Cake Café!! What a gem in North Berwick!
You've been out and about, enjoyed a good walk on the beach and a visit to the Seabird centre, and then you head to this pretty wee street, North Berwick's main street, with all their shops, bakeries, gift and charity shops, and there it is: big glass windows, creamy painted frame, high ceiling, about 8 tables inside.
I have a sweet tooth, so the cake is always part of my order! Last time I tried their carrot cake, and oh my, it must have been the best one I tried in my 9 years of living in the UK! Home-made, juicy and soft, with the cream on top, you can see the raisins in the photo... Heaven, I'm telling you!
Other options were chocolate brownie, something with mint, shortbread biscuits, muffins, all Home-made!
My friend tried out the soup of the day, lentils, which comes with excellent bread! They used to buy it from the Manna house in Edinburgh, but I'm not so sure anymore. That was the way it was advertised around 3 years or so ago, when I first entered this place!
Our coffees were also great!
Probably not for the visitors, but there's a takeaway lunch bag, combining soups and cakes I think.
The waitress was quite fast in serving us and friendly. There is also a wee child-play area on the right of this place, and they provide toddler seats!
Oh, and they have Wifi, for the busy bees out there (by the way, O2 does not have 3G coverage in North Berwick so make sure you keep a note of this address before going there :) )
Enjoy!!! read more
