Hipster vibe in Hollister! V. Cool pink decor. Local products in the fridge along with some nice merchandise. Food: Jam toast was delicious ... raspberry jam. Also have avocado toast and breakfast sandwich. And pastries. If you want to eat, get here before 1. Service: Super friendly baristas who made a delicious cappuccino and a latte. Great coffee foam art too! The coffee alone is a reason to come. Don't miss this cute place!

I made the drive down to Hollister to check this coffee shop and it did not disappoint. Beyond a scenic green mountain drive from all the rain we found our coffee shop after making a double circle around the parking lot. I looked for signage at the top of the building but because of their recent move I assume they haven't gotten to it. As you walk in you notice the bright pink and white wals, cabinets with so many vinyls, plants, and local small business stuff like soaps and coffee shop merchandise. We were welcomed in and the barista (MIA) was so friendly. We chatted up Coffee recommendations, local spots, etc. She recommended drinks for our next visit like the Villan. I ordered a hot latte and a hot chocolate for my kiddo. I usually take my coffee to go but decided to sit and enjoy the vibe at the coffee shop. There's plenty of sitting and a couple spots outside the shop. My latte was good. Coffee was strong. The temperature of the coffee was also good. My kiddo enjoyed his hot chocolate! After enjoying our drinks we picked out a shirt for my kiddo and one for me. We also grabbed a couple stickers and we were on our way. I enjoyed the overall experience. The customer service was great. The shop has a nice vibe and a beautiful set up. There's a record player in the corner keeping the place filled with music. Spacious place for groups. Clean bathrooms stocked up with sanitary products for the ladies! I enjoyed my visit and look forward to returning. This definitely could be my everyday coffee shop if only I was closer!
Was in Hollister for a wedding event (which was a bender), thus we needed coffee on Sunday morning. Found Calavera through Yelp, decided to give it a shot. First impression - it's hard to find! It's in a strip mall with an Ace Hardware and a McDonald's....but because they've recently moved, there is NO obvious signage, and the map location is two doors wrong. Nevertheless, parking in front of the old location has a handwritten sign pointing you to the new location. I had both an espresso shot and one of their "Villains". Shot was well presented, taste was complex and finish was clean. A sign of good coffee, thoughtfully roasted, well-dosed and drawn. The Villian (my first ever, obviously) is much sweeter than I had imagined. Too sweet for my wife, who asked for a "half sweet" version instead. When the rest of our bedraggled party finally arrived (all visiting from out of state for the wedding), they found their matcha latte different than they were expecting (consistency appeared to be as thick as green pea soup), but black coffee was very good. Also, dug the selection of pastries and other food. Bonus, they are big advocates of vinyl (records), ambient music is from a turntable and they sell new released vinyl in the corner, as well as roasted coffee beans and a little swag. Next time I'm back in Hollister, I'll be back...but if I order their popular Villian, it will be half-as-sweet (or less) than their default.
Super cute and chill coffee spot for morning coffee. The worker was extremely friendly and seemed to know the regulars, which is always a nice feel. Since it was my first time here, the worker gave me some recommendations, which I really appreciate! Would definitely stop by again when I'm in the area.
Calavera Coffee is one my favorite coffee spots and I DONT EVEN LIKE COFFEE! When you walk in, they have vinyl playing on a record player and have the record displayed so you know what you are listening to. the staff is welcoming and always have the best recommendations for music or cofffee. My go to drink is The Villain, which is inspired by MF Doom. It is a latte with house made sauce, cinnamon and coconut! If you want to enjoy coffee and listen to some good music, Calavera Coffee is the spot!
Really cute place in minimall setting. Busy here this morning. Vanilla latte for airport lady, honey and Americano for me. This location about 5 miles from Jet Center. Everything just right here. Back here again the following day. Kind ladies gifted me 2 additional expresso shots. Nice.
My absolute fav coffee place in town. I love their pink decor, touch of fresh flowers/plants. Everyone is super friendly and welcoming. I love that I can also order online and pick up when I get there, sadly only during the week, but I'll take it!
I am craving this place all day every day! I can't stop talking about it! I need it by me! Staff is always so kind and quick with getting drinks out! They have done such a great job with this place, any time I post people ask me where this is! A hollister GEM! Ambiance unmatched! My go to is an iced villan with oat milk! Love they have any option to buy premade so this Santa Clara girl can take them home
One of the best coffees I've had in a long time! I loved The Villain-- a latte with home caramel syrup and cinnamon, I got it half sweet and it was perfect! I also tried the spinach and feta pastry and the guava pastry and both were delicious. Love the pink aesthetic and great music too. Overall 10/10 loved!
Was passing through Hollister and stopped in to grab an early morning coffee before hitting the nearby offroad park. It's a tiny shop in a strip mall next to an Ace Hardware - blink and you just might miss it. I knew I had found the right place when I walked in and am welcomed by the familiar blue bags of Cat & Cloud (one of my favorite roasters). I was also given a big greeting from the young women baristas. This is the kind of shop that local regulars frequent (they knew the customers that came in after me by their names) so they chatted me up while they made my drink and were super friendly. Hollister is basically a coffee wasteland in the middle of a farming community, so the fact that I could get a quality latte with some of my favorite espresso super early in the morning as I was passing through was a major plus for me. As I plan on returning again to offroad at the SVRA nearby, I'll definitely stop in again. Hopefully next time I come by they have a restroom open for customer use and some vegan breakfast options :)
Best coffee within a 30-mile radius. Cool owners and staff are polite and friendly. I appreciate the great coffee esp the gibraltar, cap, lattes, etc. They know how to pull their shots and brew their drip. They curate a good selection of coffee beans to purchase i.e. Vertigo (local), Cat & Cloud (Santa cruz), Onyx (Arkansas). They rotate out the selection quarterly. They offer pastries, avocado toast, vinyl records, merch, candles, teas, and much more to purchase. 4 tables to study and converse. You also order ahead. Support your local shops.
My sister recommended we stop here for coffee and let me tell you, 10/10 on recommendation! It was easy to find and has cute outdoor pink stools to sit on. Upon entering, we were helped immediately. We asked what their top rated coffee was and they said the Villain. Let me tell you, *chef's kiss.* Our coffee was ready fast and the ambience was super relaxing with the plants. They also sell mugs, candles, and soaps + clothing gear. My new place to go to at Hollister!

I was pleasantly surprised by this coffee shop. I was looking for a local coffee shop while visiting family. I narrowed it down to three options, and this one won. Plenty of parking in the lot, and had aesthetic vibes. The menu was short and had a fair selection. I ordered the a cappuccino with villain sauce. My cap was perfectly made, and the villain sauce was delicious. Staff was very knowledgeable and friendly. Would definitely return here over DB. Yelp 2024 Challenge: 25/30 read more
I've visiting Calaveras Coffee twice, both en route to Pinnacles & loved it! Their seasonal coffees are always great, the staff is nice, & the inside is super cute. I highly recommend their "Lil Punk" coffee, it was one of the best fall drinks I've had this year. The Elixir was also really good but I'd give it like an 8.5/10 while the Lil Punk was like 9.5/10. read more

Finally was able to visit while down in Hollister for a moto race. Everything about this shop was so cute. The vinyl playing thru the . The super sweet staff . The shop merch . I got the Villain which had "house sauce" pretty sweet, but good. Would probably opt for half sweet next time or just my go to vanilla latte. They also have a few different breakfast snack options that I'd love to try next time I have more time on my hands. Cute local made merch in store too! read more

Was just there 15 minutes ago and went straight to Yelp to give them a 5 star! The shop itself has the coolest vibe. Halloween is my favorite holiday so a calavera/skull vibe is right up my alley. Aesthetic wall paintings and color with just the right amount of decor. They are playing music but using a record player for that deep rich vinyl sound that I love. Also not playing that generic coffee shop music but Lo-Fi! YES! I got the mocha x-tra hot and while it wasn't as hot as I would have liked it the flavor is all there. Some places have their chocolate flavor overpowering the coffee taste but not Calavera Coffee! Now lastly, the cherry on top of our great experience this morning... the customer service! The staff was very friendly and genuine in their interactions. Working in food service I know that some people have their normal face and their customer service face (hides the fact that they hate being there) but at this shop the whole staff looks genuinely happy to be there and proud of their product. We live in Gilroy but will be making a point to stop here on our weekends in Hollister. Great job Calavera Coffee! read more

I always meet my friends there for coffee. I love their coffee and the fresh delicious pastries. My favorite are their seasonal drinks and their almond croissant. Most of all, the staffs there are super friendly. Go to Calavera Coffee, you won't regret it! read more

My "go to" whenever I'm in Hollister. I am a Villain addict, and if I'm hungry...the spinach feta croissant! Slurp!!! I've tried their grab n go cups w fruit and conchas. Im never disappointed w their treats. Super cute cafe and the best baristas. Super nice and always greet you with a smile. Don't waste your time going to the competitor just because they have a drive thru...you'll be sorry if ya pass this gem. read more

I went here twice during my short getaway to the Pinnacles under a friend's high recommendations on coffee. And yes they do have good coffee. I'm normally a basic espresso shot or Americano person but ended up trying the cardamom latte and we as blown away. All lactose intolerant people should rejoice as it seems the norm for coffee shops to have alternative milks like almond and oat now. I had my latte with oat and it blew me away. The cardamom added a nice spicy punch and was very unique to other lattes I've had. Would recommend if you like bold and spicy. My second drink was an iced diablo. I'm trying to cut down sugar so I asked for it to be less sweet but that was my fault because the drink ended up being bland. It was like an interesting coffee but nothing to come back for. I'd recommend getting the drink unmodified as they know what they're doing and if you're going to get a coffee with interesting flavors, might as well enjoy it. I'll be back whenever I'm in the area. Staff were wonderful and there's plenty of seating inside. read more

Such a cute little cafe. We stopped in on our way back from Pinnacles and so glad we did. Super friendly employees, COVID safe and the best iced dirty chai we've ever had! Starbucks is right across the street and can't imagine why anyone would go there when Calavera Coffee is superior in so many ways!! #supportsmallbusiness #coffeelover read more

Great coffee shop with delicious coffee. There are no outlets available so not a place for working. The matcha tasted like it was good quality and the coffee had a great taste. It was not over roasted and perfect. Gave it a 4 because it's a bit expensive it was $6 for a medium matcha and $1 extra for an alternative milk. But will be returning. read more
