Amazing intermediate trail with easier ways to hike around, great for taking your dog or mountain biking would recommend anyone from beginner hikers to experienced ones.

Good park but they don't allow dogs! Booohoo. It's a park, not sure why they don't allow dogs. I heard they'll give you a warning if a ranger sees you. The park is a good size with baseball and soccer field. They also have outside hoops and indoors at a cost. There's a playground and a big picnic area. Lots of shade. Just wish they allow dogs.

    My baby loves this park!

We had our daughters first birthday here in the pack picnic area one and it was literally the perfect place. The back area is nice and shaded and even on a hot day it all worked out great. We also had a jumper and a few blankets and even a Teepee set up. If you want to have a big party but don't want to host it at your house this is a great alternative. Even though the park is nice we opted to get a jumper so the kids in our ward he could have more of a exclusive area to play. They had two grills we didn't use them because we brought our own and they were pretty dirty. We love coming to this park that's why I chose to do her birthday year overall great service and a huge clean nice area we had it for 6 hours and only paid around $160.

My cousins picked out a great spot for our family reunion. It was large, had plenty of parking, had bathrooms with toilet paper and seat covers available, baseball fields, playground, lots of grass, BBQs, garbages, covered picnic tables and surrounded by a good neighborhood. We didn't have sketchy strangers come around. It was housewives pushing strollers in their work out gear. Great spot! No dogs allowed. Too bad for my puppy dog.

Nice open clean neighborhood park. Always lots of friendly kids and happy parents watching their little kids throw sand in each others hair. They have a rec center with a full basketball court, tennis courts plenty of picnic spots and tables and Carlsbad throws concerts here every summer. Pretty lucky that its walking distance to my house.

If you haven't visited this is a beautiful park with an ocean view through the outfield. Carlsbad Seabreeze softball tournament is held here and the snack bar is great! Good job CSA!

Ask the Community - Calavera Community Park

    Are dogs allowed?

I've seen folks with dogs there, but I'm not sure I've even permission signs posted like there are at others in the area. It could just be something that the community is fine with so long as they're properly leashes and owners clean up the messes.… Read more

This event was well received by the community...more than 30 people (mixed age groups) showed up to volunteer. It was AWESOME!! This beauuutiful 42-acre park contains the largest public tennis complex in the city (10 tennis courts and 6 pickleball courts), basketball court, baseball/softball fields, a multi-sport turf arena, alongside a modern playground, designated dog park area, and shaded picnic areas. Major pluses are restrooms, drinking fountains, and free parking. I definitely recommend this green space and family-friendly park to the Yelp Community :-)

The few times I've been here has been enjoyable and everyone (including dogs) have been very amicable. The dog park is very well kept and like how they have some little obstacles courses for the dogs. The pickleball courts are also very nice but there are some areas that have been worn out, mostly behind the baseline. But nice seating area and efficient paddle system to rotate people in and out. I only wish it was closer to me.

I will say, however, that this place is so big that you can very easily lose track of your kids. There were a few times on our last visit where I was scanning the playground for a minute or two trying to find one of my kids after looking after another one for a bit. But don't worry. There really is only one in and out so you don't have to worry about kids wandering off if you are around that bottleneck point. This is a great attraction that I hope the park never gets rid of. It offers kids a space to run around & just goof off and be kids while also blowing off steam. The only point of improvement I can think of if maybe offer some more (shaded) seating for parents. On hot days that would be greatly appreciated.

He remembered it very well from our past visits. It is a second story playground and it is big enough for adults to shadow your littles if needed. On this day it looked as though an employee was monitoring at the top. I'm not sure if it was because it was near closing time or they are there for the safety of the little ones. There is a short wall that you could sit on to watch your kids from afar, This grand playground is great for the kids to burn some energy that's for sure! The kids have fun running place to place it makes me want to join them. If you haven't visit this playground it is a must. P.S. Grab some Apple Fries beforehand from the stand adjacent to the playground. Great snacking as you watch the play.
