super juicy Chicken Koobideh with grilled tomato + jalapeno & double salad (I asked for no rice). oh & don't forget the lentil SOUP!!! :D

This is, hands-down, my fav Persian restaurant in the S. Bay. They have a brand-new website that makes ordering easy (and I LOVE all the possible substitutions & choices they offer online!!) We do a combination of dine-in & take-out. The staff is always helpful in explaining options. Some reviewers have complained about buying bottled water. This is a small business guys. I personally always order tea. The lentil soup is always made fresh so sometimes I wait 25min but it's well worth the wait. The below pic is a to-go order of my fav super juicy Chicken Koobideh & of course, lentil soup :).

PLACE LOOKS SKETCH BUT IS FRESH I walked in and was underwhelmed in my visit. The credit card machine was down, the soda machine was down, there wasn't any music and the place was bare. The whole plaza is basically cash only. BUT I ordered the family meal deal that feeds about 4 for around 50 bucks. Comes with chicken koobideh, chicken kabob, beef koobideh, a salad and a ton of rice/ bread/ peppers. Again, it doesn't look like much but it tastes great. The salad was plain, but the dressing is tangy and tinged with a lemon flavor. The meat, was all super tender. I know it's Persian but man it tasted like some really good taco meats.

Another 10/10 visit to Fanoos Grill! We have our favorites here, but our server helped us make great decisions on what to try since they happened to be out of beef shish on this day. No worries...these were delicious alternatives!

Fanoos continued to be one of our favorite Persian/Middle Eastern restaurant in the area. We have been getting more family meals to go recently and decided to come back in for a change. They still have the huge menu with lots of great pictures, and from what we can tell, prices haven't changed since pre-pandemic! The food was delicious as always, of course better eat freshly at the restaurant, portions were huge, and basically enough for another meal. It was lamb day for us, we had lamb Shish kebab and lamb shanks. Both were excellent. Amir was friendly, prompt, and in charge. The seating area was clean. A couple of things slightly disappointing 1. They are out of Lamb Shish kebab for a while, waiting for shipment from Australia or New Zealand 2. The health inspection dropped from A to B, I hope they get back quickly! Tips: they no loner accept credit card, but give a 3% discount off menu price for cash, Venmo, and Zelle.

    Boneless Chicken Kabob Lunch Special

This was my first time at Fanoos Grill, and I came for their lunch special with a friend. The specials run Monday through Friday from 11 AM to 3 PM and include basmati rice topped with saffron, a charbroiled tomato, a jalapeño, and a garden salad. We ordered the Chicken Koobideh ($11.99) and the Boneless Chicken Kebab ($12.99). The chicken was well-seasoned and had good flavor, though the charbroiled tomato was slightly overcooked. I noticed the waiter took time to explain the menu and drink options to other first-time guests, but we didn't get the same introduction. Because of that, I was caught off guard when we had to purchase bottled water for $1.59, as I wasn't aware they didn't offer complimentary water. Having to buy bottled water at a sit-down restaurant felt a little unusual. Overall, the meal was enjoyable, but I was a little surprised that they did not offer complimentary water.

Omg food was amazing.. it was delicious. My sissy and I came here for lunch before we did some shopping. The restaurant is located in a strip mall with other restaurants and a movie theater. The staff were very friendly and answered any questions we had. Lots of family and groups of friends gather here to eat and just gives that chill vibe.

Yesterday we had lunch here for the 1st time. Small restaurant with very nice service. I ordered chicken kabob and my wife had the ground chicken dish, I don't know how to spell it or what it's called so I won't butcher the name. Large chunks of chicken juice on the inside and nicely charred on the outside. Very pleased with overall taste. It will be a must return for us.

Top Sirloin Beef Shish Lunch Special

Definitely helped fill my craving for Persian food. I looove the different flavored rices. Got the lamb shank and Lima bean rice. I only had a little bit of shank since my husband devoured most of it before I got home ;( what I could taste had wonderful flavor and such tenderness. The rice was a lil mushy for the Lima beans. Then I got the prime sirloin kabob? With barberries rice. This rice is my fave!!!!! the salad and roasted veggies it came with felt super balanced and healthy. I definitely want to come back to try more. If you're curious I think it's worth a try. Service was easy but I ordered in advance over the phone. It's a sit and eat and go type place. A little small on seating but I saw families eating here which definitely felt so wholesome and a place that's good. They take card! Just fyi some places are cash only but they take card.

I ordered the barg kabob ($32 after tax), and the meat was old and had an unpleasant smell. It seemed like it had been grilled hours earlier and then reheated. It tasted nothing like authentic Persian barg. The meat even had a sour flavor due to too much lemon juice in the marinate. It didn't seem to be made from filet mignon. Instead, it tasted like too much yogurt had been used in the marinade to make the meat tender. It was very disappointing. I won't be wasting my money there again. I dropped by on a Saturday afternoon, where a few other patrons were already dining. The seating has around 6 or so tables inside that can fit around 4 each, and they also have high chairs for children! I ordered a number 17, which is the gyro, and got a side of hummus and pita then found a table to sit at. I had just finished buckling my child into the high chair when my order was delivered to my table! They are super fast here! The super friendly waiter delivered my meal, and I dug in. The gyro was stuffed with meat! This is a huge deal, since a lot of places skimp and don't give enough. So extra points to Al Hamra for a job well done. The flavor of the meat was juicy and well seasoned, super delish! The hummus and pita was good, although I usually add a bit of spices to my hummus so this one was a little plainer than I'm used to. Either way, it was a nice addition to the meal. The grand finale were the desserts! I usually go for baklava, but decided to try the knafeh, a layered cheese dessert with syrup and pistachios. Get the knafeh! The warm cheese and syrup were so delicious and made for the perfect ending to a good meal! I will definitely be back, the food was super tasty, and the people working there were friendly and helpful. Thanks for the happiness, Al Hamra!

Our group of four adults and two kids came in starving. I had the chicken kabob wrap, which was a perfect burrito-sized meal, while my husband enjoyed a beef and chicken kabob plate that fully satisfied his appetite. Honestly, the highlight for me was the warm pita served with garlic mayo, so much better than the cold or room-temperature pitas you often get at otherMediterranean spots. We also shared dessert, the kulfi cheesecake, and left completely stuffed. Al Hamra is a cozy family-run restaurant with just a few tables, but the food makes it well worth it. I'll definitely rotate between this spot and Chicken Maison for future visits.

Nestled in Riviera Village just a few blocks from the beach, Turquoise is the kind of neighborhood gem you hope never changes. This isn't your typical Greek takeout spot. Everything is made with premium ingredients, no seed oils, fragrant saffron, and an obvious passion for authentic Mediterranean cooking. We always start with their fresh-brewed green iced tea and hummus with crisp crudité. Their panini-pressed sandwiches are fantastic, and the house-made yogurt and chili sauces are so good you'll end up putting them on everything. And the lamb kebab? Hands down the best I've ever had, perfectly seasoned, incredibly tender, and something I crave long after we leave. What keeps us coming back, though, is Hameed, the owner. From the moment you walk in, he treats you like family. You can tell how deeply he cares about his guests, his staff, and every detail of the restaurant. That kind of genuine hospitality is rare these days, and it's a big part of what makes Turquoise so special. Whether you're looking for a date night, a relaxed family dinner, lunch after the beach, or a place where your dog is just as welcome as you are, Turquoise delivers every time. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, the restaurant is always spotless, and the service is consistently exceptional. As someone who loves discovering great food, I can honestly say Turquoise is one of the South Bay's hidden gems. Seven years later, it's still the first place we recommend to friends and the one we find ourselves coming back to again and again. Do yourself a favor and give it a try. I wanted to follow up my very short review that I wrote about this restaurant over a decade ago as I have continued to frequent this restaurant and I have always enjoyed their food. What they offer here is a really nice selection of Mediterranean-based cuisine. They always use the best ingredients, and the food always arrives with a great presentation. Mostly, the food here tastes very-very good. And, isn't that the right reason you actually go to a restaurant in the first place? This is a family-owned and operated business. From this, you can really tell that everybody who works here really cares about the restaurant and the customers. Thus, it's always a great dining experience. Their menu offers a really nice selection of everything from gyro's to kebabs onto salads and the like. There's a really nice choice of both entrées and side dishes for you to choose from. The one thing I will say about this establishment, and this is certainly not a criticism, but whenever you eat here, they always keep the food coming. Whether it is the pita chips, the pita bread, the whatever, when you leave here you are going to be very-very full. This restaurant is located just off of Hawthorne Boulevard and a block from PCH. Thus, it's very easy to find. In terms of parking they have a parking lot over to one side of the building. You could always find a spot there. They also have a number of spots on the street, in front of the restaurant. This is where I always prefer to park. Easy in, easy out.
