I enjoy trying new places, new adventures and my friend has parking karma and found street parking around the corner. This restaurant is located next to Miharu Ice Cream on Telegraph and William Street in Uptown Oakland. My friends and I walked in and liked the bright decor and cozy booth that we were seated in. The server was friendly and attentive and we took our time deciding what to order to share. We ordered fried clams with garlic fries, creamy shrimp noodle, crabcakes, a bag of mussels and crawfish, chicken wings with soy garlic sauce and a side of 50/50, peach lemonade, mango lemonade and strawberry lemonade which wasn't too sweet. We were given bibs and gloves and had a blast eating with our fingers for the shellfish. My favorites were the tasty crabcakes and mussels. Hello Oakland, For a Cajun restaurant, I believe the food is a bit too sweet! I ordered a mild bag of half lbs shrimp, corn, potatoes, eggs and noodles with a side of rice. The Raspberry lemonade is definitely top tier. The pricing is great and typical for a restaurant like this. (Coming from an ex cook of Boiling Crab Sacramento) the worker was very sweet and made us feel comfortable! Friend said he ordered a Cajun fried shrimp and got more of a coconut shrimp basket. However, the service was super friendly and attentive, and they even gave us complimentary fries for the wait, which we really appreciated. I'm giving them 4 stars for because of the long wait, but I'll definitely be coming back. Chat, the shrimp was cooked. We ordered 2 pounds of head-on shrimp. What arrived was a bag of headless shrimp accompanied by their severed heads. If this was meant to be, it wasn't very amusing. The shrimp were small, mushy, and severely overcooked. They no longer resembled or tasted like shrimp. Any semblance of shrimp had long dissipated by the time it reached our table. The texture was less seafood and more like forensic evidence. Whatever journey these shrimp had taken before arriving in front of us, it was clear they had suffered enough. And then came the Cajun seasoning. Cajun food is supposed to be rustic, hearty, and bold. Here, the flavors were mild, yet aggressive enough that they seemed less like seasoning and more like an attempt to distract from what was happening underneath. The shrimp were buried beneath spices and color, but no amount of Cajun seasoning could ever resurrect them. A bold move by Cajun Claws. A bold practice. The fried food wasn't much better. Everything came out unusually dark. Perhaps that's simply Cajun Claw's interpretation of Cajun, or perhaps something else. I can't say, and after this meal, I wasn't particularly interested in investigating further. Overall, I can't say I'm impressed. The shrimp aren't impressed either. They gave up their mind, body, and spirit to be prepared in such a poor fashion. What was once shrimp became something closer to a cautionary tale. The shrimp have suffered enough. I visited Cajun Claws in Oakland, CA [1951 Telegraph Ave] on Saturday, 03/28/26, around 7 PM. I was honored to come to this restaurant during the soft opening. For dinner, I ordered the "Boil Your Catch" option, which allowed me to customize a seafood boil bag. I got the 1lb of shrimp peeled off with the 50/50 sauce (garlic butter sauce + cajun sauce), medium as the spicy level ("Cajun Current"), sausage, potatoes, and corn. I must say that the sauce was extremely flavorful and complemented all of the fixings of the bag. My taste buds were dancing and I was completely satisfied with the overall taste. The service met expectations. I had the pleasure of being served by Dipesh. Dipesh was super attentive, sweet, and kind. I loved his friendly disposition and hospitality, which enhanced the entire dining experience even more! I was able to take a photo with him, too! The indoor ambiance was beautiful. I loved the spectacular decorations. The inside just had a modern take and it was just so inviting in general. Uptown, just a block up from Fox Theatre has a new place to eat in what used to be Roam Burgers and a Nashville Style Chicken Restaurant. Cajun Clams specializes in seafood. My review is based on my lunch order of the Shrimp Po' Boy sandwich. The sandwich, which comes with a choice of fries (regular, Cajun style, and shrimp style). I had the Cajun style fries and they pretty much tasted bland like salty fries. They weren't bad but I would have expected a stronger Cajun flavor (3/5). The Shrimp Po' Sandwich on the other hand was very good. The fried shrimps were lightly battered and they were decent sized shrimps. (5/5). This place is new and as you can see has a nice fresh looking interior. Service is reliable and friendly. Look forward to coming here again and trying their other dishes. read more

Server and manager did not the 10% off honor happy hour discount despite their advertisement on a board outside the restaurant AND IG flyer. Also, one employee said she would apply it prior to us ordering but was later overridden by other people right when we were about to pay. Saturday evening I've decided to give this spot another chance since found this place to have its own potential but boy i was wrong. I've placed an order online for mix and match along with other items but soon realized that it's be more worth to order a combo if I were going to add additional toppings such as corn, potatoes, and sausage. I'm not upset at the woman who took my phone order that could've recommended me the combo instead of my individual orders. I called back within seconds after my order and I was connected I told the manager that lied to us about being unable to accommodate us, which is surprising. I've worked as a server for over 10 years, and his behavior was absurd--being unprofessional on the phone, then only offering a 10% discount for over $20 in additional toppings, which now raises red flags about management's training. I don't feel comfortable dining here given potential food safety issues and the restaurant's incomplete setup, despite ordering takeout for months. I wanted to support this new Cajun boil spot, but it's underwhelming, and I prefer going to San Jose. I've traveled across states for seafood boils, and this experience is disappointing, especially in today's economy. Charging $72 for 2 lbs of shrimp with only a 10% discount is frustrating. The 50/50 seasoning was very good and had a good balance of that garlicky and Cajun flavor. This is my 2nd time here and this is the best crab place in the East Bay. Sonphi made me and my husband the best shots. I had a Bayou Boil which came in Watermelon but Sonphi let me substitute it for Strawberry! Soo good! The crab cakes are crispy and well seasoned.
