I have used this service before because it is close to my location and convenient. The first time I used them was in 2015. They arrived late to pick up a rush order. I remember I had to make serveral calls back and forth to the people who were picking up my order. I let that go because I needed the job done. The process server did get the job done on time. But the people who picked up the order were late and said they got lost. They should not have gotten lost. I am in a known location in downtown LA.
I used this service again a few months ago. I created an online account. I needed to get someone served. That went relatively smoothly.
Then today I called to get another job done. I had to get a police officer served. I called early in the morning, probably before they opened. No one called me back. I found that to be a little rude. I called again and spoke to someone named Irene. Irene told me that I did not have an account. I found that strange, since I had opened an account just a few months ago. I explained that to Irene.
I had to call Irene back because she was busy the first time we spoke. When I called back, she placed me on hold. She said she was sending me an e-mail message which explained how to set up a new account. I started to do something else, while I was on hold. She came back to the phone and I could hear her speaking to me very rapidly. I asked her to please slow down and give me a moment to finish what I was doing. I explained that I had put the phone down while I was on hold, and that I had started to do something else. I asked her to please just give me a minute to get back to my phone. Before I could finish what I was saying, Irene interupted me and said she was transfering me to Alice to set up a new account.
Alice came on the phone and said that I already did have an account. And, that she could not create a new account for an existing account holder.
Clearly, it does not present well when different people from a small business are telling a customer contradictory things. It also did not look good that Irene could not find my account in their system, particularly since it was a fairly new account.
It should be noted that by the time I spoke to Alice and she found my account, several hours had passed. It was already in the middle of the day. Yet I had called early in the morning to place an order for a routine service.
In any event, from the moment Alice got on the phone, she continually interrupted me. It was making me nervous, and I told her so. I explained that the same thing had happened with Irene. I understand that people are fast paced, and busy, and want to get things done quickly. But it is not productive if we speak over one another. I wanted her to let me finish my questions before she interrupted and answered them. I asked her, more than once, to give me a moment. To let me catch my breath.
Alice responded that they did not want my business. So, this company blows off a paying customer, because I asked them to slow down while we were talking. Because I asked them to be a little patient.
I did not write them off when there were late picking things up back in 2015. I was understanding when Irene told me that she could not find my account, and then, later, when Alice told me that I do have an existing account. I did not write them off because someone screwed up and could not find my account. I understand that people make mistakes. Nor did I write them off when they did not call me back earlier this morning. Or because I had to call them back several times, and it was already late in the afternoon when I finally spoke to someone.
But they wrote me off because I honestly told Alice she was making me nervous, and asked her to talk a little more slowly.
I am astounded by the way I was treated. I don't know how these people stay in business. read more
