I was in search of wallpaper and was able to pick ones online to look at in the store. At the store, the sales person there was able to assist me and even placed an order for 4 swatches. I asked for a suggestion on installers. She suggested going to the WIA (Wallcovering Installers Association) website. I did but only 1 installer showed up for my area. I contacted him and provided the dimensions for all 4 walls. Their quote was outrageous and they wanted to charge extra for any prep work - $840 to install the wallpaper and $100/hr for any prep work. They said I needed 4 double rolls. My husband contacted 2 other installers. The first one quoted $425 to install but said he would not do any prep work. He said we needed 3 double rolls. The other installer quoted $550, which included any prep work and he said we needed 3 double rolls. That's who we went with. Once the swatches were received at my home, I was able to select the one I wanted so went back to the store to place my order. Even though I gave the sales person the swatch, the wrong paper was ordered. So I had to go back to return the wrong wallpaper and have the correct paper ordered. I provided the wall dimensions. The sales person said I needed 4 double rolls so that is what was ordered. The wallpaper was installed and only 2-1/2 double rolls were used. I went back to the store and requested a refund for the one unused roll. The sales person said that a refund was not possible, even though I went with the amount that the store sales person recommended. She said I would have had to use the installer's recommendation. Even though we love the wallpaper we selected and the final product, I am very disappointed that I was not able to get a refund for an unused double roll. And I also would not use the store's recommendation to go to the WIA (Wallcovering Installers Association) website to find an installer. read more

Disappointed - lack of follow through! I was referred by a manufacturer for a purchase of exclusive Calico material. Disappointment #1 - this location is closed Monday and Tuesday. Unfortunate as most retail businesses are open during the week. Disappointment #2 - A store specialist returned my call, and eagerly took my inquiry along with a promise to call me back with answers/prices/availability. It's been 2 weeks and NO REPLY. Apparently customer attention and follow up isn't a priority for Calico Corners. My business was taken elsewhere. read more

How this store stays in business baffles me. I think because of its location and connection to a large chain store that leads the unsuspecting customer to use them. Don't be deceived. This store is the worst store I have EVER been to. I spent $7000 to have drapes installed in one room and shades in another. It took about 10 months for them to make the items ready for installation. There is only one installer in all of Southern California. When he finally came out, he installed the drapes but he didn't quite measure properly because they were about 1.5 inches from the floor. For custom drapes, they should fit perfectly. The shades were poorly installed with the pulls in the back of the shade making for a very awkward pulling up and down. I called the store to complain to Yulia our representative whose tone COMPLETELY CHANGED from being a nice person to a scary cold, I don't care about your issues person. After months, someone came out to try to "fix" the problem by lowering the drapes from the top which looks odd and they're still about .5 inches off the floor. The shades were never fixed and now I'm noticing that the cords are getting tangled in the pulls. Rarely do I write negative reviews after close to 2 years from when I first ordered the items but when there is this much lack of quality and extremely poor customer service, I feel that I should warn future unsuspecting customers. I almost forgot to add that I called again to request that the shades be replaced to another style and I would pay for the difference and no one had ever bothered to call back and it's been months. read more

My initial impression was ok. No one will really approach you to see if you need anything but once I started asking questions from associates, I was greeted by the store manager(very friendly lady). Long story short, I have spent close to 10k in this store and they up charged me about some chair cushions that they so called "designer" I should have initially known. She NEVER followed up to see how they products looked and the chair covers that I spent nearly $400/chair look likes a disaster!! Horrific work! Once they take your money they don't care what they give you. I will NEVER recommend nor go there again. I wanted to do my upstairs and my mother house with them but that will not be happening. I would have given then 1 star but I like Zara the store manager. I do believe she needs to be more selective in hiring people. read more

Zar, the manager, provided excellent service. has a great demeanor and assisted with selecting fabrics for pillows to compliment the couch fabric I had selected. UPDATE: Just shy of 2 years after my first shopping experience with Calico, I am SUPER disappointed. I purchased a Roman shade for a bedroom window and less than two years later, it literally fell down in the middle of the night. It's likely that it was not properly installed in the first place. Regardless, I brought it into the store since I didn't want to mess with it on a Friday afternoon. Within the next 2 weeks, I received ZERO calls from the store, although I had left 4 messages. When I finally received a call from Sunshyne (installation manager), she said it would be $270 to fix "the mechanism". Really, $270 for a cheap wind-up toy for the top of the shade? The shade was $502 to purchase in the first place! Ugh. SO - BUYER BEWARE - These retractable shades are apparently made with the cheapest parts available, so factor in the cost of replacing your shade every two years, and decide if it's worth the constant headache, waiting time, being ignored, and no responsibility taken by the manager if anything goes wrong. I'll also add that the only other thing I originally purchased 2 years ago were drapes for my bedroom (see above). I gave a 4-star review, truthfully, because I was relieved they weren't going to charge me for their mistake because that was the feeling I was getting over the phone. Also, when the installer was putting them in in the first place, he seemed perplexed by the rod & rings because they just couldn't support the curtains. But, he installed them anyway without calling the store for confirmation. He sprayed the top rod with silicone so that they would move back & forth while he was still there. Within a week, they proved to be SO much heavier than the rod/rings could stand, they could not be moved unless I got on a ladder and moved them from the top. What I received as a replacement, was a much cheaper and worse looking rod that we are just stuck with. Those drapes were $2,000 so I wasn't willing to junk them and we are just living with it. Just totally disappointed. I wouldn't even buy a pillow from them. read more

Staff is knowledgeable and very helpful. If you are looking for fabric for upholstery or window coverings, this is a great place. It's not as extensive as going down to the design center in Laguna Niguel, but they have a great range of choices. Store has a more stylish and higher-end fabric selection than Joanns Fabrics. The store can recommend local companies who can complete your window coverings or upholstery. I've used Home Creations in Aliso Viejo. read more

Don't bother. Their quality has gone downhill from what they used to be. My couch had a smudge and now has to be replaced on one end. How long they'll take I don't know. Ordered drapes and a rod from them. Quality on rod not good. Parts keep falling off. Rod was defective and had to get a new one, But no fix for rings that are plastic and started falling off as soon as it was installed. They could not get a better quality and they had no idea how to fix the problem. Very disappointed for something that was not cheap. Trisha Goyal gets five stars for design. My window coverings and reupholstered furniture are exquisite. The fabrics she put together along with the trims are exquisite. Yet I'd give two stars for their customer service after the order was placed. Resolving several problems that were blamed on vendors took much perseverance on my part. The manager finally made things right, but her communication skills were severely lacking and produced a tremendous amount of stress. read more

I'll start by saying the quality of the upholstery was completely satisfactory; this review is pertaining to the LACKING customer service. There was a mistake on the work order that the has caused me so much grief over PILLOWS. I am an ASID interior designer and have worked in the industry for too many years- I know that the order I placed was not fulfilled- the store has refused to take any responsibility for their mistake and I had no option but to ask for my back pillows back (which were originally on the invoice) and for left over fabric TO DO THE JOB MYSELF because the upholster related to me AFTER he picked up all of the pillows and cushions that they do NOT do pillows?! He never questioned it even though it was on the Work order and once I contacted the store regarding this mistake they only offered to do the pillows for a steep additional charge even though THEY WERE ON THE ORIGINAL WORK ORDER. This lackadaisical customer service is unacceptable and management failed to rectify this problem at all. What's going on guys? read more

I didn't get to buy anything cause they told me that I would take at least a week for a fabric to come by. Run, don't walk away from this business. I have spent over $5,000 here for pillows, shades and a valance. Every order has been extremely delayed, there is no clear communication about the status, and when communication does come it is rude and blames the customer (myself) repeatedly. I have never purchased such high end items with such horrible customer service. When the store makes a mistake, which is often, their first response is to point out the errors the customer is making. For example, when they ordered a Cornice on my behalf, and I asked if they were sure it would fit (pictures proved it would not) they then blamed me for not being at home when the measurements person came (a requirement that was never communicated to me). I finally had to go with another local company, and the first thing they said to me when I told them I'd had to abandon the work with Calico was 'was is due to customer service?', and then they told me they have a lot of business from angered Calico customers. Worst of all, during this terrible pandemic, they have closed production on many items, including the place that is making my valance I ordered 2 months ago). However, they are still actively marketing to people to buy the products they cannot even make. This really does seem like a business bureau violation. read more

The wide selection of outdoor fabrics helped make our indoor breakfast nook upholstery look fabulous! I asked for the extra scraps to be returned, which they did very well. However the upholsterer mistakenly used the original foam for the seats. But Zar the manager had the upholsterer pick up the chair seats within three hours of our phone chat. The new foam seats returned a day earlier than requested. Our materials refund was handled well. If a mistake had to happen, it was handled quickly and with excellent workmanship. My mother & I unfortunately walked in to get a quick quote from this establishment. We showed up 20 mins to closing. Prior to our visit we had attempted to get a quote over the phone & they had told us they must have us come in with our dimensions. So as they had requested we did. We were greeted with a dismissive attitude even though there were 4 people working at that time. I understand there were only 2 stylist there at that time but, if it were me I would've have put all orders aside for a customer in front of you. We were planning on getting window treatments for my mothers 5 bedroom, 2,500 sq ft home. Their rude behavior and dismissive demeanor completely ruined a long time relationship we've had with Calico. We used to shop at the location in Huntington Beach, years ago. Lynn informed me of the complimentary design service that Calico offers and she came to our home a couple days later. When I came back, she had an amazing presentation put together for me with my favorite fabrics, and helped me through the process by making great suggestions, both draperies & furniture. I paid a pretty penny for Calico to custom make 18 ft. tall drapes for my living room. The fabric is exquisite and the workmanship looks good. I also ordered a rod and hardware, which I'm not going to end up using after all. The rod is not custom - it's off the shelves of the manufacturer, ordered through Calico. Calico will not take it back. I'm just stuck with it. They could probably resell it w/o much problem at all, but won't lift a finger to try to help me after I helped them earn a giant profit on my order (and past orders). Don't think I want to do future business with such unfriendly vendors when there are so many others out there willing to bend over backwards to please their customers.
