Everytime I stop in for a cut, I always leave satisfied. Each attention to detail to how you want to look is always heard and I couldn't recommend it enough. No one has touched my hair in more than half a decade even after moving out from Cali, I grew my hair out until it was past my shoulders just because I didn't trust anyone else to service and take care of my hair than Luis. Came here because of the Yelp reviews, and I am such a fan. Parking can be done on the street-- which can be fairly difficult (but I found it to be such a breeze). Interior was small, very old-fashioned. The barber was awesome. Apparently, I came at a good time because there was not a wait. He was very nice and knew exactly what I wanted! He was also very good with using his brush to get that excess hair after he shaves the head (so I don't end up with little pieces of hair in my nail beds). Oh, and I think he's the only barber because there was only one salon chair. The haircut was around $20. No appointments-- as stated on the sign. Overall, I really enjoyed my visit. I went to Luis a few days ago for a haircut, and man, he knew exactly what to do. I used to always go to an Asian hair place and pay like less that 10 bucks for a cruddy haircut. This time I wanted to see how a barber would turn out, and I was really impressed. This guy was thorough and took his time. I literally told him that I wanted to look clean, and pointed at a picture, then he did his magic. He even told me to check in on yelp, so that he could give me a free bottle of gel. Found my place and wont go any where else. First of all I'm not from around LA, born in LA. None of that crap. So looking to get a good Hair cut joint was MANDATORY. After reading reviews about Luis I thought I would give it a shot considering I'm a pretty open minded person. I've been to about 5 barber shops around Monterey park, Alhmabra, and Pasadena and none of them met up to my expectation. 1. Luis cuts his own hair, his line up on his own hair is just as amazing as he did with mine. 2. Its small and its a local business, unlike supercuts. 3. He speaks english and understood what I wanted for my hair cut without having to really explain what I wanted for my hair cut. 4. HE ACTUALLY CARES ABOUT YOUR HAIR! He takes time in lining up your edges and cleans you up NICE. I know what your thinking this place must be too good to be true right? Only good comments? Well nobody's perfect and there are some flaws. 1. Make an appointment, he is booked like crazy, but he's not going to turn away a customer. But you've been warned. (yea hes that good by the way) 2. Hours, the Hours are a little surprising in my opinion, but quality over quantity right? I came on a tuesday noticing a closed sign, I was a bit sad but its ok, I wouldn't want anybody else handling my hair from here on out. 3. Cash only, no credit cards, its 15.00$ What? 5 dollars more I would go and spend if I were to get it some where like super cuts or even a Chinese place that charges 8 dollars for a mediocre cut? Luis runs this place and is a super nice guy, very easy to converse with while cutting your hair and most of all an awesome barber !!! He always takes the time to listen to what you want for your cut while making his own recommendations. Most importantly to me, he never ever rushes through the haircut, he'll take the extra time and effort to make sure it looks good!!! Lots of other places have that factory atmosphere trying to get you in/out as quickly as possible. The shop itself is very cozy, with comfy couches and a TV, radio and magazines to help pass time if you're waiting. The one downside is Luis is super busy, usually there'll be 2-3 people ahead of me every time I go there but he finds time to cut my hair. Best barbershop in town!!! Been going to Luis to get my haircut for over 15 years. Luis been cutting my hair since I was young punk in High School. Does a great job hence why I've been going for him for almost 2 decades. Luis does a tremendous job and not one of them Barber that cuts your hair and leaves you questioning why did you even stop by. He takes his time with all his cuts! I remember once time I wanted to shave my hair bald and he suggested I don't even consider it and even offered to pay for my haircut at Super Cuts if I decided to go bald!!! Came here for the first time a week ago. I recently moved back into the area. I needed to find a new barber in the area, since my childhood barber just isn't that good anymore. For a guy, it's tough finding someone that you can trust with your hair and how you want it. So, there was a lot of anxiety when I came to here, but I trusted Luis' reviews. This place and Luis was great. He was friendly and took me in right away. I told him how I wanted my cut, and it came out exactly how I wanted it. It is as if he had been cutting my hair for years. I thought that was great because there is usually a period of trial and error with other barbers. Luis is a legit barber who knows his profession. I'm very picky and it's hard to find a place that does a good job consistency but Luis effortlessly will create a masterpiece haircut EVERY single time. I have read this is a one man show and therefore he is "busy" but as a business owner, you still have to be available for new customers to see what your all about. This shop is up the street from my parents and I decided to try his shop for my son's haircut. if you are not a regular it is really hard to be seen at all. I came in within "normal" business hours around 2:30pm and when my husband, my son and I walk in, the barber had 3 guys waiting for him and he then says to us he is closed. I asked what are his business hours. M-F 10-5 and it was 2:30pm and he said he was closed? I don't know why people have business hours and they aren't used. So if your not a regular and if you don't mind checking ever hour to see if he is open or can cut your hair then you might have a chance with this Luis Barber. Good luck. I just wanted to get my sons haircut. He is 4 with Autism and I loved the fact that this shop was just near where we stay and a small shop.
