Anyway, the phone still worked, but the screen didn't. I took it to our nearest Bell store and he suggested I try Cellicon kiosk in Market Mall, across from the old Apple store location. They seem to mostly sell cases and accessories, but there's a little sign that suggests they also do Cell Phone Repair. The guy wasn't very chatty, didn't try to sell me a case, but after looking over the damage he said it would be about $110 and take about 45 minutes. I was pleased with that estimate. Bell wanted $300 to replace/"upgrade" the phone so this was a deal. An hour later the phone was ready, the price was $115 with GST, and the phone works great. I was expecting to wait a few days for parts or something, but he had one screen left for the 5C. And it's really nice to have it working again. (I spent a week looking for the original receipt only to find out the 1 year warranty expired a month ago,) Now, I really need a case something like those giant bubble soccer balls.

Clearly, his prediction of me not getting the repair done with him was self-fulfilling because I would never do business which such an obnoxious and unprofessional individual. I'm a Professional Electrical Engineer / Executive with over 25 years of experience dealing with hundreds of suppliers large and small, and I have never been treated this poorly by anyone in the technical service industry. Being in need of an alternative, I contacted Apple Expert Calgary who actually have a store, are very polite and courteous, and are able to replace the keyboard for $250 if needed because they actually troubleshoot the machine and confirm the problem before providing a free estimate. The tehnician added a small poece of rubber to top of switch and glie it on. Works erfectly. Replacement remote was $185.00. There price was way less and i didnt have to scrap a perfectly good remote controller. Very friendly and great work. I highly recommend.
