We heard about this place from a friend and wanted to check it out. So we ordered a single layer 1/2 sheet Tres Leches cake with peach filling and some custom decorations. All together the price was about $105. I contacted them via IG and told them that we wanted a Halloween themed cake. They informed me that as it was a Tres Leches, decorating it would be little difficult but they will try. Then I placed my order from their website and the process was very easy. If you are new to the pan dulce game (Mexican sweet bread) then you need to know a few things. Some breads are soft and moist and some are not. That's because they are for dipping in your hot chocolate or coffee in the morning. Now to the review. I came in on a Sunday morning. I had seen a post on face book they had opened up a new bakery. the girl over the counter was really nice. No one was inside quiet. smelled good! Like a panadería! First one I see in Riverton, south jordan and Draper. I was happy to see one opened up over here. They had a small variety (sorry forgot to take pictures) the worker mentioned they are slow on Sunday's. Possibly why they only have a small variety. I've seen pictures with a lot more so next time I'll come on a weekday. I got 1 cuerno and one oreja (palmier). The cuerno is a little dryer (remember for dipping) and it had good cinnamon flavor. The oreja was nice a flakey. I liked how it wasn't too sweet either. Was it life changing pan dulce best I've had? No but it's good pan dulce. The flavors are good. If you want to have something different for tea or coffee in the morning get pan dulce. They also make cakes which I may try in the future. read more

This is by far the best bakery in the valley. It has been my go to Pan Dulce spot since I moved to Utah and visited there Taylorsville location for years. My daughter had a very specific classic cake design she wanted for her 16th bday.. when went to pick up the cake, they had lost the photo of what it looked like so the cake hadn't been decorated yet. So far, this is the highlight of my 2022 foodie adventures!!!! Hurry and get yourself to Cakes By Edith! First of all, I'm always in search of the best Panaderia around. Pan dulces is the thing that speaks to my foodie soul. Non sweet bread with sweet icing. The perfect balance, not too sweet, not an oversized dinner roll. Lol. My problem is that most Panaderia's, like Bakery's, close pretty early and I usually can't get to them in time. But Cakes by Edith is open until 8pm every weekday! I know. Their Riverton location is pretty new (like it still has the new bakery smell ) and, from the looks of it, they have a pretty huge bakery in the back. The best part is that I went in the late afternoon the pastry cases were like 87% full! That's basically unheard of! Now, I am a very white woman who loves anything ethnic and loves exploring new cultures. I think sometimes I get nervous going into any really authentically ethnic restaurant, bakery, or grocer because I don't know the language, and I don't really know what I'm doing, and I don't know what to get, and I get worried I'll be judged. I know that's all in my head, but still. It's also not lost on me that literally everyone who's not white in America probably feels that way most days. Anyway, I say this because the gentleman who helped me was so friendly and conversational. He took the time to answer my questions, explain to me what each item was that I pointed to, and even made suggestions. He was so encouraging and told me to come back soon. He made me feel so welcome! Now, to the really important part, the treats! Okay, the Concha was probably the best Concha I've ever had. Soft, airy, with a good crumb, and perfectly glazed icing. I also got a dulce de Leche Cake Roll thing, and the cake was slightly more dense than cake, but not as dense as pound cake/bread, it was perfect! And I'm not actually a fan of coconut, but it complimented the dulce de leche really well, helped make it not too sweet. I also got a pastry filled with pineapple filling and sprinkled with turbinado sugar. Pineapple is my favorite fruit, but I was worried the filling would be fake tasting. But it was so good! The right amount of acidity to make the pastry not overly sweet. But for me, I think the surprise was the gentleman's suggestion of the custard filled pastry... I don't know if it's something I'd normally choose. But it was crazy yummy, flakey, not too sweet, pudding consistency custard, a little crunch and sweetness from the turbinado sugar, it was just beyond delicious! I would really like to order a cake here and see how great it is. There was a woman ordering a cake while I was in there and they seemed really accommodating. The woman was texting them pictures at their request and they were realistically portraying what they would and wouldn't be able to do. Basically, you MUST give this place a try! I would give this place ZERO stars. I went to pick up a cake today I ordered. We asked if they added edible glitter and Alma quickly opened the box and sprayed a few times only at the top of the cake. When she handed it to us, we opened the box to see how it looked and noticed right away the flower decorations and the entire side of the cake was smooshed. The wording on the cake was an ugly orange color while the roses were a a hot pink. They didn't even try to match the lettering to the decor. It did not look good at all. I mentioned it to the girl at the counter and she was so kind and said that they could fix the damage. I politely asked if she was sure bc I realized it was closing time and that it may be the box that's the issue. She said it was no problem and that they could fix it right away. Then Alma yelled from the back asking what the problem was and she rushed over with an attitude. She said she wasn't fixing anything and accused us of damaging the cake. And that she will not be helping us at all bc it's closing time. She was so angry and boasted she was the owner. She was incredibly rude. Really good. I was excited to see a local bakery in Riverton. I took my kids in and was able to find a lot of options for them. We walked out with some donuts, turnovers, and some amazing churros. I wanted to order the perfect number cake for my daughters 20th birthday. I reached out via FB messenger, sent a picture of my daughter's 19 birthday cake and asked if they could do similar with a 20. I was sent multiple examples and was in. I physically went into the store to place my order. I asked for chocolate dipped strawberries, grapes and Oreos (like we previously had and liked) as well as flowers similar to before. Pink and gold accents with buttercream frosting. I made a point to tell them my daughter does not like whipping cream frosting. We picked the cake up Saturday night at 5:30pm right before they closed. Her birthday was Sunday. I wasn't thrilled with the decorations as there were no flowers and the Oreos and grapes were not dipped. Nonetheless I didn't think much was change at that point and figured whatever it will work. The next day we sing and cut the cake. The cake was decorated with whipping cream and not buttercream. Very disappointing as my daughter didn't want to eat her own cake. We went into the store today to explain our disappointments with the cake. Did not come in asking for anything. We were met with no understanding an attitude. She said "I delivered a beautiful cake" and that was pretty much end of story, too bad that it had the incorrect frosting and not as I had asked. No apology or anything. I let her know I would be writing a review again met with you got "a beautiful cake"....just not what I ordered.
