YUM ! I've been coming to get breakfast here every weekend sometimes more than once a week since it's near work . OMG im definitely obsessed since I don't eat pork & they are halal & carry beef bacon , love love love ! Honestly the breakfast is priced reasonably & always taste delicious & fresh . They have different food options , drinks , & deserts . Obsessed with their mini fruit tarts so cute. Super clean in here , girlies are always nice , and plenty of room for dine in . They are located in a small small plaza alongside a Wendy's , plenty of parking & I believe they have those charging things for electric cars

Roast beef sandwich with garlic sauce was really good, it's a nice portion, and some different combo options. Some of the menu items seem kind of hit or miss depending on your own preferences, but they have enough options that you'll likely find something you like. Accessibility: restrooms are individual/gender neutral as opposed to multiple stalls. Enough space around tables to move around easily and noise level was acceptable.

Deeeliciousness! I've driven by this place many times and overlooked it until I saw an Elite's recent check in and review. On a weeknight evening the hubby and I were welcomed by the gal at the counter. I wanted to try the kebab plate and heard good things about the garlic sauce so I asked for an extra of that. The Mister chose the garlic chicken sandwich which is recommended by other yelpers. The tots accompanied as a side option. Most of my plate was amazing and fresh tasting except for the bread which was chewy. The garlic chicken sandwich was the star of our meals. This place was so good that I returned the next evening for a to-go order and was welcomed by the same gal who remembered me from before. Switched it up and got the kebab plate for the Mister and got the falafel plate for me which normally is accompanied by hummus but I opted for more garlic sauce. Another super tasty meal! This eatery located next to a Wendy's so if you are in Torrance area and like Mediterranean, they are worth checking out.

This place took me by surprise - For the price and what you get, it's really reasonable and really good food. When you walk in there's a menu on their wall and you order at the cashier before sitting down. There's self serve water ($.99) and if you want a bigger cup, just ask for one and they'll give it to you. They offer breakfast - Omelets, Avocado Toast, Breakfast Sandwiches, Pancakes, Crepes, Oatmeal and some pastries. The prices range from about $6 to $10....that's really affordable in todays inflation ridden economy! For lunch options they offer salads and sandwiches - Vegan options are available and they range from $7 - $12, everything al a cart, but again, for today's prices, this is super affordable. Interestingly, they also offer these Mediterranean dishes - Kabab, Chicken, and Falafel plate. I think I got their Chicken Garlic Sandwich ($8.79) - It came with chunks of chicken that wasn't tough, tomatoes, lettuce, peppers, and this really good mayo spread on toasted bread. It was like a subway sandwich. And it was good! My husband got their Spicy Chicken ($8.79) - It came warm, and the sauce on the chicken was spicy! There was also something green inside and maybe peppers? I don't know what it was but my husband really liked his meal. The last thing we ordered was their Egg and Pancake Combo ($8.49) - The pancakes were fluffy, the eggs were cooked perfectly, and the strip of bacon looked like we got our money's worth lol. It was a nice piece. Plain Jane breakfast, but when other places charge $15+ for this, it's a good deal. I really want to come back and try more of their menu, especially their Kabab plates.

Specializing in Mediterranean food that uses the best halal ingredients, Calf & Chick is perfect for brunch or lunch. The salmon toast was my fav, the salmon really stood out and paired perfectly w the cream cheese. The kabab was well flavored and grilled to perfection. Whether you're in the mood for breakfast food or lunch, Calf & Chick has both! Every thing is also SUPER affordable! I couldn't believe my eyes! Such a great price for such yummy food. The place is clean and service was great! There's a parking lot available with tons of spaces.

    Chickendilla
    Mark H.

I have mixed thoughts here. Reasonably priced. Customer service was excellent. Place is clean and spacious. Parking is great. Menu has plenty of options for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Both, healthy and indulgent options available. But the food itself was a little bit of an up and down ride. I came for dinner and ordered 2 piece kebbeh, a chickendilla, and beef shawarma to go. The beef kebbeh was fantastic and the highlight of the show. Fresh crispy outer shell, with well seasoned beef inside. Super tasty. The Chickendilla was a large pita stuffed with shredded chicken and garlic paste, served quesadilla style. Smart concept. Plenty of meat and spread. But it just seemed to be missing a little something...cucumbers / pickled veggies...something to balance the flavor and texture. Still decent. The beef shawarma was a total let down. I was excited because when I cracked the box, it looked fantastic. However, the meat was over seasoned with aromatics and it was full of fat. Literally every bite was fatty. And not melt in your mouth flavorful fat. It was chewy and unenjoyable. It was not a typical beef shawarma. It was essentially thick chopped fatty steak, instead of the thin shaved lean beef shawarma you find at most places. The rice, hummus, and salad were simple and serviceable. Overall, I would give this 3.5 stars if it were an option. Since that's not an option, they're doing enough right to warrant the round up to 4 stars.

    Tuna Sandwich & Fries
    Marvin L.

I have always driven around Calf & Chick and always see nobody inside, however I saw that it had good reviews both on Yelp and Google. I see that they're a lot more popular for breakfast, but I decided to get some lunch to go. I ordered a tuna sandwich and fries for about $15. Their tuna sandwich tasted really good, but I did not like how hard biting into the bread was. Fries also seemed like the typical fries coming from the freezer. I would say the sandwiches were good but not worth it's price. Service was very good and the cashier recommended me different options to try as well as brought my order to the table I was sitting at. Again, it was very quiet and barely had anyone inside, but it felt like a cozy diner (especially with the cold weather and the heater inside the restaurant). Overall, I would not want to go here again because of the price of the quality of food.

    Grilled Beef Sandwich

I've been eating here for many years. Some of my favorites are the egg sandwich and also the pancake combo. Recently, I've been hooked on the beef grill sandwich, lentil soup and cheesecake. These 3 items are solid. The sandwich is just like a cheese steak sandwich. You get the beef, grilled onions, grilled green bell peppers, mozzarella cheese and mayo. The soup has a good consistency and taste.

Ordering delivery to my hotel room - they've changed from grubhub to chownow & tater tots no longer offered with avocado toast so I had to figure out a workaround because they aren't available as a side or anywhere else on the menu! Pre-order also not available any more, so it appears as though I will have to order from Eat At Rudy's from now on.

I wanted to follow up my very short review that I wrote about this restaurant over a decade ago as I have continued to frequent this restaurant and I have always enjoyed their food. What they offer here is a really nice selection of Mediterranean-based cuisine. They always use the best ingredients, and the food always arrives with a great presentation. Mostly, the food here tastes very-very good. And, isn't that the right reason you actually go to a restaurant in the first place? This is a family-owned and operated business. From this, you can really tell that everybody who works here really cares about the restaurant and the customers. Thus, it's always a great dining experience. Their menu offers a really nice selection of everything from gyro's to kebabs onto salads and the like. There's a really nice choice of both entrées and side dishes for you to choose from. The one thing I will say about this establishment, and this is certainly not a criticism, but whenever you eat here, they always keep the food coming. Whether it is the pita chips, the pita bread, the whatever, when you leave here you are going to be very-very full. This restaurant is located just off of Hawthorne Boulevard and a block from PCH. Thus, it's very easy to find. In terms of parking they have a parking lot over to one side of the building. You could always find a spot there. They also have a number of spots on the street, in front of the restaurant. This is where I always prefer to park. Easy in, easy out. Overall, if you're looking for some great Mediterranean-based food, this is the place to go. You will not be disappointed.

Al Hamra Kabob Grill is a restaurant run by a Pakistani owner, specializing in kebabs and grilled…read moremeats inspired by Middle Eastern and Mediterranean cuisine. The menu also features traditional Pakistani, Persian, and Arabic dishes, such as Beef Nihari and Haleem. After several visits, here are my thoughts on some of their grilled meats and desserts. Beef Kofta - 3/5. The kofta was a bit dry and tough. I wish it had more fat and seasoning to make it juicier and more flavorful. The grilling is also somewhat inconsistent--sometimes the kofta comes out beautifully browned, while other times it's over-charred. Grilled Fish - 4/5. This is easily my favorite item on the menu and, in my opinion, their best dish. The fish is seasoned just enough to enhance its natural flavor without overpowering it. It's grilled very well, developing a beautiful golden-brown crust while remaining moist and tender inside. Beef Shish Kebab - 3.5/5. The quality of the beef is decent, especially considering the price. Given the cut of meat they use, they've done a commendable job with the grilling. The beef has a solid seasoning base and a nice sear with just enough char to add flavor without becoming overly smoky. It's reasonably tender, though I wish it retained a bit more juiciness. Chicken Shish Kebab - 3.5/5. Very similar to the beef shish kebab. It has good flavor and is grilled well, but it could benefit from being a little juicier. Gyro - 2/5. Unfortunately, this was the biggest disappointment. The gyro meat on the vertical spit often appears to be rotating without enough heat to properly caramelize and crisp the exterior. As a result, the meat comes across as dry, rubbery, and lacking the rich roasted flavor that makes a great gyro. Kunafa (Knafeh) - 3/5. This dessert has both strengths and weaknesses. The cheese filling has a pleasant, slightly salty flavor and a creamy texture, and I appreciate that it isn't overly sweet. However, the syrup is underwhelming. A good kunafa should be generously coated with a fragrant sugar syrup - ideally infused with rose water or orange blossom water - to provide sweetness and aroma. I also wish the kataifi, the shredded pastry dough, were crispier and lighter to create a better contrast with the gooey cheese filling. Overall, Al Hamra Kabob Grill is one of the better places to enjoy Middle Eastern-style grilled dishes in the South Bay. While a few menu items could be improved, the grilled fish stands out as excellent, and the shish kebabs are solid choices. The owner is also incredibly friendly and welcoming, creating a warm, neighborhood atmosphere that keeps customers coming back. It's not perfect, but it's a restaurant I enjoy visiting from time to time and one I'd recommend if you're craving grilled Middle Eastern flavors.
