I ordered catfish and it was SPOILED ROTTEN! I bit into it & the smell alone almost blew me away! I know good and well y'all smelled this before putting it in the fryer! I returned the food & asked to speak with a manage, but conveniently there wasn't a manger on site so I left my contact info. The manager (Nory) called a few hours later not to address my concern, but to insult my intelligence & palate by delivering a dissertation on how fish naturally smells and the oils it produces. And I quote, "you are the only customer who complained TODAY." The fish did not taste or smell fishy, it was SPOILED! What they failed to understand is that it only takes one customer to tell you your food is inedible for it to warrant attention. I wasn't looking for a lecture; I simply wanted a sincere apology and reassurance that my concern was being taken seriously. A few coworkers and I made a visit to this local establishment for lunch today. No one in our group had ever eaten here but it was a great decision. Mia was phenomenal serving us with humor, friendliness and some very good recommendations off the menu. The Da Gumbo poyboy was delicious. The 5" version is plenty to eat! Had the 14 oz T-Daddy Ribeye and was superbly delicious and grilled just right to my liking! The flavor was outstanding and compliments to all the staff for a great Ribeye steak here in town. I will never eat here again. Our waitress was absolutely awful. I asked her for another bowl of rice for my child, she looked at me crazy and confused and said "another one???" I was polite to her because she looked miserable. Anytime I asked for something, which wasn't much because she wasn't friendly she acted like it was such an inconvenience for her. Let me start this review by stating that upon our arrival there was one family and a couple in front of us. (We waited twenty five minutes for our food to arrive). Which wouldn't have been bad if our food was freshly cooked! We mulled over the menu and finally decided on our entree's. I went with the fish of course, and my wife chose the Boudreaux Burger with homemade onion rings. I opted for fried shrooms for an app. Which incidentally didn't arrive until after the food was served. Unacceptable IMHO. When our food arrived the fish tasted like mushy mud and the burger was overcooked to the point of being dry. The mushrooms were barely above room temperature! Absolutely horrible! To top it off, the young lady who took our order acted as though we were bothersome and it was painfully obvious she did not want to be there. Very poor service indeed! SEAFOOD PLATTER- I placed a to-go order over the phone for a seafood platter, red beans and pepper jack boudin balls. The time given was 35min, not a problem, it's Friday night and they are busy... I understand. Picked up my food (they called my name as soon as I walked in) and the only thing that was hot were the boudin balls. Do you see the size of the shrimp and oysters on the platter?!?!?! Who puts popcorn shrimp and oyster bites on a "platter"? Should have 6 pieces of fish and there is only 3 pieces on here, ALL of the seafood and fries taste like they were fried in old grease. I threw the entire plate in the trash! THIS WAS HORRIBLE AND A TOTAL WASTE OF MONEY! RED BEANS - The red beans were really good, even cold they were good. My only complaint with the beans are they were cold. PEPPER JACK BOUDIN BALLS- The boudin balls were the best part of my order! The were hot, nice size and very delicious. END RESULT- Before they moved into the new building the food was always amazing, don't know if they are not equip to handle the increase in volume or exactly what's going on but I'm over it! This restaurant has been serving Zachary for a decades. It moved to a larger and nicer location, down the street, 2 to 3 years ago the food is delicious, and the service has always been very good. Obviously they are specialty is seafood dishes, but they do have a variety of other types of food available. One unique thing is that they now serve precooked and prepackaged, frozen dishes, such as shrimp and corn soup, crawfish, étouffée, and chicken and undo sausage gumbo. Went out for supper with the wife while in Zachary. The service by Jin was outstanding. I'm blind and her voice was very soothing. We had to try the fried banana peppers.. man, glad we did. Very delightful. We also had the Cheese fries.. another delightful item.. tries the gumbo.. was not very pleased with it. But we are in South La.. many different gumbos.. so, no big deal. Wife had the Rachel. Turkey cooked to perfection and the avocado ranch set it all off. I ordered Da Rougaro and I'll be eating that tomorrow for lunch. 3rd time going in the last year, 3rd time I haven't even eaten my food. All 3 times my foods come out the plates been the only thing hot. My husband and I were visiting from out of town and the restaurant caught our eye. Walked in and saw a sign to wait to be seated. Did not get acknowledged for 3 to 4 min. Wasn't that busy with several tables open. We were finally seated and a few minutes later the waitress came and took our order. After about 10 minutes later, the same lady walked by and asked if she took our order. Another 20 minutes, our crawfish etoufee, 2 bowls of chicken and sausage gumbo and an oyster po-boy came out cold. Very disappointing! Our waitresses customer service could definitely improve also. i went 30 minutes before closing so i feel like the service was short and rushed but at least they're open on sundays now (i just wish they stayed open a little later) but i enjoyed my overstuffed shrimp poboy and fries. I think they offer good quality food and generous portion size for the price ($11 for the meal). I also appreciated how the food wasn't too greasy considering it was fried. The building is nice with more seating than the old location and now they have 3 steaks on the menu. They have a 6 Oz filet, a 12 Oz ribeye & a hamburger steak choice of 1 patty or 2, lol. The Poboy's are small here only 5 inches that's smaller than half a subway sandwich but a lot pricier than half of a subway sandwich. The seafood has a heavier batter than I prefer and they don't use much seasoning on it. So apparently serving spinach on a shrimp poboy is normal. I called to complain that I was told it came with lettuce but it came with spinach. The GM told me spinach was a type of spinach after being as evasive as she could, so I lost it and told her she was f****ing stupid. Those are two different plants! I've only been there once since the pandemic in the last few years. It was really good, but you pay for it pretty good. I had a Greek salad with 12 added shrimp. It was excellent. And it was much more expensive for the added shrimp. My wife had a shrimp poboy. We paid an upcharge for the big shrimp. Most poboys come with popcorn shrimp. But the sandwich was very good. Stopped by for lunch after viewing the menu on line. It was awesome. We ordered the "Izzy" which was a club with hot Roast Beef added on top of a usual Club. Mmmmm.. My husband had the Hot Roast Beef on Chiatatta Bread. With au jus. Again awesome. For sides we had Red Beans w/rice and Onion Rings. The Onion Rings are THE best I have ever had. This was all so delicious. Beyond expectations. Then we split a Bread Pudding that was excellent. They sell prepared foods in their freezer. Very hard to choose, but I bought a whole Chicken stuffed with Crawfish. Next time I am getting the Bacon wrapped Duck Breast. All of this: two gigantic sandwiches, Red Beans and Rice, Onion Rings a beer and tea AND the Whole Chicken Stuffed with Crawfish was $55.00. Unbelievable price. We also took home half of our food and it will be another entire meal. Our server, "Miss C" was so kind and her smile was so welcoming, best service. The tables were well spaced and everyone was wearing a mask. The decor is beautiful. Great style. Huge place. All in all, a extremely great experience. I gave it only 4 stars because the cashier kept interrupting me while ordering, but the food was absolutely amazing!! Chicken tenders were hot, juicy and little spicy (mild) , shrimp was nice in size and cooked perfect. Fried doll pickles were crispy and flavorful and last but not least the gator balls!! They were very tasty but a bit chewy. I'll be visiting again to try new things on the menu. Which is large in selection. I know they are limited on space but they need bigger tables.
