Extremely disappointing and overpriced! I ordered the Combo 8, Koobideh, and a side of Tahdig with Gheimeh. Overall, it was a terrible experience: Pricing Overcharge: The Tahdig with Gheimeh was listed as $6.99 on the menu, but I was charged $13.99! To make matters worse, the Gheimeh was literally just split peas and tomato paste--not a single piece of meat in it. Poor Food Quality: The Chenjeh was incredibly tough and chewy, while the Joojeh was way too spicy/peppery. As for the Koobideh, it ended up giving me a severe stomach ache. I ended up paying around $100 for just 3 portions of food. It is honestly mind-boggling how we are expected to pay such exorbitant prices for such low-quality food these days. Disappointing Customer Service I've been coming to Fanoos Grill for their lunch special and really enjoy the food. Unfortunately, today's experience with the cashier was extremely disappointing. I called ahead, placed my order, picked it up, and decided to eat inside. As I was about to sit at a small table, the cashier told me I needed to eat outside because it was "rush hour." I was confused because there were several tables available, I was eating alone, and it was extremely hot outside. He eventually said I could sit inside, but by that point I felt uncomfortable and unwelcome. I kept looking around didn't see more people come in to dine in so there was enough tables ! I understand restaurants get busy, but the way this was handled was unnecessary and could have been communicated respectfully. This is, hands-down, my fav Persian restaurant in the S. Bay. They have a brand-new website that makes ordering easy (and I LOVE all the possible substitutions & choices they offer online!!) We do a combination of dine-in & take-out. The staff is always helpful in explaining options. Some reviewers have complained about buying bottled water. This is a small business guys. I personally always order tea. The lentil soup is always made fresh so sometimes I wait 25min but it's well worth the wait. Fanoos continued to be one of our favorite Persian/Middle Eastern restaurant in the area. We have been getting more family meals to go recently and decided to come back in for a change. They still have the huge menu with lots of great pictures, and from what we can tell, prices haven't changed since pre-pandemic! The food was delicious as always, of course better eat freshly at the restaurant, portions were huge, and basically enough for another meal. It was lamb day for us, we had lamb Shish kebab and lamb shanks. Both were excellent. Amir was friendly, prompt, and in charge. The seating area was clean. A couple of things slightly disappointing 1. They are out of Lamb Shish kebab for a while, waiting for shipment from Australia or New Zealand 2. Then I got the prime sirloin kabob? With barberries rice. This rice is my fave!!!!! the salad and roasted veggies it came with felt super balanced and healthy. BEST PERSIAN FOOD outside of Westwood. I always order kashke bademjan (baked eggplant dip with mint and onion) as an appetizer. PRO-TIP: ask for a raw onion. Use the onion slices like a "chip" to scoop up the "dip". Our friendly host calls it "true Persian style". You won't regret it!! If you have a large party, order a Persian appetizer plate (includes khaske as well as pickles, cutlet, grape leaves)--warning, quite filling. Shirazi salad is very refreshing. Many entrees to choose from. I love chicken Koobideh with rice and salad. Also chicken kabob or soltani (kabob and koobideh). All these options also available in beef. I also love lamb shank (succulent!) with your choice of seasoned rice (Adas polo, Baghali polo, albalo polo)--you simply must try all of these rice options. Not sure how this place managed a 4 star 736 reviews. Walked in to an empty restaurant on a Saturday evening and picked up the menu card. Food was slightly pricy but looked delicious. I ordered combo# 5 for $34.99, only to be told that price has increased to $36.99. I asked the person taking orders to respect the menu price but he rudely declined. It came to $40.12 with taxes. As you may have anticipated, their credit card is not working but they have boldly advertised Zelle or Venmo links. They took the full price in cash (saving 3% in credit card transaction and may be tax). We waited for almost 25 minutes and got our food. I asked for garlic sauce and was stated that persian restaurants don't serve garlic sauce, instead they provide a yogurt based sauce. Also, there was no hot sauce. When we ate, the beef and lamb chops were super chewy. The chicken was bland. The rice did not have any flavor other than some yellow rice sprinkled over. Never going back for such substandard food that you have pay thru cash added with a rude server. Try King Mediterrano or Jons grocery for much better food. read more

I ate here on a Sunday afternoon and service took a while. They might've been short staffed that day. However, the food was well worth the wait. I ordered a Combo #1 (Beef Koobideh, Chicken Koobideh, Rice, Salad, Pepper, etc) and a small Olivieh salad as an appetizer. In hindsight, this was too much food for a single person. The olivieh salad comes with warm pita. In short, it was a very good potato salad. The pickles here are different than the generic pickles that I am used to. It felt very fresh. The combo meal was very carb heavy and very filling. The rice was buttery and flavorful. I am not entirely sure what the orange sauce was, but it tasted similar to thousand island dressing. The combo meal also came with more pita, which is always a pleasure. The pepper (jalapeno?) was packing some heat. I also really like how the tomato was grilled. It does elevate it to a new level. For both koobidehs, the texture of the meat was very satisfying. It was my first time having this style of kebab. I've only had kofta style kebabs in the past and I have to say that I like koobideh kebabs better. Give it a shot if you haven't tried it before. The leftovers warmed up nicely for dinner too! One word... Disappointing. Went in with high hopes given the reviews and it seemed like a cute hole in the wall joint. It all went downhill from there. Service: Very poor. Waited over 30-40 minutes for the entrees to come out even though we were only the 2nd table there when we arrived. We had 4 adults and a toddler and had to wait that long with no water since apparently they stopped providing water since covid. Looks like they prioritize to go orders over dine in. To add insult to injury, they even charged us an 18% automatic service fee... and $1 for a little dinky condiment container of salad dressing to go. The beef wrap tasted like a hamburger, my favorite was definitely the Chicken Shish Kabob wrap very flavorful soft chicken very tasty! They give you a sauce and I had a bit on my wrap which was very good.
