My cycle shoes needed adjusting so I came here after having lunch. The gentleman that assisted me told me what I needed to know about maintaining my spin shoes. He was cute and very helpful! I really appreciated the knowledgeable resource he provided during my visit. This was my first time at this location. They have a lot of cool bikes, helmets and other cycle accessories. I currently use my shoes for spin class only but I plan to purchase a bike soon to do some biking outside of stationary cycling. I will definitely return here in the future! read more

Randomly decided the other day that I wanted a bike. Realized that apparently there is some kind of national shortage of bikes because I guess covid has everyone wanting to go outside and do something and it seems that as a result bikes are in short supply online. So I went to Cahaba Cycles and they had a good selection of seemingly nice ones and without any trouble at all I got sized up and directed toward exactly the one I was checking out initially online. They had it in stock and got it assembled in a timely manner and as far as I can tell everything about it works smoothly and flawlessly. The store is spacious and has a wide variety of bikes and related accessories. The employees all seem to be actual bike lover types as opposed to those you might find at some bigger sporting goods stores. Real experts in this place. High quality stuff. I haven't been a customer for long but as far as first impressions go they did a great job. No major upselling or pressure, none of the kind of pretentiousness that you can sometimes encounter in stores that sell specialty hobby related things. I know almost nothing about bikes, and they didn't make me feel like an idiot for asking questions so that was nice. So overall a great local business with friendly and knowledgeable people, high quality products and pretty much everything you need to get going on a bike. What more can you ask for? read more

Really nice bike shop with lots of bikes and accessories. I bought the hubs' bike here after he picked it out. Really nice Trek bike. They have tons of Trek bikes which I really like and prefer. Staff in the shop are really friendly and helpful. Hubby was able to ride the bike around outside a bit. Another staff member went with him on a bike too. He really liked the bike after he test rode it. There are lots of accessories and on the day we went they had winter riding gear on sale. I really liked this store, just wish it was a little closer to home! read more

I reside in S. Florida and I was in the market for a Trek 9.7 Exe Mountain Bike when I noted Cahaba Cycles had one in stock at a great price. I spoke to Andrew at the Oak Mountain Store who was extremely informative and polite. Andrew sent me a few photos of the bike and confirmed the size of it. I purchased the bike and I ask Andrew to please wrap & pack it with extra stuffing. When I received the bike in it's original box I noted it was packed beautifully. Not scratch on it. I called Andrew back and thanked him for the packing and the entire transaction. There was an issue with late shipping of the pedals, but they refunded me and even gave me the pedals for free! Never been to any of their stores, but they were very professional straight forward company. The next time I'm in the market to buy a bike or any product I will not hesitate to buy from them. Only 4 reviews for this place? Odd. I came in from out of state to rent a bike. Got a lot of good trail advice from an adorable young lady there. She explained a bit about the Oak Mountain network and made sure I had all I needed to keep my rental in good shape while I mashed around the mountain. In addition to her being adorable, the bike was awesome. A Trek Stache that must've only been ridden once before. The brakes hadn't even been fully bedded. I almost felt guilty riding it the way it was meant to be ridden. Yep - right into and over almost every rock and boulder. No problem though - the bike handled it all perfectly. I'll definitely rent from them again when in town (which will be often with kids in nearby schools) and will likely buy a Stache from them just for being so awesome. read more

We stopped in to take a look at some bikes. We had an issue with some brand new bikes we bought from another retailer and we returned those bikes and came by to talk. Jen took the time to talk with us and guide us through our New Bike purchase. She answered every question we had and showed us a number of bikes within our price range. Along with the bikes, we needed a rack and all accessories. Jen helped us with everything that we needed to get out there on the trails. We came back a week later to look into bikes for our kids. This time Jen was out so George helped us. Just like before we were very pleased with the service. He hooked us up with 2 bikes for the kids as well. With adding the 2 bikes we also had to upgrade to a Kuat 4 bike rack. This bike rack is amazing and makes transfering bikes easy and looks great as well. After riding additional trails we came back less than 1-2 months of starting this experience and we are now upgrading our 2 bikes to FULL suspension bikes. We definitely knew where to get them and wouldn't ever think of shopping somewhere else. Y'all have been great! We could not have had a better experience and we look forward to more mountain biking and coming in and visiting with you all again. Thank you again. BF and I were visiting the area and wanted to ride at Oak Mountain. We called Cahaba for info and bike rentals. Great customer service immediately! We came in, rented a couple Staches, and had tons of questions about the trails. We even got lost out there and had to call the shop for help. George was great, really helped us out with the bikes and the trails. It's great to be a stranger in a strange land and run into people like these guys. Highly recommended. I purchaded a Terratike GT 22 from them. Months later I am still correcting things they put together wrong. They even installed the computer pickup backwards. When I got the trike home it wouldn't shift on the rear sprocket properly. I had to take 6 links out of the chain to get the derailleur to work. when I picked it up I asked what the torque setting was for the boom bolts if I had to adjust it and was told just get it as tight as I could. Yesterday I noticed the rear fender wasn't even installed correctly. I heard a rattle while riding and when I checked it out instead of using the mounting bracket at the front bottom of the fender they ran the bolt through the fender and bent the bracket around the frame and it eas scraping and rattling with each small bump. read more

After the gentleman in front of me completed his purchase, the female cashier ignored me & started punching on a laptop keyboard. I stood patiently, waiting for acknowledgment, anything...but got nothing. And yes, she KNEW I was there! I put the merchandise back & left. Ridiculous. I won't be back. These are the bike people as far as I'm concerned. I don't go anywhere else. I purchased my Trek in the late 90s - very early 2000s and I still ride it today. I have a Trek 4300, which for a competent to proficient casual mountain bike such as myself is perfect. I recently had the bike serviced and rewired and it rides just like it did 18-20 yrs ago when I got it. The nice part about having your bike serviced here is you don't get the full court press to try and up sell you. My bike is old, but I bought a quality piece of equipment from this store and its lasted. I keep it on the concrete, asphalt and family rated trails far more than I did in my younger days. As a result I come off of it far less, further preserving functionality and integrity of the bike and me. The staff is knowledgeable, non pressure and day in and day out they're the same people. I've purchased (4) bikes here for my son at various stages in his growth and development. I've worked with the same guy that sold me my first bike and just serviced it. My son's old bikes were always accepted on trade in and credited toward my purchase. Further, I was given a good value for each of the trade ins. In addition to retail bike, service and accessories you also get bike riders with this establishment. They host free classes for basic bike upkeep, maintenance and repair and constantly sponsor rides and events. Barbara and her staff got us fixed up with nice bikes and helmets and helped us get to the trail head at Oak Mountain State Park. She also gave us a game plan on which trails to try. Sales, service, service after the sale all impeccable! So much so that I have purchased 4 bikes from this store! 2 for myself and 2 for my grandson. Need an accessory? This is the place to go. Advise? Given willingly from knowledgeable sales staff and maintenance crew. When it came time for upgrades.....they steered me in the right direction by listening to what I wanted to improve. I wanted to get my grandson competitively involved with cycling but, wasn't sure where to start. So, I went to Cahaba cycles...yup, they knew. He now races Cyclocross and Mountain bike races with 1 of the sons of an employee (not to name drop but, Jason Parker and his son Braedon). Further more my grandson now takes lessons on riding from the son of an employee from another of their stores. I guess you could say this is a well rounded, full service LBS (local bike store), but, it's much more than that! I always feel very welcomed when I walk in, even it's just to see whats going on. My bicycle seat was not ordered, my bicycle sat for 2 days and I had to call ask when will it be ready. I hope it rides well, I hope Trek can find another carrier for their awesome products.
