reflected poorly on CC or himself. The installation came out terrific. The installation completed on Feb 18th. The one area I feel disappointed in is the customer follow up. I expected our sales rep to reach out during the process just to check in and gauge if everything was being done to our satisfaction. Prior to signing the contract, they spoke at length regarding the customer service and how important the customer was. Thus far, I have not seen that. Not one person has followed up to ask if we are happy or if everything was done to our satisfaction. I simply got an email regarding the final balance to be paid now that the installation is complete. I have not begun to use the product but it is disappointing when you spend material dollars on a product and there is no final customer follow up. Your customer service thus far is mediocre. Your product is terrific and the installers deserve a A but the sales rep side earns a C from me. read more

This might be slightly winded review as I would prefer giving as much information as I could to tell why I have given the 2 stars. All of this process started when I had wanted to change up my room and layout. A room I have had since basically High School as I am now... way beyond High School. After consulting my personal interior designer, she gave me a few places to contact and one of them happens to be California Closets. I started talking to California Closets at around late September to get everything started. I choose a design after going through the initial measuring, design, materials etc I was given a few things I needed to do first before they come to install. Which was to remove the interior of my closet first. Managed to do all of that along with even repainting my room as preparation. After about a month and a half of waiting, the installer came and started doing his thing. I found a pretty common ground with him as he was extremely nice. Right away however I realized he had to take out what's left of my closet, mainly the frame, which left holes on my floor. Mind you, our house has recently gotten its floors replaced just 2 months before, so this was unexpected. I was not told about this. Granted it would be kind of covered up but if the photos are any indication, they really weren't. The install took two days, as it was two rooms doing it. My personal room took longer, while my soon to be office was quicker. However, I told the installer towards the end I wasn't going to sign off on the work due to some problems I immediately saw, even before he finished. I wanted to be up front about it and he heard me out and understood. So, after it was all said and done, my installed (named Patrick) never asked me to sign off on the work, only a separate page of, I believe it was, how things worked (even though they were mainly just drawers :P) He told me he will take a few photos and tell my consultant/designer from CC to contact me asap. My consultant/designer called me a day after and asked me what is going on and I explained. I also told her about the damaged left over I didn't expect I had to deal with. After some back and forth with her, I basically said I prefer doing some stuff over in my room to rectify the problem. She said okay and we set a time for her to drop by once again. She finally managed to come again early December and I showed her in person all the stuff, I'm sure she also saw the damage I am going to post in my photos below. I told her that I want to remove some stuff before fixing so I can TRY to fix the damage to my wall and my floor. She did agree, taking a few photos with her to show. She told me that she will contact me back hopefully the next few days with my options. So, I can decide all of this before the Holidays as this was about one and a half to two weeks prior to Christmas. Well... it's now January 2nd of new year, I did send her a text on December 19th but never heard back. There are things I will admit to be my fault. The design of the sliding doors was of my choice, but as you can see from the photos, the damage to the side of the walls (never mind the paint I did prior) where the wooden frames used to be from our old closet are all there. Mainly because I was never told I had to remove the frame either, just the interior of the closets, which I had done. Again, because our floors were redone very recently, there are now areas where these holes are from where the wooden closet frames used to be (you can see this also from the photos). My installer tried his best not to have to remove the frame from the office room, and he did best he could but, holes are all there. It isn't all bad though. The closet and stuff itself is made pretty well. Materials and things like that are made well, very solid construction. That part I am happy with, it's all the little things outside of that, is what is bothering me, hence the review. I am very much willing to update my review when this problem is fixed. I am very OCD so the fact that I have to keep looking at this is just annoying me to no end. Be very careful when using them and be SURE to know what they are asking of you to do. Otherwise you might end up with some damage you wouldn't expect to have to fix. read more

After several days of back and forth emails, California Closet came through with a compromise. The installer, Brandon, returned to lift the shelf. The shelf was lifted with some damage to our wall. And since the entire unit could not be lifted without significant damage to the walls, the bottom of the unit does not have the same finish as the rest of the pantry. I elevated the rating to 3 (from 1) because Brandon took responsibility, apologized, was respectful and came up with the best solution for the situation. In the end we got a functional unit but did not get the pantry we expected and we are left to repair the damage done to the walls. The initial response should have been "We are so sorry this happened. We will send an installer to remedy the situation." -- their initial response fell short and left us wondering why we went with California Closet. Thank you Brandon. You deserve 5 stars for stepping up. The overall experience gets 3 star since we went with California Closet for the customer service and got a very disappointing initial response to our issue. read more

Julie Bennet, who was my designer is absolutely incredible. She is always responsive, she works with you to make sure your design and vision is executed perfectly. We recently remodeled our entire house and decided to go w California Closets for our primary closet and the office. We worked w Julie B. and she met with us three times to make sure that we got what we wanted and the price was within our budget. It took about 4 weeks for the installation appt. The installers were professional and fast. They did install one shelf in the wrong spot BUT Julie was very accommodating and sent out the team to fix it within a week. Bernadette Madden of CA Closets is a great asset -- she spent so much time drawing (and redrawing) a walk-in closet for me. I met with her a number of times to look at possibilities, from overall design to details like door hardware and paint finish. She was patient and gave me plenty of time to come to a decision about what I wanted. The wait time was about 8 weeks between design approval and installation. The crew came exactly as planned, on time, and were very tidy and friendly. They also answered many questions, and were able to make some minor last minute adjustments to the design. I am very happy with the closet. It is clean, with lots of room for my belongings. The completed closet is just the slightest bit sterile, ie doesn't match exactly the age or style of my house (1910 craftsman), but that small discrepancy is more than made up for by how quickly and easily the closet came together, and, honestly, how good it looks and how efficiently it works. If I had gone with my original plan (designing the closet myself, hiring a master carpenter to make a period-appropriate closet) it certainly would've been an expensive nightmare. CA Closets is definitely not a nightmare, and, while not cheap by any means, is well within fair market value for a fully designed walk-in closet with all the bells and whistles. I would definitely recommend them, and of course, Bernadette, who was such a great help, and really knows her stuff when it comes to design! Thank you all! read more

Not quite sure if the consultant I got was new or inexperienced (Kristina) but she arrived 30 mins late to our appointment and didn't bring any information or photos. After taking measurements, she quoted me 7k for a small closet with wood doors. I said forget the doors and just give me the most basic closet (2 rods, some shelves and no drawers). The quote was 3-6k which was almost triple the quote I got from other companies. read more

She listened to my broad-stroke requirements and incorporated all my needs for the home office based on her keen observation and professional judgement. Wonderful job! Sabina took my ideas for my walk-in closet and made them a reality. She was very upfront about what to expect as I was nervous about having extensive damage to the the closet walls. (There was none other than the "marks" from the old shelf and rail.) There was no pressure to choose California Closets but she made me feel like she was my partner in this process. That made my decision to choose this company. Yesterday Patrick, the installer, came. So professional and neat! The rep mismeasured a closet which negatively impacted my storage space. after two months of emails and phone calls the resolution was unsatisfactory. they did offer a discount but it was based off of the initial invoice which cost more than what the completed product cost. one of the reps informed me that the pieces not utilized in my closet due to the mismeaurement can be shipped to me. Why would I need the pieces (I'm saying this sarcastically)? This is a revision to my previous post. Mike Cassidy resolved the issue and I am completely satisfied.
