Drift opened a wee while ago just off the road leading to North Berwick, but it's taken me up until now to pay a visit. It is evidently popular, as we arrived just after opening time and the place was almost full,
The menu is a little limited, with just a couple of artisan-style coffees on offer, as well as tea and hot chocolate. There is also a small breakfast/lunch menu available too. I had the French toast and it was pretty good, but a little dry, and was more simply "toast" as it lacked powdered sugar and syrup like French toast typically has. To drink I had a latte which was what you would expect for this sort of establishment in terms of quality and taste.
I liked the whole concept and style of the cafe with the aesthetic of it being built into old shipping containers, but I don't feel like it really lived up to the good reports I'd heard from family and friends. It is a good coffee shop, but it wasn't really what I was expecting, and I wouldn't really say it's worth trekking all the way out just to go to when there are perfectly good cafes within North Berwick itself such as Steampunk. read more
