So disappointed. We received a pair of sweats for my husband and they were too small. I let Ethan know this, and sent them back this past Friday. It was $20 to send them back, which I couldn't believe! But that was the cheapest option. The sweats were $42. I called the store before I left the post office because I couldn't believe how expensive it was, and asked if there was any way to get that refunded. The associate couldn't believe it either, and said she couldn't guarantee anything, but would let Ethan know once he was back in the store. I heard back from Ethan a few days later regarding the refund just for the sweatpants. We agreed he would send me some other alternative sizes via email. I told him we liked the quality of their clothing and would also be looking at other types of things to buy from their store. He made no mention of refunding the shipping fee, so I told him that when I called Friday, I had left a message with the associate about refunding the shipping fee. His response was whenever he ships anything it's always 7 or 8 dollars, and that they ship all over the country. I told him I was surprised also with what I had to pay but was told that was the cheapest way. ( I was just at the post office, no where fancy) His response was that they were a small family owned company and whenever a customer sends anything back it is always on their dime. Then said again it "is always 7 or 8 dollars to ship things". His tone was defensive and almost like he didn't believe me. I told him I could email a picture of my shipping receipt, and asked if there was any way they could just give me a refund of the difference from what it cost me to ship ($20) with what it "should" have costed, which was "$7-$8". He was not interested. I told him I didn't think I wanted his email after all with alternative sweats ideas for fear of having to spend another $20 to send them back (or any other piece of clothing we were interested in). I was very polite but completely shocked that he didn't even offer a partial refund. This lack of customer service shows me they are simply not interested in new customers and/or just don't really care about customer satisfaction. I was in retail for awhile, so I know customers can be a pain. However, I was super polite, and for a "small family owned business", I just can't imagine not wanting or needing new customers. read more

Great product design. Very poorly run business. Case in point: We gave a $150 gift card to a family member for Christmas. That person went to the store today to use it. Super inexperienced and poor employees couldn't figure it out. They called the manager who "didn't want to deal with it". Beware. This store has a great vibe right off the bat. Cool designs on all of their soft and hard goods as well as a very attractive and easy layout. All materials / clothes were easy to grab down and try on. They had a small fitting room to try on tshirts and other items. They had a great selection of hats with awesome designs but at $35 for a snapback they were over my budget. I was also disappointed that the design that caught my eye, a ski lift, wasn't available in any of the designs on the floor. Perhaps because we are moving into the summer season of apparel but a bummer to miss out on a sale because you have a design on the wall but not on the floor. Salesperson was helpful when we made it to the counter with our purchase but did not really engage us before then. When I went to the register to pay for the sticker my wife wanted I saw a great phone case. The design was a pattern of all of their icons on a black background. The case was simple in design but had a good weight and stuffiness to it. Price point was $25 which is not too bad for the design and quality. I'd like to check this shop out again in winter and see if they have more of their winter themed designs available. In the meantime I am enjoying my new phone case. read more

This is a cute store with a lot of potential. The selection when I dropped in was rather mediocre and the guy working was less than interested in making a sale or saying hello. I found one thing I wanted to try on so I got the sales guy's attention, asked if there was a fitting room, and tried on the item. It didn't work for me so I put it back on the hanger and asked if he wanted me to put it back where I got it. He made an indication that that would be good and so I did..and then promptly left. This store definitely had an employee whose personality matched its lackluster presence. Maybe it was a bad day or slow week, but they could really use a change in energy! read more

Went to return $60 unused shorts but they said they only accepted store credit for returns. There was no mention of this anywhere in the store when I bought it and the cashier didn't say anything at the time. We asked where it says store credit only and they said on the receipt... but you only see that after you buy the clothing and can't return it for cash at that point. We went to return it yesterday but no one was there even though the store should have been open. Not even a sign on the door. The cashier I returned the shorts to was nice but didn't have the power to change the situation. read more

I decided to review this store having been here quite a few times and noticing they had a low rating. Cannot speak to the day-to-day since I'm a bay area visitor who comes to Truckee several times a year but our most recent visit had a woman and and a younger man giving us very gracious assistance. I'm wondering if the previous service problems are fr. previous owners or an ex-employee. I bought a pricey mt biking shirt for my husband for father's day. They assured me if it didn't fit and tags on they'd exchange for proper fit. All other items we bought were fine quality. Husband's shirt fit well so I can't speak to having to actually return it but we were helped attentively with all questions and concerns. All tees or other items bought here were good quality and fit. Unsure what all the fuss is on yelp. read more

Couldn't believe how rude, offensive and inconsiderate one of the sales associates was when inquiring about an exchange (a sweatshirt purchased ~30 days ago, without washing, is already ripping at seam). The window display initially drew us in. They were supposed to open at 10am, but opened around 10:30 without a care in a world that it was passed opening time. However, the window theme kept me checking back to see if it was open. I wasn't expecting a shop full of tees, as I was hoping for more ready to wear casual clothing. The tees were creative and soft, but not what I was looking for. There was a shortage in sizing as well. Great shop! Enjoyed their "dinner and a movie" event on Friday night. Fun event! Food was provided along with water and lemonade. They also had popcorn which was an added treat. The event was BYOB which we didn't know and quickly remedied. Highly recommend as a fun casual event. We loved the items for sale inside the store! We are now fans of California 89!! read more

Eyed this shop last weekend while I was in Truckee. We passed it on our way to eat, and I walked all the way back to it in 90 degrees just to check it out. The shop itself had lots to look at. The lady that was working at the time didn't even say hello, and couldn't have cared less that I was there (now I am thinking maybe she was the owner). I was the only person in the store. At one point she walked out of the store, and I decided to leave. She passed me in front of the store as I was leaving and didn't even say a word. Very cool shop in Downtown Truckee. I love the simple designs and am willing to pay a little more to support a local business. I have been a seasonal resident of Truckee for over 30 years and love that I can buy some cool gear to show my 89 love. I first purchased a snap back and sticker and I love both. Sticker was basic and clean and has been on the back of my car for 6 months. Snap back fits well and the material is comfortable. My wife and I went back for more and will continue too. read more
