Specialty drinks were lackluster, food for 5 came out all at different times, and my fish burrito had cold tortilla and 3 oz fish for a 24 oz burrito. We went to Cali Costa on their first day of business. I wasn't impressed. But I held off on posting a review because, well, it was their first day. It's only fair. Cut to several months later. Today. Oh boy have they improved! I ordered the flauta plate which I don't think was available when we went the first time. Generous portion and so delicious! My boyfriend ordered the carnitas burrito. Again, huge and stuffed with carnitas and other goodness. In my opinion their cocktails are a little overpriced. Ten bucks for a Jack and Coke is a little much. Every time a server walk by we try to get their attention but felt like we were being ignored or maybe the live music there was to loud for them to hear. After 15 mins went by we finally got our drink order and food ordered. Sadly as a vegetarian they place the tacos on the same plate as the beef tacos seeing the meat juice all over my tacos real concern. There got a couple of vegetarian options there but it wasn't really good. The server was great but over work due to a party outside. She made up for it after waiting 30 mins and no one else try to help or ask if we been served. From the outside it seems fresh and inviting but once inside it's dark and lifeless. I really liked this place. Went to Baby Beach for the day and decided to try Cali Costa out. The vibe is pretty laid back and fun. When you walk in, the bar is right there. They have a nice patio area and a small indoor seating space. Lots of TV's around so you can watch whatever sports are on. The menu is good. I had the guacamole appetizer to go with our chips and salsa and man that guac was good! I didn't finish it all so I took it home to share with my husband later. The owner was very attentive and asked how we like the food. The guacamole had no spice in it and the same with the carnitas . My wife said she would not go back. After a year we decided to try it one more time. As we walked in on a Friday afternoon the girl was eating at the bar and just said to sit anywhere. My menu had salsa smeared all inside the middle page. Our food came out fast but the rice was old, cold and hard. The beans were also old and had no taste to them. We will not be back. I would come here for football every weekend if I lived here. The service was good for what they can do. There is not real service right now cause of COVID but a smile goes a long way, and this place is full of them. I met the owners and they are fantastic! Corn tortilla was barely warmed and tasted like it was just pulled out of a bag as it was hard and cracked immediately and barely any fish in the taco, mostly cabbage and tomatoes and the sauce on the Burrito and Enchiladas was a canned sauce and wasn't good. I hope they get a better chef in there or maybe stick to Burgers, Wings and offer Pizza because the Mexican food offered is terrible. We love this place! The food is excellent! From burgers to fajitas, it's great quality and taste. There's also a lot of different fancy drinks too. The place got a much needed makeover from the Taco Surf days, but also kept the local charm. The owners are the nicest couple too. Come on down and support them! Where to begin....Let's start at the top Josh, the manager or maybe owner, who could tell with this guy's lack of responsibility. He's rude to his staff and customers alike. It would be one thing if the food was outstanding, more like out sourced. it's anything but fresh.
